[10.21] Sett / The Boss ... An In-Depth Guide to Glory!!!

By GodMulti
Welcome to the arena
Hello, my name is Wolf. I have been playing League since season 5.
And this is a guide for "The Boss" Sett.

Sett is an incredible new Addition to the World of League of Legends. I love playing him so much, he is just incredible in 1v1s and feels so nice to play. BIG SETT FAN!

They call me Sett, the Beast-Boy Bastard

Pros / Cons
Pros

+ Great early game
+ Awesome Mid-Game
+ Good short trades
+ Easy to farm under tower
+ AoE Stun
+ 1v2 Potential
+ Strong 1v1 Fighter / Lane Bully
+ AoE Ultimate (That looks sick af)
+ Great engage
+ You will dominate season 10!!!

Cons

- No Peel
- Can be kitted very easily
- Needs his R for a decent Teamfight

Summoner Spells
Flash
Teleport

For Summoner-Spells you have to take Flash for the first spell, for the 2nd one you have a choice between Ghost,
Teleport and Ignite.

You have to carefully choose which one you pick, because it could change the output of the game:

Ghost: You take ghost when you are 100% sure that you will dominate your lane and when the enemy Team has a lot of kitting potential.
Teleport: You can take Teleport with you whenever you want. If you are behind you can tp to your lane, if you are ahead you can make tp plays on other lanes and bring them ahead too. It is my favorit Summoner Spell for Sett.
Ignite: Ignite is rarely a good choice, but if you end up in a lane were you will dominate 100% and the enemy team is a full squishy one, then take it. Or if there is a Mundo against you, your Ignite will reduce his healing a lot.
Ability Explanation

Pit Grit (Passive): Sett's basic attacks alternate between a left punch and a right punch. Sett allways begins attacking with a left punch, and will reset back to it after 2 seconds of not performing a right punch.

In short, he attacks with his left hand and then with his more powerful right hand.

Sett's right punch gains 50 bonus range, attacks at 8 times the left punch's attack speed, and deals 5 − 90 (based on level) (+ a percentage of his total AD) bonus physical damage.

On top of that Sett gains 0.25 / 0.5 / 1 / 2 (based on level) health regeneration per second for every 5% of his missing health.

Knuckle Down (Q): For the first 1.5 seconds, Sett gains bonus movement speed while moving towards enemy champions.

Sett's next two basic attacks within 5 seconds each deal bonus physical damage as well as as a percentage of the target´s maximum health.

Knuckle Down resets Sett's basic attack timer. Use your Q to reset your Auto attack Timer after the first 2 auto attack combo... giving you the chance to punch 4 times in Rapid succession.

Haymaker (W):

Passive: Sett stores 100% of the damage he has taken as Grit on his secondary resource bar, up to 50% of his maximum health. After 4 seconds each instance of stored Grit decays by 30% every second.

Active: Sett blasts an area in the target direction, dealing physical damage to enemies hit. Enemies hit through the center take bonus damage (+10% per 100 bonus attack damage) (+25% of expended Grit) in true damage instead.

Sett also gains a rapidly decaying shield for 3 seconds equal to the stored Grit.

Using the ability costs 100% of Sett's current Grit.

Facebreaker (E): Sett pulls in enemies at his front and back, dealing physical damage (+ 60% bonus attack damage) in physical damage and slowing them by 50% for 0.5 seconds.

If Facebreaker affects at least one enemy on each side (it can be a minion or a monster too), all enemies inside the area are knocked against each others and are stunned for 1 second upon landing.

The Show Stopper (R) (THE SUPLEX): Sett suppresses the target enemy champion and then leaps unstoppably at a fixed distance towards the champions direction, carrying it along for 1.5 seconds before slamming it into the ground.

Enemies within the impact area take 200 / 300 / 400 (+ 100% bonus attack damage) (+40 / 50 / 60 percent of primary target's bonus health) in physical damage, which is reduced by up to 40% on the edges, and champions hit are slowed by 99% for 1.5 seconds.

The dash will prematurely end upon reaching a wall that cannot be dashed through. Otherwise Sett and the target go over the wall.

