Threats & Synergies
Thresh is easy enough to beat if you wait for him to use his hook THEN attack.
Easy to beat as long as you don't get hit twice by his time bomb.
Ah, the most balanced champion in the game. She's easy if you dodge her sleep bubble, as she is very squishy.
Super easy, just go all in all the time. It will overwhelm her eventually.
He has decent poke, making him a little harder than this matchup should be. If you dodge his ult and go all in whenever he tries to poke, you should win lane.
Much harder than you might think. Her q will poke you down. Her w will render your poke useless. Her e will help her get out of range of your q and e. Lastly, her ult shuts down your q entirely. Not a fun matchup.
Very mobile, hard to land hits, although she does barely any damage. Just try to tank up the hits while your ADC kills her.
Teemo is annoying, but he doesn't exactly pose any kind of threat to Sion. Just try to protect your ADC from his blinding dart.
This is purely skill. Just hope that this Kai'Sa sucks. If not, this goes to 9/10 rating. If she sucks, this goes to 2/10 rating. Generally when playing against her, try to knock her up while your ADC goes all in and wrecks her face.
Evil and annoying. Try to avoid her. Even f she can't kill you, she can still mess you up with her hard CC.
His throw is really annoying and he is naturally faster than you. He also disrupts your q quite easily... try not to go all in unless the ADC is really bad.
Ouch. Im going to start to always ban her. Just try not to engage.
Not much of a threat, but she has a really good escape that can be annoying.
Welcome to my guide, I'm BitBot, and this is my guide to mastering Sion in bronze and silver. I've spent a lot of time on this guide, and will appreciate any feedback from ya'll. Sion is a fun champion to play, as even if he dies, he always gets the last kill (or laugh, whichever).
Behold my guide to ever decimating with Sion. I am constantly trying to update this guide and make it a little better every time. Thank you for reading my guide to winning with Sion.
+ Can Get Very Tanky
+ Extremely Good CC
+ Threat to The Enemy
+ Can kill Even In Death
+ Good Through All Stages
Sion is a very good tank. He stacks health with the passive of Soul Furnace allowing him to become infinitely tanky. However, the reason we can play him support is his outstanding cc. All his attacks except Soul Furnace have some form of crowd control. Glory in Death also allows Sion to be useful even when he is dead. Sion is also very OP in any stage of the game if you get him fed early on.
- Enemy Can Dodge Decimating Smash
- Shut Down By Too Much Hard CC
- Gets Poked Down Easily
- He, uh, he... gimme a sec...
Although strong in almost every way, Sion has a few weaknesses. Sion isn't the best champion against high range champs like Caitlyn. They are able to poke him down while be safe from Decimating Smash. There is also the problem that Decimating Smash can be dodged easily enough by good players. Sion also gets shut down hard by heavy cc from champs like Blitzcrank or Lux.
We want to grab Arcane Comet because it gives extra damage and goes well with Roar of the Slayer, plus the other runes are total trash on him.
Although I would like to have one of the other runes, I soon discovered that Manaflow Band is a necessity as you will have mana problems early game without it. Try to use it with Soul Furnace or Unstoppable Onslaught.
We need Transcendence as it allows Unstoppable Onslaught to be cast more often. While Celerity could be a fine alternate, I tend to lean towards Transcendence as the extra CDR is quite nice.
Gathering Storm is absolutely a 100% necessity. It prevents Sion from falling off during the late stages of the game. I feel so weak late game without this amazing rune. It is the glue that holds Sion together.
I go for Eyeball Collection for the same reason I go for Gathering Storm. We NEED it or else Sion does nothing in later stages of the game.
This rune is necessary as it allows you to get quickly back into lane or just to get around in general. It allows you to set up Sion for a good Unstoppable Onslaught as fast as possible.
Flash: Undisputable. You must have this spell. It is good for getting you out of some dangerous situations. It can also help you land Roar of the Slayer and get an extra kill.
Exhaust: In the case of Sion support, this is also indisputable. It slows the enemy enough to land a Decimating Smash and gives free early game kills.
Glory in Death: This passive makes it so that when Sion dies, he soon after comes back to life at full hP, rapidly losing HP. When in this state, you gain 100% lifesteal, have 1.75 attack speed, and you deal 10% of the target's max HP. Try to use this to your advantage against tanks.
