Doran's Ring allows Jhin to prevent himself from getting shoved in against ADCs that have much more powerful push than he does due to the mana regen allowing him to spam Q more often. Being able to spam Q also gives Jhin a bit more potential to harass with grenades. However, if you have a support that has a lot of kill potential and will likely be wanting to all-in and fight, Doran's Blade is the better option for combat. so TL;DR, take Doran's ring if you know you're pretty much just going to be farming and playing it passive. Hello! My name is Emiru, and I'm a twitch.tv streamer and Diamond Jinx and Jhin player. Ever since Jhin was announced I completely fell in love with everything about him as a character, and have been playing him as one of my main champs ever since. His design, voice lines, and playstyle are all super unique and fun. I picked him up around the time I was Platinum V, and have since peaked in Diamond III.

I spend a decent bit of time trying to keep up on what pros/high elo players are doing on Jhin, what builds are the most effective on him, and testing a lot of things on him both for fun and to learn. I hope my compilation of knowledge can help someone else become more comfortable playing Jhin!

× You want to start Doran's Blade in most lanes, even in many cases where it's a losing lane.
× Doran's Blade is the best choice in lanes where you are expecting to wanting to be trading and/or fighting often.


Doran's Ring

× Since Jhin doesn't excel at pushing waves compared to some other ADCs such as Sivir or Caitlyn, there are times where starting Doran's Ring will help you win lane.
× With Doran's Ring, Jhin can spam his Q Dancing Grenade more often which is extremely useful for both pushing and poking. You will have less combat and all in potential with less damage on your autos, so Doran's Ring is very situational.

× Infinity Edge will be one of your core items on Jhin, in most cases you will want to rush it.
× From time to time I see high elo Jhin players choose to start with a Zeal THEN pick up an IE. If you do this, it allows you to have extra mobility in the early game due to the crits and extra movement speed, but you will be weaker combat-wise until you pick up Infinity Edge. I don't recommend this unless you feel very confident in this buy.


Statikk Shiv

× Crit and attack speed are both valuable stats for Jhin, attack speed buffs his AD due to his passive and both stats buff his mobility through movement speed.
× When building Statikk Shiv, if it fits into your build and the game goes on long enough, you could consider picking up a Stormrazor as well, since the passives of these two items working together can create an AOE slow with autos, which is extremely strong for poking, chasing, kiting, and teamfighting.


Rapid Firecannon

× Rapid Firecannon is a pretty solid mid/late game item for an ADC because of the additional crit power and range (useful for both defensive and offensive purposes!) it provides.
× If you struggle to choose between Statikk Shiv and Rapid Firecannon, shiv is stronger for pushing and AOE damage while RFC is stronger for safe/easy poke and fighting. I would say in most cases RFC is more reliable, but there are many situations where you should pick up both if the game goes on long enough.


Stormrazor

× Stormrazor is an effective item choice if you find yourself needing additional help kiting enemy champions in the mid game, due to the passive which causes Jhin's energized autos to slow.
× I would only recommend getting Stormrazor if there's nothing else you need past your 3 core items, but in most games you will likely be better off with a Last Whisper, defensive item, and/or BT.
× It is not worth it to build stormrazor by itself anymore if you don't already have other energizer items, since the cost has been increased and the base stats have been nerfed. It's not nearly as gold efficient as it once was.


Lord Dominik's Regards

× Lord Dominik's Regards is a good item for when the enemy team has stacked a lot of armor, but in many cases even when the enemy is tanky Mortal Reminder may still be the better choice as a lot of champs are better countered with anti-healing than pure damage stats.
× Situations where you would prefer Lord Dominik's Regards over Mortal Reminder would be when they have armor such as Zhonya's Hourglass or Dead Man's Plate, but the enemy has pretty much no relevant healing sources on their team.


Mortal Reminder

× In most of my recent games where I find myself building Last Whisper, I tend to go Mortal Reminder over Lord Dominik's Regards. Tons of champs in every role have healing, whether it's ADCs with Fleet Footwork or Blade of the Ruined King, the enemy having supports like Nami or Janna, top laners like Darius, and Riot just seems to enjoy packing healing into overloaded champions kits these days. (Ahem, Sylas.) It is fairly rare that you will run into a game where grevious wounds will NOT be a useful addition to your team.
× If armor pen is not a big concern but they still have a lot of healing, for example their entire team is squishy but they have a Soraka, you can just build Executioner's Calling and work on other damage/defensive items and finish the completed Mortal Reminder later. If this is your plan, I would buy Executioner's Calling early, somewhere around while you are working on your second or third item.


Phantom Dancer

× Phantom Dancer's passive is lifeline, which grants a shield if you take damage that would make your HP fall below 30%. This makes it an effective anti-burst item, and useful against assassins.
× You can look at Phantom Dancer as an alternative to Guardian Angel for a late game defensive/survival item. The additional crit and attack speed to boost Jhin's movement speed and damage are quite nice too.