Items
Why rush Tiamat you may ask yourself. Well it gives you Waveclear that Sett really needs, due to the lack of any waveclear ability from his Kit. On top it allows you to fight early within the enemy Minions, you will Proc Tiamat with every auto attack you do, killing all the Mionions just by attacking the enemy, Later you will look to buy Titanic Hydra as your 3rd item

This is your CORE item that you want to take in nearly all of the games you play. Trinity Force provides you with Health, Cool-Down-Reduction, AD and Attackspeed. Due to your low CD on your Q Knuckle Down you will make tons of damage with the given Attackspeed and AD and deal bonus damage due to the passive of Spellblade ... after using an ability, your next Autoattack will deal bonus damage.

You want a little bit of Survivability and Burst Resistence? Sterak's Gage is your Item! It doesn´t only provide you with Health but als with crucial AD. On top of that Sterak's Gage scales very well with the Hp you get from Trinity Force, Spirit Visage and Titanic Hydra

If you are in need of wave-clear or you just simply want to split push hard, you have to buy Titanic Hydra. On top of that you gain even more Hp and AD. ... And yes a it helps your Sterak's Gage to provide you with a bigger shield.

Spirit Visage is your first choice for Magic Resistance. Due to the bonus of 30% in healing you recieve, makes it scale perfectly with Death's Dance Healing. It also helps your Sterak's Gage to provide you with a greater Shield.

Thanks to the Hp you gain from Dead Man's Plate and the Hp from Spirit Visage you now have an even bigger Shield when Sterak's Gage activates. But this isn´t the only reason to buy this item. The movement Speed you get is crucial to catch up with enemies that are trying to run away from you. Combined with the movement speed from your Q Knuckle Down no one will be able to run away from you.

Death's Dance is indeed a perfect item for Sett. It provides you with a lot of AD and Healing from your Abbilities. On top of that it will give you Fake Tankyness to survive longer inside the enemy team. The only downside to this is you have to choose between Titanic Hydra or Death's Dance, since you can only have 6 Items..... If you want to Splitpush take Titanic Hydra, if you want to stick with your team take your Death's Dance.

This is a pretty good item that you maybe want to take in tanky enemy comps........ Now don´t get me wrong Black Cleaver is an amazing item, but I think the attackspeed you gain from Trinity Force is cruicial!........ Black Cleaver provides you with Health, Cool-Down-Reduction and AD. It provides you with Armor shred, which is obviously great. Due to your low CD on your Q Knuckle Down you will make tons of damage with the armor reduction. Buy it if the enemy team comp is tanky.
Key-Stones
Conqueror: As with most of the bruisers, Conqueror is going to be go-to Key-Stone to take on Sett the Boss. Basic attacks and spells grant 2 stacks of Conqueror for 8s, gaining 2-5 Adaptive Force per stack. Stacks up to 10 times. When fully stacked, it heals you for 15% of the damage you deal to champions. Due to the nature of Setts basic attacks and his Q Knuckle Down Sett can stack it very fast.

Press the Attack: Hitting an enemy champion with 3 consecutive basic attacks deals 40-180 bonus adaptive damage (based on level) and makes them vulnerable, increasing the damage they take by 8-12% from all sources for 6 seconds. Use your Q Knuckle Down to reset your Auto attack Timer after the first 2 auto attack combo... giving you the chance to punch 4 times in Rapid succession., which leads to Sett stacking PTA instantly. Then proceed to your combos and you will deal 8-12% increased damage! Take it when you are facing a tank on top or you want to burst one down.

Grasp of the Undying: Every 4 seconds in combat, your next basic attack on a champion will deal bonus damage equal to 4% of your max health, heal you for 2% of your max health and permanently increases your health by 5. I would only take this rune if you are having a hard Lane and your team is missing some tankyness.

Aftershock: After immobilizing an enemy champion (for example with your R The Show Stopper) increase your Armor and Magic Resist by 35 + 80% of your Bonus Resists for 2.5s. Then explode, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies. I would only take this rune if you are having a very hard Lane and your whole team is completely squishy.

Phase Rush: Hitting an enemy champion with 3 attacks or separate abilities within 3 seconds grants 25%-40% (based on level) Movement Speed and 75% Slow Resistance for the duration. This is a very fun to use rune and I would take it if you are facing a ranged toplaner and the enemy team isn´t having a lot of tanks.

Hail of Blades: Gain 110% attack speed for the first three attacks made against enemy champions. If more than 2 seconds elapses between attacks this effect will end. Hail of Blades allows you to temporarily exceed the attack speed limit. This is a pretty interesting Rune for Sett. Due to his Passive he attacks with his right punch pretty much instantly after his left punch, which results in 4 extremely fast auto attacks with Hail of Blades. I would take this rune if you are in a Hard lane where you only want to make short Trades. Or you want to try the on-hit Build.

