[10.7] Rakan Support Matchups, General Items + Rune Sets
[10.7] Rakan Support Matchups, General Items + Rune Sets
Her E can block Q, W, and R, essentially removing your kit. Playing around it depends on your skill, and whether she's good at timing. Her Q can keep your adc from following you up, or it can lock you down.
Rakan
Whoever engages first is playing a 50/50 game, as counterengaging on Rakan with Rakan often spells a death sentence for whoever tried to W first.
Nautilus
Similar to Leona, he can lock down but struggles to protect - but he can also pull someone out of position, and is extremely hard to kill while being able to do so.
Thresh
Can interrupt your W casts fairly easy, pick you or your adc if either are out of position, and synergizes very well with most adcs. This matchup varies widely with skill level. His slows may catch you out and make you easy to punish.
Leona
Can lock down, but can't protect. If she targets your adc, counterengage by jumping on her adc.
Blitzcrank
His R can break your passive, he can interrupt your R cast, and he can pick you fairly easily if you get out of position - like most hook champions, this can be a death sentence.
Nami
Either you combo her and use her long ability cds and mana costs against her, or she interrupts your ult and keeps you from getting a good initiation.
Sona
Will poke you relentlessly. You will struggle to engage on her most of the time and she outranges you while outdamaging you early. Shut her down early on, and bully her relentlessly if you can to keep her out of the game.
Soraka
Can silence you, making your life as miserable as possible. Focusing her down and killing her makes your life easier, as she can only heal herself with ultimate.
Zilean
Annoying, relentless, and fully capable of denying all your hard work and effort after level 6. You only technically outscale him, and this matchup varies on which ADCs you both have.
Tahm Kench
On his own not very threatening. Can easily peel you off and turn around your engage on you. This lane will be slow, full of spamming Q and standing behind minions, and excruciatingly boring - entirely dependent on ADC matchup.
Bard
Roams infinitely. If you hard cc him you can kill him most of the time, but be aware of where he is and spam ping when he's gone or you'll get blamed for him getting other lanes a lead.
Alistar
Can interrupt your W, take more damage than you, and make your ADC throw a fit. He has no way to protect his adc other than to cc you or toss you, but he's also liable to being left behind in fights if you bully his adc away.
Zyra
Can bully her level 1 and 2 when her plants spawn less often. Step on her buds early game, bully her when possible. After you dodge her root you can engage on her. Once she's level 3, play safe until lategame - you outscale her.
Janna
Will poke you relentlessly and disengage you when you go in. This is a lane of poking back and forth - she doesn't have a heal, and you do.
Braum
Less threatening than a hook or enchanter support, but very good at peeling you off or punishing you for free because of his slow and stun. Take Phase Rush into targets with strong slows.
Yuumi
Annoying, but interrupting her W cast or focusing and killing her adc (and picking up the kill on her after) makes this matchup relatively easy so long as you can deny her healing.
Pyke
If he hooks you, W his adc. If he tries to stun you, E to your adc. If he tries to ult you, flash. If he uses his w, use oracle. Pyke is all footwork - if you position well and have good reaction time, this can be a very easy matchup.
Ashe
Her slows and poke along with her reliable dps can make you suffer fairly easily. Taking Phase Rush into her makes your life infinitely easier.
Aphelios
Matchups vary this. Keep an eye on his guns. Gravitum, Crescendum are the ones you don't want to engage on. (You can engage on Severum w/ ignite or grievous.) (Purple & White.)
Caitlyn
A lane bully that can be bullied back if you engage properly. If she's bullying your adc and you can't engage, a gank can easily turn the tides.
Draven
Play safe and he falls off, then abuse his "I'm going to step here" indicator to bully him relentlessly.
Kalista
Her ultimate is your favorite thing. If she uses it at the correct times, your ultimate combos are teamfight-turning so long as you use it properly.
Miss Fortune
Her poke keeps them from bullying you, and her speed means she's a free jump board and she can reposition to follow you up very easily. Your ult + her ult = fantastic damage. You can hold them in place while she does the damage.
Xayah
Xayah is fairly weak this patch, but the utility of just having her as a launch pad and her W empowering you makes her useful still.
Lucian
Dash in + dash in + rakans CC = a great combination of all-in. Lucian also has safety in his dash, being able to escape/stay safe easier. He's a fantastic jump board for Rakan to use.
Twitch
A consistent invisible launch pad, turret diving with Twitch is especially easy. He synergizes fantastically with enchanter-based snowballing builds especially.
Ashe
Her slows make it easier for you to hit abilities, and she usually has approach velocity so she can catch up fairly easily if you catch someone.
Vayne
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off her and keep her alive fairly well while locking people down for her to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Tristana
You can keep her alive fairly well while locking people down for her to follow up with her jump.
Taliyah
An early game based snowball-or-lose-it botlane, her kit fairs well with Rakan's.
Neeko
Her cc on your cc = more cc and her getting a free ult combo. Fairly good, but you'll struggle in lane early.
Draven
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off him and keep him alive fairly well while locking people down for him to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Caitlyn
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off her and keep her alive fairly well while locking people down for her to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane. A good Cait won't really need you in lane at all to bully the enemy botlaners under turret and keep them there.
Jinx
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off her and keep her alive fairly well while locking people down for her to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Kai'Sa
You can use her as a jump board and she can follow up easily, but during this patch she's fairly weak.
Varus
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off him and keep him alive fairly well while locking people down for him to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Jhin
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off him and keep him alive fairly well while locking people down for him to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Aphelios
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off him and keep him alive fairly well while locking people down for him to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Sivir
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off her and keep him alive fairly well while locking people down for her to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane. Her survivability in lane on her own is great regardless of support.
Kog'Maw
While having very little overall kit synergy, you can still peel enemies off him and keep him alive fairly well while locking people down for him to hit them - the general necessities for a decent bot lane.
Jarvan IV
Not an ADC, but the ult combo is worth mentioning.
Diana