Essence Reaver

× Essence Reaver is a less popular alternative first pick up item to Infinity Edge. With Essence Reaver, you will have less raw damage but be able to spam more abilities.
× If you decide to do the Essence Reaver build, you will want to buy it first. After that, pick up a Zeal item then you will still want to grab Infinity Edge.
× When you decide to go ER over IE, you are choosing to sacrifice damage over utility essentially. You will be using the extra mana and CDR to spam W's and R's to be looking to engage and find picks. I would not recommend this build for solo queue unless you feel very confident in your team, as it relies more on team play than solo play.


Mercurial Scimitar

× When playing ADC, your goal in the mid and late game is to do as much damage to the enemy team and objectives as possible without getting caught and killed. Even when you are positioning your best, some CC is very hard to avoid or mistakes happen. Mercurial Scimitar's active is your "one free oopsie doopsie" card. Don't forget to use it, and use it wisely.
× Similar to my note about Executioner's Calling and Mortal Reminder, sometimes it is more efficient to build Quicksilver Sash in the early or mid game and finish Mercurial Scimitar later if the game goes that long. If you are getting locked down by stuns, roots, etc. a lot, consider buying a Quicksilver Sash earlier rather than later.


Guardian Angel

× Typically, I only build Guardian Angel when they have a threat that is very difficult to avoid dying to, such as a fed Zed or another huge threat. In ideal situations, most deaths CAN be avoided by positioning properly or properly choosing when to take fights, but there are times where you’re just pretty much expecting to die in teamfights. That’s okay, just build a Guardian Angel.
× Only build Guardian Angel as a late game item, ideally your last item. There are exceptions of course, but if you find yourself dying over and over in mid/late game the problem probably isn’t not having GA, it’s likely your positioning/decision making/map awareness. Use your movement speed passive to your advantage, and stay out of reach of the enemy team.
× Again, similar to Executioner's Calling and Quicksilver Sash, buying a Stopwatch ahead of time can end up turning the tide of a fight and give you a lead if used properly.


The Bloodthirster

× There isn’t a huge need to pick up more lifesteal for Jhin, especially since the best rune for him ATM is Fleet Footwork, and Mercurial Scimitar already offering lifesteal plus utility that The Bloodthirster can’t really compete with. However, it is definitely still a viable item on Jhin and other ADCs which is why I am making a note about it. I just believe in most builds, you are better off investing in other items if you would like additional damage or lifesteal.
× That all being said, if CC is not a problem and what you are looking for is even more sustain, The Bloodthirster isn’t a bad option. But if you are simply looking for extra damage, I’d personally choose another Zeal item like Rapid Firecannon or Phantom Dancer for additional crit + movespeed.


Boots of Swiftness

× The reason that Boots of Swiftness are the staple boots on Jhin is because especially once Jhin has some crit items, his movement speed is his main tool to survive and chase down kills. Swifties boost this power.
× Sometimes, buying Boots of Swiftness very early is a good choice because the extra movement speed can make dodging skillshots and getting away from engages much easier.


Berserker's Greaves

× Berserker's Greaves are still viable for Jhin even though they're rarely bought because attack speed still gives Jhin a boost in damage due to his passive Whisper.
× Situations where I would buy Berserker's Greaves are cases where I want more damage but I'm not too focused on needing movement speed. But in 99% of cases, the synergy of Boots of Swiftness with Jhin's kit is just too good to pass up.
× If you feel that you need/want additional damage late game, you can consider swapping your Boots of Swiftness for Berserker's Greaves.


Ninja Tabi

× Remember that while Ninja Tabi provides armor, their main strength comes from reducing the damage of basic attacks. Meaning, Ninja Tabi probably won't help that much if you are struggling against a fed Zed or Rengar as most of their damage comes from abilities and not autos, and you are likely better off investing in a Guardian Angel in that scenario.
× You want to avoid building Ninja Tabi on Jhin if you don't truly need it because it causes your damage output to be decreased. Your job as ADC is to be consistent damage for your team. However, in cases where their entire team is auto attackers, their primary sources of damage are all auto attackers, or they've picked Draven it definitely doesn't hurt and will help counter their comp.


❌ Mercury's Treads ❌

× I'm only making a note about this because from time to time (very rarely) I will see Jhins or other ADCs build Mercury's Treads. Do not build them on him.
× The reason why you don't want to build Mercury's Treads is because tenacity as a stat is fairly useless on an ADC. Why? The odds are, if you have been caught by CC (especially mid/late game) tenacity won't help you becuase you will already be dead or taken so much damage that you will have to back.
× The +25 magic resist is NOT worth picking over the benefits of other boot choices for Jhin.
× If you need CC protection, get Quicksilver Sash. If you need magic resist, Mercurial Scimitar or even Maw of Malmortius.



If/when lethality Jhin makes a comeback in the meta, I will update this section with details about those items.



ADC Matchups Back to Top
One of the most important things about laning phase is simply knowing your matchups, how to play them, and what to expect. Jhin has a decent amount of kill potential in most lanes, and benefits greatly from achieving a lead in lane and carrying it across the map. In this section, I will be detailing playing Jhin vs. each "standard" ADC plus a little bonus for some of the rarer bot lane picks such as Yasuo or Mordekaiser.

