Ah, really good guide (and champ) that helped me climb our of Bronze... Nothing more to say, it's really good and works in practically every team comp.

Uh alright let's take a crack at this. Google says route phase.. I assume that's laning phase.

1) Why choose Braum over other.. tanks and utility supports?

In terms of tanky supports, I think Braum's right around #1 in that category personally. But I still consider him weaker than the likes of Nami and Lulu (who I think are the strongest supports if you want to win) because his laning phase is just weaker than theirs, since he can't poke and he is vulenrable to being poked down.

2) Who does he synergize with?

Braum's good with most all-in ADCs, anyone who is aggressive and can take advantage of Braum's stuns. My favourite is probably Miss Fortune, since he can keep her safe since she's immobile but also because he can stun>knock-up enemies effortlessly and keep them in place for her ultimate. He's also good with Draven, Twitch and Lucian (who applies two of Braum's stun stacks at once with his own passive).

3) Roaming

I think he's a good roamer especially after 6. The trick is to jump onto a minion nearby the enemy and close the gap between you two. Once you're in close range you can ult them or Q/AAs, and you can land a stun really fast if the enemy mid laner is helping or has engaged prior to your arrival. You effectively give any ally a stun because of your passive so he's a strong skirmisher/teamfigher because of that.

4) Difficult match-ups

I have a list in the build itself which I think is fairly accurate at least from my experience. He does bad versus poke and peeler supports, so Morgana, Lulu and Karma aren't easy. But they're not undefeatable since pokey supports are usually quite squishy and you're good at bursting people down with your ADC.

5) Should I main Braum?

You could. Like I said I believe Nami and Lulu to be stronger carry-supports, especially in soloQ, but Braum is pretty strong right now (outside of laning phase at least). The new tank items gave him a mini buff recently which is a plus.

I just wanted to say, thank you so much for writing this guide. In my other account I managed to unlock Braum through Hextech Chests, and have been playing him ever since. Using your guide, I managed to score a 2/1/26 on my third game with him. Your work is amazing, as always, and your Janna guide was extremely helpful; before it, I had always gone Q first (like a noob, haha).
Have you ever thought about making a Bard guide? I would love it if you did. Thanks for reading this (if you did) and thanks for making this guide.

Hey Confusedciussay, thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot to me :) ♥ I'm glad you like Braum, I think he's very strong now and he can be really fun to play too. 2-1-26 is a great score!

I LOVE playing Bard but I think the top guide for Bard at the moment is quite good, so I probably won't be making one at least for a long time. I'll probably be releasing a new Rakan guide soon if anything and I've recently made a Nami guide too so that's probably it for a while :)

Hey MissMaw, love the guide, it helped me a lot!
I was wondering, have you tried Fearless as opposed to Insight, as I find the 15% CDR of summoners kind of lacking, compared to the slight survivability Fearless provides. Also, what do you think of Unyielding as opposed to Recovery, as I think it synergizes very well with Stand Behind Me. Of course, those are only minor changes, but I feel like they are slightly more efficient when it comes down to Braum.
Again, thanks a ton for the guide, got Mastery 7 recently thanks to it! :)

Thanks LeeSanSheng :)

Fearless looks good on paper but it's not a very good mastery. The ~10% increased MR/armour isn't bad, but it only lasts 2 seconds and then goes on a long CD. 2 seconds in a fight will go by really fast. Insight on the other hand is always useful, because Braum needs Flash to get out of tough situations and to hard-engage, and more importantly Exhaust is always useful in bot lane fights and make or breaks them. If anything, I'd consider Perseverence to negate poke damage.

Unyielding is actually quite weak. It amplifies only your bonus armour/MR, so not your base armour. Starting the game with about 25ish bonus armour means you'll get a whopping 1.25 armour. It doesn't scale with levels, it only scales with items from that point, meaning eventually once you buy a bunch of armour items, it'll be alright; but until then it's pretty useless. You won't get any armour very quickly either because you need to buy sightstone and boots before you do that. But even later on when you buy, say, an item that gives 60 armour, that'd only equate to 3 extra armour.

Right, didn't know Unyielding doesn't increase the base stats but only the bonus.

I've actually tested Fearless and it's indeed quite weak, which is a shame as it has good potential. Will stick to your mastery page, thanks! :)

Great guide, Braum seems to be a really fun support and this guide helped me through a ranked game when it locked me in as a support and I had no other support champions 😂 I'm still trash with Braum but this guide helped me be a little less trash so +1👌

He can be a lot of fun! I remember when he first came out I probably played about 50 games of just him for the following few days 🙂

I've been using your guide for a long time while learning to play Braum and wanted to say thanks! Also had a question about using a Scaling Health seal instead of the flat health, the scaling gives more health mid/late game so would it be comparable to the flat or is the flat hp better since its a bigger jump early game?

MissMaw (736) | May 18, 2017 11:49am
So personally I like taking health because it's a good early game stat and it makes your Q do more damage. Scaling health is definitely good too though especially in match-ups vs poke/ranged supports (which are more popular atm).

Hey,

you made a small mistake with your explanation about Knights Vow.

You wrote:

When you're near your partner, the damage he deals to enemies will heal you and the damage they take will be redirected towards the attacker and deal true damage.

But should be actually:

When you're near your partner, the damage he deals to enemies will heal you and 12% of the damage they take will be redirected towards you and deal true damage.

I am not trying to be a smart-*** here, but it was confusing for me at first until a friend explained to me how it really works. I think newbies like me should know about the small but mentionable risk the item brings with it.

That aside, your guide is very very nice and because of you, braum is one of my first support choices by now. I really like the fact that you explained trading a bit, because that is something i have most trouble with.

Thank you for taking your time to do this :)

My mistake, I guess it was a bit confusing to me whenever I wrote that or something, I will fix it now thank you :) it's not being a smart ***, it's pointing out a mistake which is very helpful since it's easy for things to slip in when you're writing a big guide, esp if you edit a lot here and there.

Great guide! It really help me out in my Bronze climbing :) Match ups is full of useful info, abilities are explained well and the guide is formatted amazingly! My only question is that, do you think that sacrificing Face of the Mountain for Eye of the Equinox is worth it?(assuming I have/get Locket)

Thanks for the kind words Stronkplonk :3 I think they're both good, perhaps FoTM is a bit better because you get the shield and also Ruby Sightstone which gives you a lot of HP and the item active CDR :)

No worries :) Yeah, I had some game testing between FotM and EotE and I personally think that FotM is a better item (at least for my elo ahah) since I tend to build so much health. Thanks for the reply! :D