Decimating Smash (Q): [Decimating smash]] is your power ability. The longer you hold Decimating Smash, the more damage it does. Once the animation fully lights up in red, your attack knocks up the enemy.
Soul Furnace (W): This ability is good for soaking up extra poke and taking out things with lots of HP. The passive also allows Sion to keep increasing in HP as the game progresses.
Roar of the Slayer (E): This ability is Sion's main cc attack. It slows the enemy, reduces their armor, and does a decent amount of damage. If used on a minion or monster, it will send them knock them back a good amount, damaging everything in their path.
- Unstoppable Onslaught (R): This is one of the most fun ultimates in League of Legends. Unstoppable Onslaught allows Sion to charge a great distance in one general direction. During that time, he is unstoppable by cc and will head towards your mouse slowly. When he hits a turret or champion, he stops his onslaught. If he hits an enemy champ, he also deals massive damage and knocks them up.
First we want to max Decimating Smash as it is your main damage dealer. Maxing it greatly decreases its CDR, allowing us to use more frequently. It also makes Decimating Smash do significantly more damage. Next we want to max Roar of the Slayer. Roar of the Slayer is our next ability because it is a cc monster. Maxing it massively increases the slow and decreases the CDR by a good amount. Last, we want to max Soul Furnace. The reason we max Soul Furnace last is because maxing it doesn't really do much except maybe a little increased shield and damage. More hurtfully, maxing it increases the mana cost to unbearable amounts for Sion. The longer Sion charges, the more damage he does.
For the bush combo, simply walk into a bush. Once in the bush, use Decimating Smash on the enemy adc/support. Doing this makes the enemy unable to see you while you charge up Decimating Smash.
Basic Engage Combo
Use the Bush Combo for Decimating Smash if possible:
Unstoppable Onslaught Combo
This combo will effectively allow you hard cc your enemy into oblivion:
This item is much needed on Sion, as its passive allows you to safely get CS without screwing up your adc's farm.
This item is a necessity as it raises your vision score significantly. It also allows you to safely farm.
The Ninja Tabi is also a necessity because you will be against ADC who obviously does physical damage.
If you really need them, Mercury's Treads can help you against enemy supports with really hard cc ( Morgana, Lulu, etc.).
This item is really OP on Sion support as it gives a TON of HP and allows you to heal rapidly out of combat.
The Spirit Visage is also quite powerful as it is your main source of magic resist. It also gives decent healing and synergizes well with Warmog's Armor.
This item is good on Sion as it allows you some more movement speed and a good bit of health and armor.
This item should solve Sion's mana problem. It also makes sure that nobody escapes his grasp.
This item is good on Sion because it is basically a Dead Man's Plate except with an AoE passive.
This item was simply made for Sion, allowing him to go into rage after taking a good amount of damage. It is also very offensive for something that grants so much health.
Buy this if the enemy adc has decent lifesteal.
Buy this if any enemy has high crit chance.
The Gargoyle Stoneplate is good if you are building tanky with a bunch of health.
The adaptive helm is good against mages with spam abilities such as Karthus or Teemo. It also provides decent magic resist, health, and base health regen. The extra CDR doesn't hurt.
Only buy this if against an enemy APC or if the enemy has a very fed mage/if the enemy has Zoe or Veigar.
Farming with Sion early game is easy, as you don't really farm. Always make sure to use Relic Shield's passive whenever you have it avaliable to you. Don't hit a minion otherwise. Try to use the passive on a Siege Minion to ensure that you get maximum gold. If your adc is at base and you are in lane, don't be afraid to show those puny Minions no mercy! That pretty much sums up what you need to do in lane.
Out of Lane
Out of lane farming is quite different than in lane farming. With your Eye of the Aspect passive, you should generally always have at least one of the glowing orb things surrounding you. This means you can feel free to get as much cs as you want. Try to intentionally get alot to raise your score, increasing a chance of an S grade. Also, don't forget to use your 6 wards as often as possible.
Whatever you do, DO NOT EVER take farm from your ADC!
In teamfights Sion Should try to be in the front lines of battle. Your objective: CC the enemy into oblivion and tank for your team as long as possible.
If you get low on HP, try to fall back after using Roar of the Slayer on your pursuer.
Try not to use Unstoppable Onslaught to escape unless absolutely necessary.
Sion is a fun champion to play. Try not to follow this guide 100%, adapt to the situation. If you have any thoughts on how I could improve my guide, don't hesitate to leave a comment.