In general, what you can expect during lane as Jhin is trading with Q's and autos, avoiding taking harass, farming (obviously) and looking to set up engages/ganks with your team. Jhin scales fairly well so losing lane on him isn't the end of the world, but he has a lot of strengths that make winning lane on him fantastic for carrying a game.



ASHE

Ashe is very immobile, making her weak to ganks and all-ins. Try to put her in a position where it will be easy for your jungler to gank her and/or allow your support to engage on her and follow up with W Deadly Flourish.
In lane, be aware of her W Volley and avoid taking free poke damage by positioning behind minions.
Poke and harass her with Q's and autos (use Fourth shot if you can), as she cannot trade back nearly as effectively. When she walks up to CS, try to get a Q and auto onto her for free damage.
Once Ashe hits 6, you need to be wary of her ult Enchanted Crystal Arrow, especially if their support has CC that can follow up or vice versa.

WIN CONDITION: Abuse her for her weak laning phase by setting her up to be vulnerable for ganks and harassing her with poke. Look for chances to all in her with your support. Be careful of her level 6 power. Jhin should be able to win this lane fairly easily, so long as he doesn't make mistakes and end up giving her free kills.


CAITLYN

In this lane, Caitlyn will most likely try to push in and bully Jhin. Avoid allowing her to do this, you may want to start Doran's Ring to be able to spam more Q's to try to prevent her hard shove and sustain with an extra health pot.
In the event that you do get shoved under your tower, be wary of sneaky Yordle Snap Traps hidden behind the tower. If you step in one, it'll give Caitlyn a lot of free damage.
Avoid using only autos in trading with her (the exception is if she lets you get Fourth shot onto her), since she outranges you greatly she will be able to get in more autos than you can while you run up and/or back. Use your Q as well, this is another reason it is beneficial to consider starting Doran's Ring in this lane.
All in all, Caitlyn will be looking to poke Jhin and shove the wave. If you can avoid taking too much harass, staying even in CS and try to prevent allowing her to get free tower plates, you will be in a good position to punish her and kill her.

WIN CONDITION: Consider starting Doran's Ring in this lane, especially if Caitlyn has a support that applies a lot of lane pressure. Avoid taking too much harass or losing CS, and look for an opportunity to punish her with an all in.


DRAVEN

Jhin will pretty much never win fights against Draven unless Draven gets himself caught or has fallen extremely behind in HP/gold (but a Draven that is behind is still dangerous.) Avoid getting greedy and trying to fight him when it doesn't look free, especially early.
Consider buying Ninja Tabi early, but remember that the Ninja Tabi still don't mean you will be able to 1v1 him in most cases.
Due to Draven's Q Spinning Axe and his passive, he will likely be pushing the wave nonstop. This makes him a good target for your jungler, but Jhin needs to do his best to stay healthy while waiting for an opportunity to all-in him. Similarly, if your jungler is low on health or weak, tell them to not come. A 3v2 ending with Draven getting kills can be disastrous. It's better to stay behind and wait to outscale Draven than to give him kills in a desperate attempt to shut him down early. It's just not worth it if that will be the outcome.
Draven also excels at dives, so ward accordingly, set up traps in places that would help you in the event of a dive, and know when to just back off your tower.

WIN CONDITION: Do not give him kills. If a fight with Draven looks bad or risky, it probably is. Farm, scale, and wait for an opportunity to punish and all-in Draven.


EZREAL

Pretty much all of Ezreal's lane pressure is in his Q Mystic Shot and his W Essence Flux. Take advantage of your minions to avoid getting hit by Q Mystic Shot, but be aware that W Essence Flux can pass through minions and all it takes is an auto or E Arcane Shift bolt to pop it.
If you can avoid getting hit by Q Mystic Shot (consider buying early boots to aid in sidestepping if it's a problem), Jhin is 100% the bigger lane bully. Harass Ezreal with auto attacks and Q's, and try to push him out of the lane.
Some Ezreal players like to take Teleport. If you see an Ezreal with Teleport, it means that he is planning to get enough for Tear of the Goddess, back, then TP back to lane. If you see him do this, try to deny him as many creeps as possible. You might want to try to hard shove the wave into tower early.
Once Ezreal has his R Trueshot Barrage he has a lot better all-in combat potential than Jhin so keep this in mind.

WIN CONDITION: Avoid his harass by positioning and dodging in lane, and bully him back with fourth shots and Q's. You outscale him anyway, but putting him behind in the early game will make the game much easier.


JINX

It should be very easy for Jhin to bully Jinx in lane, due to her low range and weak early game. Force trades on her with autos and Q's whenever there is an opportunity, and try to bully her out of lane.
When your Fourth shot is up, try not to use it immediately on the minions if you can hold it. Either use it on her, or if she isn't in range, you can use it to threaten her as she will likely back off the minions to avoid taking the damage.
Look for opportunities to all in her, if you have been harassing her and reducing her health it should be even easier. Follow up your support with W Deadly Flourish, or try to get W onto her yourself.
It's very easy to shove against Jinx early without meaning to while spamming Q's, so be wary of enemy jungler ganks. Jinx snowballs very quickly if given a few early kills, you want to avoid this at all costs. You want to shut her down early.

