Grasp of the Undying aplies to jungle's monsters?

You can only proc it on champions, so no. I probably would run Aftershock if I was playing Ornn jungle since you really don't get as much value from Grasp of the Undying while jungling, only from ganking and later on in teamfights Grasp of the Undying is more of meant to be helping in trades while laning.

Note to Vayne Matchup: Either you ban her or you are dead once she reaches lv2. Just encountered her yesterday and it's just terrifying! You have 0 pressure and 0 chances to kill her on your own... A good Jungler SHOULD early gank you or she will start to snowball. You can't even farm safe under tower, but you should be safe from dives early. Later on you better stick with your team or at least one member so you don't offer yourself as free food to her

I think Vayne in general is horrible to face right now. During mid-late game it's almost impossible to kill her unless your team has point and click CC on her since she has basically perma stealth with her ult + Q now.

But to be honest I feel Ornn is actually suffering from not having the shield on his W. I'd much rather have the shield back instead of having unstoppable on it.

Good old times when he had both shield and unstoppable^^ but I actually can't really tell anymore since unstoppable feels good in so many matchups...of course the shield removal is really a downgrade... Do you think Riot would give Ornn both shield and unstoppable back again? Maybe a smaller shield...

Let's wait and see how he does. Patch 9.1 isn't out too long yet.

RIP Ornn's shield on his W... going to play him more now to see how will do in his new shape. Without the shield he will definitly trade different than before, but the regained unstoppable will open new doors for him. Also the new masterwork items and the reworked Passive will allow him to be even more tanky than before, maybe that might compensate for the loss of his shield... Anyways keep us informed about any changes regarding Ornn ;) PS: Gotta take a look over the matchups again since his unstoppable changes them again!

I love that unstoppable is back, since you can again kind of ''avoid'' CC with it. A lot of cool changes for Ornn which I hope bring more play to him again since he isn't played that often in my games at least. His passive will be a big advantage in late game, if the game goes long enough and everyone gets their free upgrade.

Yeah I'll have to have a look into matchups and see what you can do differently now. Mostly gonna be just about timing your W for stuns etc.

Yeah, his reworked Passive is by far better than before, making him tanky enough to be on pair with real tanks since he wasn't that tanky before in my opinion. About the matchups, I will PM you a reworked version of my matchup experience from before Patch 9.1 probably next week Wednesday ;)

How is the matchup section actually going on? Any important progress to upload yet?

I'm trying to finish it before the end of the month. The thing is I haven't played Ornn too much recently so I have been just writing things down and when something comes into mind I write it down. I'd say most usual top lane matchups will be up in the following days but the more niche ones will probably be postponed a bit.

Mind if I help you a bit? Since I didn't stop playing Ornn since his release^^

Just to clarify the question about Jungle Ornn: Yes, He is absolutely viable in Jungle!!! ;)

Possibly yes, however if they decide to remove the shield on his W it will hurt his early clears in terms of health. If that happens he will be much more vulnerable to invades and won't have the early gank chances he has in the current form he has.

The removal of his shield will not only change his laning and trading potential, but also making Shield Bash and Revitalize useless for him... I wonder what will happen...

This is a really good guide. It didn't only help me getting a start on orrn, but it also showed how a good guide is built. Good job man, keep up the good work :D.

Fun question: What do you think about Ornn being played and build as a Bruiser? It's really just for fun :D

PH45 (17) | November 9, 2018 4:10am
As a 4fun playstyle sure I guess. It can be good fun and all since you can dish out a lot of damage while CCing opponents with all the CC Ornn has. Otherwise though I think I'll stick to the tank Ornn.

If you have seen the PBE Rework for Ornn (here the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTtH-Xm8a50): Thoughts an his reworked passive and W? The reworked passive is actually a huge buff for Ornn and his team. The W on the other side is situation dependent. The shield on his W has always been nice and cruel for Ornn to survive and turn the tides of a fight even with the unstoppable being removed, but without the shield you don't have the same feeling of security and confidence in combat.

The passive seems really interesting actually. The stats the upgraded items have are pretty good and for no cost its gonna make difference in late game especially. The removal of shield on W will make his trading worse but at the same time with that you can avoid certain CC abilities which can make a difference in a fight. I think though that Ornn's shield on his W made his trading really strong as most of the time you just get a ton of damage off with your W+auto and you don't take much in return with your shield so in general I think it might be a healthy change. Will have to see if these changes make it to live and how they play out. I haven't played too much Ornn lately but really interested to see how this ends up going.

Do you think Riot can agree on an alternate rework for his W where he still have his shield but being unstoppable at the same time without being overpowered? LLike decreased shield and shorter unstoppable time?

Why do you go Perfect Timeing instead of magicalfootwear or something else? Good guide!

[-]
PH45 (17) | November 2, 2018 10:33am
I like Perfect Timing since allows you to get that Gargoyle Stoneplate a bit faster and also it reduces the cooldown on the active by 15%. Also in general Stopwatch can be useful at a crucial moment. I don't really rate Hextech Flashtraption highly, Magical Footwear is fine but in occasional melee/bruiser matchups I like to rush Ninja Tabis so having that rune will delay that if I haven't gotten any kills/assists early.

What are your thoughts about Time Warp Tonic instad of Stopwatch? In conjunctuion with Corruptive Potion and Biscuits you get the most efficient sustain on lane during the laning phase and with Corruptive Potions passive you can trade better. I see this secondary rune pick very often in high elo and I was told it is in general the best rune right now on Top for most champs who pick Bisciuts and Corruptive Potion. I also pick it myself as a Ornn main almsot every game if I am Top, but back then I used to either pick Magical Footwear or Stopwatch...

PH45 (17) | October 16, 2018 2:45am
1. I'm not god, just decent. :D

2. Ornn is more of an setup champion than an actual carry champion. You have a ton of CC but your team has to make use of it. You can carry your team with him definitely but if all of your teammates are really behind it will be hard for them to do much even with the huge amount of CC Ornn has if they got no damage.

One note to the Synergy Section: I had a great experience with a Maokai Top and myself playing Ornn Jungle. I know that you actually don't play Ornn Jungle, but he is decent in the Jungle. Although you created this guide for Ornn Toplane, I just wanted to mention that either way (Ornn Top with Maokai Jungle or Ornn Jungle with Maokai Top) is just great and creates huge engage potential for your team, even better with a Leona Support. Also Leona's kit works so amazingly well with Ornn's Brittle allowing both to land respectively strong auto attacks.

That's true. Ornn jungle might be decent and can work in certain situations, but I feel if he is picked he can have a hard time vs the stronger junglers like Graves etc. Definitely huge potential if ex. Maokai top and Ornn jungle but at higher level play this might not work as well anymore.