Prototype: Omnistone: Periodically grants a single use of another random keystone.
5-3 second cooldown between using a keystone and gaining the next. This Rune is just for FUN. Please don´t try this in ranked!
Team Fight
As Sett you want to try to split push. If you decide that sticking with your team is the right choice, wait for the Enemy tank to come near you. As soon as your team is ready Ult him towards the Enemies, when you land cast your E Facebreaker, this will lead to an AoE stun. After that try to damage everyone with your Auto Attacks and your Q Knuckle Down. After some time your Grit will be fully charged, At that point of time press your W Haymaker and deal a ton of true damage. By the time your Combo is done your Team should have helped you and you should have won that Team Fight.

Now go and have fun in the Arena.
Setts Biography
Though now a powerful player in Ionia’s flourishing criminal underworld, Sett had humble origins. Born from an Ionian vastaya and a Noxian human, the “half-beast” child was an outcast from the start. His birth appalled his mother’s vastayan community, which expelled the family for violating its tribal norms. The humans of Ionia were no more accepting of the taboo union, though Sett’s father’s infamy as a local pitfighter usually kept them from voicing their disapproval.

What little security the family enjoyed vanished the day Sett’s father disappeared. All of a sudden, those who had bitten their tongues at the sight of young Sett felt free to express their contempt. The boy was bewildered, wondering where his father had gone, and why trouble suddenly seemed to be following him.

Sett grew up quickly, becoming calloused in the face of the taunts and threats he endured, and before long, he began using his fists to silence the insults. When news of his fights reached his mother, she made him swear not to go near the Noxian pits where his father had fought.

But the more Sett fought, the more he thought of his father.

Longing to find the man he only vaguely remembered, Sett snuck away to the pit late one night, after his mother had gone to bed. Immediately, he was enthralled by the spectacle. Scores of Noxian soldiers, fresh to the shores of Ionia, roared with bloodlust from the stands around him. Down in the center of the arena, fighters from all backgrounds and martial disciplines clashed in gruesome duels with a variety of weapons—the winners handsomely paid in Noxian coin. When the event was over, Sett inquired about his father, and learned a hard truth: his father had bought out his contract and left to tour more profitable pits abroad. He had deserted his family, to seek fortune on the other side of the world.

Burning with rage, Sett asked the arena’s matchmaker for a fight, hoping that somehow his father would return from his tour—and be the opponent standing across the pit from him. The matchmaker assigned the boy a fight on the next card, figuring he would be easy fodder for one of his star combatants.

Sett would prove him wrong.

From the moment he threw his first punch, “The Beast-Boy Bastard” was a pit-fighting sensation. Though Sett had no formal martial arts training, his primal strength and ferocity more than compensated, and he leveled his more technically sound opponents like a battering ram. Never abandoning hope that he might one day fight his father, he soon became the undisputed “King of the Pit”, with a swollen coffer of prize money—and a trail of broken opponents—to his name.

Night after night, Sett brought money and comforts to his mother, always lying about how he had acquired them. It warmed his calloused heart to see her so proud of his success, no longer forced to toil at menial jobs. Still, Sett couldn’t help but feel he could do better. Being the King of the Pit was good, but being the person who owned the pit… that was where the real money was.

Late one night, after defending his title in front of a record-breaking crowd, Sett presented his new demands to the Noxian matchmaker and his cronies. He suggested they grant him control of the arena and its revenue. When they refused, Sett barred the doors. Minutes later, the doors re-opened, and the Noxians emerged, badly maimed, with a message on their bloodied lips: the half-beast was the new boss.

With the promoters out of the picture, Sett took control of the pit he once fought in. Ionians, who had only recently been conditioned for war, flocked to the arena, paying to satisfy an urge they only now knew they possessed. Sett took full advantage of their newfound bloodlust, accumulating wealth and power beyond his wildest boyhood dreams, as he transformed the pit into the hub of an underground empire of gambling and vice.

The half-beast who reigned supreme in the pit now runs his illicit enterprises with the same iron fist. Any time someone challenges his authority, he personally reminds them where they stand. Every punch Sett throws is a blow to his old life of poverty and ostracism, and he intends to make sure that old life stays down.