WIN CONDITION: Trade aggressively with her, try to all in her or harass her out of lane. Be wary of being punished for aggression by enemy ganks.


KAI'SA

Kai'Sa has low range and is fairly weak in lane, so try to abuse her for this. Use autos, fourth shots and Q's on her when there is an opportunity.
Before 6, you should try to all-in Kai'Sa if possible. She doesn't have a reliable means of escape besides a small burst of movement speed from E Supercharger, so she is vulnerable. Just be wary of over-committing, and letting her get her passive Second Skin onto you too much.
Also due to her low mobility, try to set up ganks on her with your team. She is an ADC that is valuable to shut down early.
Once she hits 6, Jhin needs to start being wary of Kai'Sa as her all-in potential becomes much stronger with her ult Killer Instinct. I wouldn't suggest trying to 1v1 her at this point, unless she is very weak.

WIN CONDITION: Harass her and bully her as much as possible in lane, and look for opportunities to all-in her early while her combat potential isn't the best. Just be cautious of extended trades, as her passive benefits from long trades wheras Jhin's kit doesn't.


KALISTA

When trading with Kalista, Jhin will want to look for short/efficient trades, like Fourth shot + Q then running back.
The longer a fight goes on with Kalista, the less likely Jhin is to win since the more Rend stacks Kalista builds up, the more dangerous she is.
To beat Kalista, Jhin will need to bully her out of lane with short/efficient trades or by waiting for his support and/or jungler to lock her down. Don't try to take extended fights with her besides in cases like this, as Jhin will more than likely lose.
Once Kalista hits 6, Jhin needs to be extra cautious about being pushed up or alone as it will be very easy for Kalista and her support to catch him with her ult Fate's Call. Plan accordingly.

WIN CONDITION: Take short but good trades with her, avoid engaging in extended fights. So long as Kalista doesn't become a monster in lane, Jhin will outscale so just don't take any dumb fights and he will win.


KOG'MAW

Kog'Maw is extremely immobile and scales extremely hard, so Jhin needs to do his best to take advantage of his early weaknesses to shut him down and come out on top.
Poke him with Fourth shots, Q's and autos as much as possible. Also look for opportunities to snare him with W Deadly Flourish for all-in potential.
Whittle down his health, and look for opportunities to all-in him or create a gankable situation for your team.
Be wary of over-committing and taking the full duration of his W Bio-Arcane Barrage, as in this case Kog'Maw will win the fight and it may be hard for Jhin to make a comeback.

WIN CONDITION: Take short trades with him as much as possible, and try to bully him and look for opportunities to all-in/punish him. Don't give him free kills, and the game should be easy.


LUCIAN

Lucian will likely look for opportunities to all in Jhin and get his full combo off on him, so watch for this and try to react accordingly.
Though Jhin's early combat potential isn't as good as Lucian's, Jhin can abuse his range advantage to try to get favorable trades onto Lucian.
To win this lane, you will have to try to get poke/good trades onto Lucian whenever possible, otherwise you will probably get pressured out of lane.
Though Jhin will outscale Lucian, a Lucian with a huge early lead can become very oppressive. Try to keep even with him as much as possible, and look for chances to punish him for overextending.

WIN CONDITION: Avoid getting all-in'd, and poke him with Q's and autos as much as possible to try to keep his HP below yours. Stay even in CS, and outscale him out of lane.


MISS FORTUNE

One of the most important things you need to do in a Miss Fortune lane is pay attention to the health of your own minions to avoid taking a ton of damage from Q Double Up.
You will want to constantly be re-positioning in lane in order to avoid letting her Q bounce to you. Farm with caution.
If you can avoid her Q's, you should be able to out-trade her in lane with your Fourth shot passive and Q's.
Once she hits 6, Jhin needs to be wary of her R Bullet Time. It can turn a fight very easily in favor of Miss Fortune, or cause Jhin to have to blow summoner spells. Always be wary of choke points/fighting in the jungle for the remainder of the game.

WIN CONDITION: Pay attention to your minions to avoid letting her get Q Double Up bounce onto you. Try to out-bully her in lane. You will outscale, just be wary of her ult Bullet Time as this is her main danger past level 6 and out of laning phase.


SIVIR

Sivir is a hard pusher and scaler, but she has extremely low range, so Jhin can bully her very hard in lane with her superior range and abilities.
You can try to use your Q to bait out her Spell Shield, because without Spell Shield a caught out Sivir will die very quickly. You can then use your W Deadly Flourish on her to try to lock her down, or your support can follow up with their abilities or vice versa.
Past level 6, be cautious about being caught out alone or pushed up since Sivir and her team can run you down easily with On The Hunt.
You can consider starting Doran's Ring in this lane if you wish, so that you can use the additional mana to spam Q's to push the wave back against her and have additional poking power.

