PASSIVE
Deathbringer Stance
Aatrox's passive periodically empowers his next attack, granting bonus range, dealing extra damage, and healing him for a portion of the bonus damage. Healing is reduced on minions. Hitting enemy champions or large monsters reduces the cooldown — even more when he strikes with his Q sweet spot.
Q
The Darkin Blade
Aatrox swings his blade up to three times, each strike differing in shape and area. Every cast resets after 4 seconds or the third hit. Each has a "sweet spot" that deals bonus damage and knocks up enemies. The second and third casts deal 25% and 50% extra damage respectively — embodying his growing fury.
W
Infernal Chains
Aatrox smashes the ground, sending chains of dark energy that deal damage and slow the first enemy hit. If it’s a champion or large monster, they’re tethered — fail to escape, and the chains drag them back for a second strike of torment.
E
Umbral Dash
Aatrox dashes a short distance, gaining lifesteal against enemy champions. It can be used during his other abilities, letting him reposition mid-swing to strike with deadly precision.
R
World Ender
Aatrox releases his true Primordial form — a towering being of death. He fears nearby minions and monsters, gains bonus AD, size, and self-healing, as well as ghosting and immense movement speed. Scoring a takedown extends the transformation, prolonging the apocalypse.

  • + Resourceless: No mana — full focus on combat.
  • + Strong CC chain: Easy to lock down targets.
  • + Blind pick potential: Works well in most matchups.
  • + Solid teamfights: Reliable frontline & sustain.
  • + Strong vs AD comps: High sustain & anti-burst.
  • + Excellent vs melee drafts.
  • - Falls off late game: Scales worse than hyper carries.
  • - Item dependent: Weak without core build.
  • - Easily outscaled: Tanks and bruisers outlast him.
  • - Vulnerable to burst: Struggles vs assassins or mages.
  • - Slow animations: Punishable by mobile champs.

⚔️ Best Items for Aatrox ⚔️

Sundered Sky Best item for aatrox rn. Its like Divine Sunderer but little worse. Providing good sustain while fight or laning phase.

Ravenous Hydra Provides good amazing sustain while fighting melee champions. Great balance between sustain and DPS like good old Goredrinker.

Death's Dance Really good item into burst damage like Zed or just AD assasins.

Serylda's Grudge Overall great item when going assasin/bruiser, but its not worth building when going clear bruiser, because lacks of HP that can be lifesaving while fighting tanks.

Maw of Malmortius Good into AP champions that can burst you down and AP bruisers like Mordekaiser.

Black Cleaver It's a niche option now, only good into tanks when need more sustain in fights.

Hubris Most underrated item. Gives him huge snowball potential but only when ahead in lane and you feel it'll be easy match. Best when there's more squishy targets.

Iceborn Gauntlet It's a rare item option for me. Only works fine when there's 4 or 5 AD champions and at least 3 champions are super mobile.

Mortal Reminder It's a little bit worse Serylda's but with antiheal.

Spear of Shojin In my opinion overrated item for Aatrox. It's a Sundered Sky but without healing. I personally don't see any difference that Shojin's passive making Aatrox doing more damage.

Spirit Visage Good option while going bruiser. Not good when going assasin/bruiser. This healing boost feels nice. Probably best tank item you can buy.

Sterak's Gage Flexible item, can be built in bruiser and assasin/bruiser. Give's you nice anti-burst shield. Works best with Spirit's Visage.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Stridebreaker Next niche item. Rarely used only when u need more sustain and cant reach ranged champions. Basically it's like Voltaic's but this doesn't guarantee you that you'll hit with Q sweetspot.

Randuin's Omen Again it's a rarely used item. Only good when going bruiser into full ad team comp with at least 2 champions that build crit items.

Trinity Force Very specific item. Good item for splitpushing with Ravenous Hydra. But there's some matchups when u just can't hit Q sweetspots, so you just auto attack them. So your Q is little bit weaker but auto attacks benefits. Only good with bruiser.

Overlord's Bloodmail In overall its a 6 out of 10 item but there's passive that makes bruiser more valiable. Don't buy any armor or magic resists if u want to use this item, just buy health and attack damage, just like how you would buy items on Sett.

Mercurial Scimitar Only one item that removes cc in game. Buy this only when just one champion cc's you and turns you off in fights. Example: Malzahar.

Voltaic Cyclosword Mobile champion's biggest nightmare. Slows them by 99% of their movement speed for 1 secon. Secures you a Q sweetspot hit. Great when playing assasin/bruiser.

Profane Hydra Only good when going full assasin. More DPS, good for oneshotting, nothing more.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Serpent's Fang Situational item. Buy this when shields save their lifes, or when they make you furious.

Youmuu's GhostBlade Only good when going assasin. Just to chase down your prey's.
