Champion Build Guide

[10.7] The Tidecaller | Outheal the Enemy DPS

By Dark0asls
Hello, my name is DarkOasis and I am a Gold Support and Jungle main. I mostly play champions like Ivern, Taric, Sona, and Nami. I have only been playing League of Legends for about 8 months now and I have really learned a lot about the game and the mechanics behind it.

In this guide, I will be going over how to play the lovable support Nami. I will be explaining her kit, items, spells, and overall gameplay and what you should expect when playing The Tidecaller. I have over 100k Mastery points on Nami now and have been doing very well with her within my ranked games so I wanted to help some people get better at playing her so I am creating this guide just to do so.
Pros/Cons
PROS

🌊 Strong healing
🌊 Late game scale
🌊 Tons of CC
🌊 Can peel very easily
🌊 Useful Kit

Nami is a great Support to play if you want to impact the game the whole time. She has a great kit that allows her to perma CC some of her enemies and can easily peel for herself and her own teammates keeping them alive throughout most team fights.
CONS

🔥 Really squishy
🔥 Q Skill-shot based
🔥 Needs at least one frontliner

Nami is a very squishy support so it is very important that if you play her that you play as safe as possible so that you aren't caught out. Nami's Aqua Prison is a very hard ability to hit so make sure that you practice this ability with bots or some friends. You can easily track the movement of your enemy and easily land an Aqua Prison where they will be next trapping them for an easy kill for your ADC.
Runes
Summon Aery is a great primary rune for Nami as it allows her shields to be increased and gives her more damage in her poke in the laning phase. This rune is much better than Guardian because it can be activated more often due to the lower cooldown and just provides more utility with Nami's kit.

Due to the recent buff for Nimbus Cloak, it has seen a lot of play in Korea especially on Nami as she is a very squishy champion and is always in need of a way to escape risky situations. Easy use that Flash, Ignite, or Exhaust and skedaddle with that speed boost.

When you are playing a more of a peel support , you are going to be looking for more CDR (CoolDown Reduction) so that you can peel for your carry more. Transcendence grants you 10% CDR at level 10 which allows you help you team more without having to buy more items. Even though you will be building CDR anyways with your items, Transcendence also converts the extra CDR (45% CDR is maximum) and converts it into AP (Ability Power) helping you scale into the late game.

Extra AP (Ability Power) is always great and we want to get it without having to buy any items that provide us with it. So the second best option is to take Gathering Storm as it provides you with more AP every 10 minutes into the game. This is great on Nami because your healing scales with AP allowing you to have more healing going into the late game.

This rune is great for champions that like to team fight a lot and need mana to be able to sustain themselves within the fights. Presence of Mind restores and increases the champions maximum mana for each takedown they get. So if you are in a teamfight and get an assist or kill, you will be refunded with mana and will be able to keep contributing to the fight.

Being permanently CC'd (Crowd Controlled) every team fight and can't help keep your team up, Legend: Tenacity allows you to not be CC'd for as long as you usually would. By taking this rune, you don't have to buy Mercury's Treads because the boots passive do the same exact thing as the rune but it doesn't scale. This is great if you keep getting focused in team fights so that you can easily get away and keep safe while helping your team win the game.
Summoner Spells
FLASH
Flash is probably one of the best summoner spells in the game as it allows the player to either make unique plays or gives them an access to escape.

IGNITE
You usually take Ignite on most support 's just so you can get that heal negated in the botlane and secure that kill. I make sure to prioritize this summoner spell against champions with a heal ( Soraka, Yuumi, Sona, etc.) or tanky champions with a lot of self-heal ( Dr. Mundo, Mordekaiser, Nasus, etc.)

EXHAUST
I usually take Exhaust on Nami if the enemy team has a lot of assassins that can easily oneshot your back line such as LeBlanc, Katarina, Akali, etc. However, I do take is sometimes just to reduce the overall damage from a specific champion such as Yasuo or Aphelios just so they can't do as much within the team fights.
Abilities
PASSIVE: This is a very unique passive as it allows Nami to provide herself and her teammates with more mobility as if you hit any of your teammates with an ability, they gain a 60 (+20% AP) movement speed for 1.5 seconds. Which will help with escapes and going into team fights.

Q: This is a skill-shot based CC (Crowd-Control) ability that lifts an enemy into the air and stuns them for 1.5 seconds. This is a great ability for Nami as you can easily lock down kills on a specific enemy champion and possibly save someones life if they are being killed by someone. This ability is can easily be combo'd with any other form of CC so that you can permanently CC lock your enemy. You can even combo CC with yourself, I will go into this more within the "Combos" section in this guide.

W: Probably one of the best healing abilities in the game. It provides Nami with huge poke and heal potential as this ability can bounce off of up to 3 champions. So if you cast it on yourself within lane and are close enough to the enemy champions, is will bounce on to them and deal damage. This skill is great in teamfights as if your teammates are right in the action, if you heal one of them it can bounce off them then onto an enemy then back onto another teammate healing 2 people on your team at once. The passive of this spell allows Nami to help keep her team up and help her contribute her own damage even if she is just healing her own teammates.

E: This ability allows Nami to enhance 3 basic attacks and spells used by one of her teammates. This spell allows Nami to be played in the bot lane with either an ADC (Attack damage Carry) or even an APC (Ability Power Carry) due to her ability to enhance her allies basic attacks and spells. If the teammate you cast this spell on his an enemy champion, it will apply a slow on the target for 1 second allowing you or your teammates to catch that person out with CC (Crowd Control).

R: This ultimate allows for great utility within teamfights as it knocks up and slows the enemies caught in it allowing your team to initiate the teamfight. This is a great CC (Crowd Control) ultimate for Nami as she can easily use it for peel on her carry in the backline or just for a teammate who may have gotten caught out before an important team fight.