WIN CONDITION: Avoid allowing her to shove in, punish her for her low range and weak early game. Be careful about being caught out by her ult, especially in the mid and late game.


TRISTANA

Similar to other ADCs that are weak earlier and stronger later, you will want to try to take advantage of your strong short trades.
Even early, avoid taking extended trades with her. If you stay in combat with her for too long, she will be able to pop her E Explosive Charge, and get a free W Rocket Jump which will likely cause Jhin to die or have to blow summoner spells.
Tristana can take out towers very quickly and easily, so keep this in mind and try to time your backs accordingly so that she can't get free tower damage, avoid getting pushed in, and try to rotate to match her in other parts of the map.
Avoid 1v1ing her at all points of the game, unless she is extremely far behind.

WIN CONDITION: Bully her in lane, and don't die to her by over-committing to fights or getting caught out. She will outscale you, so you need to do your best to secure an early lead.


TWITCH

Twitch is another ADC that will be very easy for Jhin to abuse in the lane. Harass him with Q's and Fourth shots, and don't allow him to farm freely.
Try to take only short but meaningful trades, because the longer you engage in a fight with Twitch the less likely you are to win due to his Deadly Venom stacks. Take short trades then run back.
Look for opportunities to all-in him and punish him for his low mobility.
More than any other ADC, Twitch is the one you will want to be spam pinging about when he goes missing from your lane. Help your team be aware of his attempts to roam.

WIN CONDITION: Take short trades to try to bully him out of lane and get a CS lead, and look for chances to all-in and kill him. Be wary of his stealth ganks/flanks at all points of the game, and help your team know when he has gone missing.


VARUS

You may want to consider buying early boots if you struggle to avoid getting hit by Varus's Q Piercing Arrow.
Like other immobile ADCs, you will be looking to try to harass Varus in lane and look for chances to all-in him, and set up opportunities for your team to gank him and kill him.
At level 6, you will want to try to keep your distance from him or be ready to Flash to avoid his Chain of Corruption.
Varus isn't in the best spot in the current meta, so don't feel too pressured to stomp him in lane. You will outscale him and be more relevant later in the game due to crit item power.

WIN CONDITION: Harass and look to all in, be wary of getting locked down and dying at level 6. You will outscale him because your items are in a better state than his.


VAYNE

Like other ADCs with stacking auto attack passives, you will want to avoid taking extended trades with Vayne because of her Silver Bolts. It is better to walk up and throw an Q + auto, then back off.
You will want to do your best to bully Vayne in lane, try to punish her with damaging her when she walks up to farm.
Once she hits 6, you will never want to 1v1 her. You will not win unless she is extremely behind.
Be wary of her running you down or flanking you, since her passive Night Hunter will allow her to chase you down. This is mainly a concern if the two of you are farming lane together alone, and she has ult.

WIN CONDITION: Try to put her behind and kill her in lane while she is weak. Be careful about 1v1ing her, and be wary of her flanking potential.


XAYAH

Pay attention to the position of Xayah's Clean Cuts feathers, so that you don't get rooted or take a lot of damage for free.
Prior to level 6 when Xayah gets her ult Featherstorm, she is very vulnerable to ganks and all-ins. Try to harass her during this time, or try to freeze the wave near your tower to make her an easy gank target for your team.
Remember that at level 6 she can also use her ult to dodge your bullets, so try to hold Curtain Call until she has already used her ult, if possible. If not, just keep in mind that she can dodge one of your shots for free with Bladecaller.
Unlike other scaling ADCs, due to her kit, Xayah is much better at early all-ins than other ADCs, especially if she has a Rakan. Be careful about getting engaged on by her support.

WIN CONDITION: Play cautiously to avoid getting hit by her feathers if possible. Harass her in lane. Don't forget about her R Bladecaller.


OTHER: NON-MARKSMEN

The popularity of playing non-marksmen comes and goes, but every so often you will see a wild Yasuo or Mordekaiser in your game... or some other fighter or mage taking on the role of bot lane carry.
In most of these lanes, assuming they aren't troll picking, the reason non-marksmen become popular in bot lane is because they are stronger than traditional bot lane carries in the laning phase and have a good chance to come out ahead.
The enemy bot line will likely be looking for chances to all-in Jhin, so you will want to play it safe. Look to abuse your range to get autos and grenades onto them.
You can expect to just do your best to not get killed, and keep your CS up as much as possible.

WIN CONDITION: Usually if you just don't die in these lanes you will end up being more useful for your team than they are. Since their team probably won't have a marksmen at all, your team will have an advantage in taking objectives like dragon, towers and baron. Just do your best to scale and not feed. If you manage to pick up kills on them it's even better.



Support Synergies Back to Top
While Jhin possesses a lot of raw damage, he is not good at 1v1s and he can't peel himself very well. You will have a tough time setting up kills by yourself, and you will have a tough time surviving teamfights without teamwork. This is a very frustrating part of playing ADC and Solo Queue in general, but remember that teamwork is a two way street. Being nice to your support and/or peeler - or at the VERY least, not flaming/blaming them - goes a long way. Perform your best, don't complain or blame others in chat, and 90% of players will respond positively.

