Singed

Singed is very strong in this meta, especially vs. Riven. I recommend rushing a Death's Dance and aiming to kill him early. Later on you definitely need to pick off his team and create pressure.

Tryndamere

Trynd pretty destroys Riven but if you manage to kill him early on you can get a lead. Avoid feeding him, set up a gank pre 6 and bait out his E. Later on it's very difficult to kill him without the help of your team.

Pantheon

Basically Pantheon is a hard counter to Riven, the skill cap of the champion is very low and Riven's is very high. Therefore it generally goes the same every game: Q, Q, Q , over and over again... Get the timing down for when the spear is about to hit you and E right before it does, you'll soak up a lot of his damage. The goal is to out sustain him, start E and bait out his Q's to drain his mana in lane. Prevent him from roaming with his Ultimate and keep tabs on when he has it with your team. Additionally it's very similar to the Tryndamere matchup.

Garen

Garen can be quite annoying, trading isn't an option due to his passive, Perseverance. Try to all in him early on and gain a lead in CS. I believe Riven has the slight advantage in this matchup, however it can be pretty difficult to deal with him when he picks up Bramble Vest.

Renekton

Hard matchup, starting E is a viable option and you generally DO NOT want to fight him levels 1-2. Roam to snowball your bot lane, with Teleport this can be played very strategically if you survive the lane. Ignite is a risky option and I do not recommend it if you are not experienced.

Teemo

Very annoying, but if he is not very experienced or builds incorrectly, you have a lot of room to capitalize. I still struggle with this matchup but I win it when I grab an early Hexdrinker, farm up and avoid going on tilt.

Nasus

In order to beat Nasus, you need to prevent him from farming when you have the opportunity in lane. Proper ward coverage & map awareness is a good start to doing this. Stay up in levels and consider a Mortal Reminder! Roaming to kill his team is essential due to the fact that he will want to farm his Q and inevitably scale. Fortunately getting to late game with Nasus as Riven isn't bad when you buy items that scale. Experience helps a lot with this one so I recommend practice/VODs if you can't quite get it!

Gnar

The only real threat he has to you is his range, if he gets too close trade with him early. Levels 1-3 the trades come out best with your fast combo.

Camille

It's a hard counter in the mid game so it's best to keep it clean with this one. Stay healthy and Avoid overextending against her because she has insane gap closing. Her ultimate, The Hextech Ultimatum has a relatively short cooldown and really shuts you down.

Darius

Remember that If you dodge his Q is prevents his heal. Keep in mind when playing against Darius that his Q will do significantly less damage when you're close to him. Basically, When you do a fast combo and you get all of your autos & abilities off you have the potential to out damage him in trades early on. Watch out for his E during ganks it has an annoyingly long range. It's a good idea to bait his Q out before you trade and slowly poke him down.

Aatrox

Let's be honest here, Aatrox isn't a very good champion unless you're an experienced player. I enjoy the matchup, it's fun and easy to abuse. ( Rework coming soon though! O: )

Galio

I personally ban Galio every game xD currently thanking the most high rito gods that it is not in the meta atm.

Gangplank

The EASIEST matchup for Riven without a doubt, it is good practice to E when he shoots you (GP Q).

Illaoi

A lot of dodging is required to beat this matchup, I recommend Tiamat into Death's Dance

Irelia

Honestly I still can't beat this matchup, pretty hard. Banning her every game xD

Jax

It is literally essential to dodge Jax's E. A properly farmed Riven can outplay or outduel a Jax before the late game.

Kennen

Jumping on him early is a good idea when his E is down, similar to Jax. You need to force his flash early. What I like to do is call my jungler and convince him to gank in order to get my snowball rolling.

Rengar

Stay away from the top brushes at level 1-2, he can easily burst (and root) for an easy kill. Play safe so it's not easy for him to latch onto you from constant jumps. You will most likely see multiple champions in your lane attempting to abuse you early on. (so dont let them! :)

Shen

Rush Armor Penetration. In order to counter Riven, the enemy player has to know the champion they are playing better than you know your own. This is a thing to consider when playing against any foe 1 on 1, which is where Riven has the clear advantage.Shen is a general counter than will also be a challenge for me down the path of exile...

Malphite

Laning vs Malphite is a true test of your CSing skills. If you can grab around 70 at 9 minutes in the game, you can grab an early last whisper with a long sword start. He has a passive that slows your auto attacks, similar to frozen heart so try not miss auto attacks, it makes you look bad lol.. If you struggle vs him grab Mercs and feel free to ask more about the matchup ~

Nautilus

A bit of an annoyance unless you cause him to feed or pick up a QSS. Dodge his hooks, watch for ganks and assume he will ult you immediately at level 6.

Vladimir

Baiting out his pool at level one means it's an 18 seconds he has to wait before he's untargetable again. Be sure to kill him as quickly as possible to ensure he dies.

Sion

I like this matchup, its a good test to keep you on your feet.

This pick is one of the hardest Riven matchups because he gets HIS HORSE, Skarll. This gives him extra health and enhanced abilities. It also has a short window (cooldown) for you to make plays in between when he isn't mounted onto his horse. This is a good time to kill him.