Be friendly to your support or just don't say anything at all. You need them as much as they need you.

In unfortunate cases where your support just isn't having the best game or being cooperative, do your best to take whatever farm you can safely to work towards buying your items, ward yourself if needed, stop trying committing to bad fights if trying to save them from dying causes you to die, group with other teammates after laning phase and instruct them on how to help your team without being condescending.



PLAYING WITH ALISTAR
Try to hold onto/not waste your W Deadly Flourish so if Alistar finds a good engage, you will be able to follow up and chain CC.
Stand near Alistar at all times so that he can more easily save you, peel you, or you can quickly follow up on any picks he finds without delay.
Look to try to bully/harass the enemy laners under their tower, then look for potential tower dives with Alistar and/or your jungler, but don't force it.
PLAYING AGAINST ALISTAR
Take advantage of him being melee to try to get autos on him, but remember to keep your distance once he gets his abilities. Jhin is fairly easy to lock down, once Alistar can get on top of him.
Avoid getting hit by Alistar's combo at all, but if it happens, be ready to react with W Deadly Flourish to try to prevent him from getting his stun auto off. Jhin can also try to lay down traps ahead of time to slow Alistar if he tries to engage/chase.


PLAYING WITH BARD
When Bard is in lane with you, look to play/trade aggressively. You both have a lot of early damage with your autos and abilities, and can CC lock a target very easily which may result in easy early kills.
When Bard roams, do your best to play safely because the enemy bot lane will look to engage on you if they realize you are alone. If Bard roams successfully, it will build a lead for your team so just let him do his thing and play safe.
PLAYING AGAINST BARD
Be cautious of Bard's Q Cosmic Binding and his passive autos. (meeps hurt :/) They can do an unexpected amount of damage.
Be aware of Bard's flank n gank potential with his Magical Journey tunnel, if you push against bard and/or don't ward it could be dangerous. Wards in areas bard will want to tunnel from will help you and your support stay safe.


PLAYING WITH BLITZCRANK
Blitzcrank offers a lot of lane pressure, so try to take advantage of this and pressure the enemy bot lane. Just remember not to go for extended trades unless Blitz lands a hook.
Hold onto W Deadly Flourish to use if Blitzcrank lands a hook. Try to be within auto range of him at all times, so that you are always ready to follow up on a pick/engage.
In the mid-game, remember that his cooldowns are fairly long and he will not be able to offer the best peeling for you. Therefore, it is better to look for picks than outright 5 on 5 teamfights.
PLAYING AGAINST BLITZCRANK
Position yourself behind minions, poke Blitzcrank with autos and so long as you don't get hooked repeatedly you will come out of lane fine. Just be cautious to stay behind your team and not get hooked once laning phase ends, because in teamfights this will pretty much mean instant death.
Buying tier 2 boots early in the game will help you sidestep Blitzcrank's Rocket Grab with more ease. If he doesn't hit his hook, he loses pretty much all of his pressure, and you can kite him around very easily or simply ignore him and go for his ADC.


PLAYING WITH BRAND
Trade/poke very aggressively in this lane. The early pressure of this lane is insane, and both Brand and Jhin scale pretty well to boot. Try to bully the enemy laner as much as possible, and look for early kills or force the enemy ADC to miss CS by needing to back or having to back off the wave.
Though Brand and Jhin should be the dominant laners in most lanes, remember not to put yourselves in a position to be punished. Ward, and don't overcommit/overextend.
PLAYING AGAINST BRAND
Regardless of what ADC Brand has, I would usually recommend considering Doran's Shield in this lane, or Boots of Speed and four pots if you feel confident in using the extra movement speed to avoid his skillshots. Survival and sustain are key. If you keep yourself healthy, you can look to punish him with an all-in.
When Brand's abilities are on cooldown/if he misses them, look to trade with him and his ADC.


PLAYING WITH BRAUM
Trade when you can in this lane, but don't be overly aggressive. In most cases, Braum will need to land his Q Winter's Bite to create a good engage, and if he ends up needing to jump to you to save your HP he will be punished.
Follow up on his slows and help him proc his stun on enemy champs, and remember that if he gets caught to let him W Stand Behind Me to you to escape if you can.
PLAYING AGAINST BRAUM
Braum strongly relies on hitting his Q Winter's Bite to be any threat in lane. Dodge his abilities, and be wary of him attempting to jump onto minions near you with W Stand Behind Me.
Take advantage of his melee range to poke him with autos whenever he walks up to the wave to try to get Relic Shield stacks. Avoid using W Deadly Flourish on him if his HP isn't low or he isn't way out of position, try to save it for the ADC.


PLAYING WITH FIDDLESTICKS
Early in the lane, focus on farming/poking. Go for short trades with Q's and fourth shots.
Fiddlesticks won't have a lot to offer pre-6, besides E Dark Wind poke and possibly a good fear for an engage or counter engage. Play it slow, and look to set up the wave so that when Fiddlesticks has level 6 he can look to try to get an engage with R Crowstorm. He can do this from bushes, or over walls.
PLAYING AGAINST FIDDLESTICKS
Past 6, if you can't see Fiddlesticks on the map, just assume that he is trying to get a surprise Crowstorm onto you or someone else on your team. Make sure to ping when he is missing, and play as if he could be ulting from any unwarded bush or wall.
Getting a Quicksilver Sash against Fid is very good for living in the mid/late game, as his fear lasts forever (especially later in the game) and cleansing it will make your chances of survival much higher.


PLAYING WITH JANNA
When your Janna puts her E Eye Of The Storm shield on you, take advantage of the increased AD and protection and try to get a decent trade on the enemy bot lane with autos.
Look to play passively and farm in this lane. Poke when you can, and focus on scaling and buying your items.
PLAYING AGAINST JANNA
Especially if you have an aggressive support, look to trade and poke a lot in this lane. Play aggressively.
If you do not have an aggressive support, the lane will most likely be a farm lane. Try to freeze near your tower but not under it and pink ward accordingly so your jungler can try to gank.

PLAYING WITH KARMA
Though Karma is a shielding/peel support, you can look to play a bit more aggressively with her.
Follow up on any Q slows she gets with your own Q + autos if you can, and if she lands a tether look to CC lock and punish the target.
PLAYING AGAINST KARMA
Be aware that Karma can use her empowered Q Inner Flame on minions near you and cause it to hit you, as it is AOE. Therefore, be aware of her poke even when hiding behind your creeps.
If Karma wastes her Q or E, take advantage of it and punish her for it by throwing autos onto her.


PLAYING WITH LEONA
Try to save/not waste your W Deadly Flourish so that you can have it available for follow up on her Zenith Blade and Shield of Daybreak if she finds a good engage.
Look to play aggressively early, trade with the enemy lane and look to engage/follow up when she lands her abilities.
Always stand within auto attack range of Leona so that if you get yourself caught, she can try to save you or you can be ready if she engages.
PLAYING AGAINST LEONA
Take advantage of Leona's melee range and poke her with autos but be mindful not to put yourself in a bad spot where she can E Zenith Blade onto you for free.
If she wastes her E Zenith Blade by missing it, you can afford to play a bit more aggressively but be cautious of her Flash and Q Shield of Daybreak combo.
You may need to consider an early Quicksilver Sash in the mid game. An immediate QSS on her Solar Flare can quickly turn an otherwise unfavorable fight.


PLAYING WITH LULU
Look to take short and efficient trades, since Lulu can either help you trade with her damaging abilities or shield/enhance Jhin.
Though you shouldn't struggle too much to take favorable trades nor, is Jhin + Lulu a weak lane, you don't offer much early kill pressure so you should look to farm and scale. Lulu should be able to help you survive in teamfights and/or buff your damage/movespeed.
PLAYING AGAINST LULU
In most lanes against Lulu, you can look to trade aggressively but be extra careful of taking extended trades.
Be cautious of Lulu casting Help, Pix! on minions or even on Jhin himself for poke damage with Glitterlance.
If you are able to chunk Lulu out with grenades and autos, her and her ADC won't be able to commit to an all-in.


PLAYING WITH LUX
Look to follow up Lux's cc with your W, and look for chances to all in. This lane should be very good at picking people and catching them out.
This lane tends to only work out when played aggressively, so focus on taking good trades often.
PLAYING AGAINST LUX
Lux is only a threat if she lands her abilities, if you focus on not getting chain CC'd she won't be able to do much.
Pay attention to the cooldown of her abilities, early in the game if she misses her Q it'll leave a decent window for you and your support to attempt to all-in.


PLAYING WITH MORGANA
Make sure to try to hold onto W Deadly Flourish to follow up on Morgana's Q Dark Binding.
If Morgana wastes her Black Shield, you will want to play safely for a bit as the enemy may try to take advantage of Morgana not having it by engaging on her ADC and/or trying to set up a gank.
Look to follow up on Dark Bindings, if you play the lane aggressively but patiently you should come out with a lot of pressure.
PLAYING AGAINST MORGANA
If you struggle to dodge Morgana's Dark Binding, consider buying Boots of Speed or even early tier 2 boots for more help sidestepping her binding.
At early levels, you can use your Deadly Flourish to try to pop her spell shield before your support tries to use their CC.
Buying a Quicksilver Sash is recommended if you struggle to avoid getting hit by Dark Binding or if she flash + ults you in a teamfight (remember to use qss AFTER the stun goes off at the end of her ult)


PLAYING WITH NAMI
Trade aggressively, Nami can contribute to poke in trades and she can keep you healthy.
Nami's cooldowns are pretty long especially in the early game, so keep this in mind and try not to take aggressive trades if Nami's Aqua Prison and Ebb and Flow are down.
PLAYING AGAINST NAMI
Nami's bubble Aqua Prison takes a bit of time to land, in most cases it will be very easy to dodge so long as you stay moving and don't stand still.
Trading with Nami can be a pain because of her Ebb and Flow bounce, so avoid staying too close to her so she can't get free poke or healing off of one W.


PLAYING WITH NAUTILUS
Focus on trying to stay near Nautilus, so that if he manages to land a good hook you will be ready/in range to follow up on his engage.
Because of Nautilus's long cooldowns, if he misses a hook look to play passively since the enemy team will likely try to take advantage of this.
Farm and scale, and look for engages to follow up on with W Deadly Flourish and auto attacks.
PLAYING AGAINST NAUTILUS
If you find yourself getting hooked or within melee rnage of Nautilus, if he uses his Riptide near you try to hold in place if possible because otherwise you may run through his additional outer explosions, taking more damage.
Nautilus uses a lot of mana early, so if he misses a few hooks and goes OOM try to abuse him and his laner to take advantage of it.


PLAYING WITH PYKE
Pyke offers a lot of pressure at all points in the game, focus on aggressive play and looking for kills.
When skirmishing and teamfighting with Pyke past level 6, it is better to leave the kills for Pyke if he has his ult Death from Below since your team will get 2x the gold and there is a chance he will be able to reset his ult to cast it more times.
PLAYING AGAINST PYKE
I strongly recommend buying and upgrading early Boots of Speed, not just for dodging Pyke's hook Bone Skewer but also for trying to avoid his stun Phantom Undertow. If he misses E, he will likely put himself in a poor position.
Avoid standing near low health allies in fights because if he ults them, the damage will likely also hit you for free, then if he kills them he can just ult you again for free.


PLAYING WITH RAKAN
The odds are you will not have much pressure in this lane pre-6, so look to farm and take short trades and wait for Rakan's level 6 and ganks.
Don't forget that Rakan can dash to allies with Battle Dance, so remember to try to stay close to him so he can both protect you, or jump to you to escape from an unfavorable engage.
PLAYING AGAINST RAKAN
Once he hits 6, it is very easy for him to get on top of Jhin and CC lock him. Be wary of this, and keep your distance or try to bait him into a bad fight.
Buying early Boots of Speed in lane makes his knockup pretty easy to avoid, and you can easily take advantage of his melee range and how squishy he is early to harass him with autos and grenades.


PLAYING WITH SONA
Expect to mostly be farming and playing the lane slowly, Sona isn't the most useful support early but she will scale and become strong.
When Sona uses Q Hymn of Valor make sure you step into her aura to gain a free empowered auto. Use it to trade if possible, and trade when she gives you Summon Aery or W Aria of Perseverance shield.
PLAYING AGAINST SONA
In most cases, focusing Sona early in fights is the right way to go as she is extremely squishy at all points in the game and she can sustain/buff her allies very quickly and easily if ignored. Once Jhin has a few items, he can burst Sona with just a few bullets so if it is possible you will likely want to kill her first.
Avoid clustering against Sona so she can't get an easy multi-person Crescendo.


PLAYING WITH SORAKA
Some Sorakas like to play passively, and some like to play aggressively, if you have a passive Soraka expect to just be farming and waiting to follow up on engages from others in teamfights. If you have an aggressive Soraka, work with her to harass the enemy bot lane and get an HP and CS advantage.
While Soraka is all about healing and protecting her allies, using her Astral Infusion depletes her own health so try not to make her work TOO hard to save your *** as it will end up putting both of you behind.
PLAYING AGAINST SORAKA
Depending on how much poke the enemy AD has, you may want to consider getting Doran's Shield or Boots of Speed and 4 pots against Soraka because many Soraka players like to use Starcall and Equinox to harass in the laning phase
Regardless of what healing the rest of Soraka's team has, you will pretty much always want to grab an Executioner's Calling somewhat early, ideally some time AFTER you've finished your first two to three items unless Soraka is too oppressive.


PLAYING WITH TAHM KENCH
For the most part you will just be farming and looking for decent small trades, unless Tahm Kench manages to get a stun or devour on the enemy bot lane.
Even though Tahm Kench can Devour you to save you from a bad decision, you still need to play cautiously. Needing to be eaten by Tahm Kench in the middle of a teamfight to survive means Jhin won't be out there doing damage.
PLAYING AGAINST TAHM KENCH
As long as Jhin keeps his distance from Tahm Kench and dodges his Tongue Lash, Tahm Kench will have a difficult time being a huge threat in his current state. Kite him around, and bully him in lane.
Be aware of his ult Abyssal Voyage when pushing past level 6, he can bring the enemy jungler or mid to flank very easily.


PLAYING WITH TARIC
Taric isn't the best support in lane, but he scales very well and will become very useful in teamfights and once he has CDR. Farm and scale.
Try to position yourself nearby Taric at all times during laning phase and fights to get full effectiveness of his Bastion. If you are ready and in position, you can help him land his Dazzle more easily or on more people. Additionally, while he is ulting, if you are not the person he is bound to you will need to be very close to him or the bound person to get his ult.
PLAYING AGAINST TARIC
Auto him whenever he tries to go for creeps for his Relic Shield stacks.
If you stay moving while he casts his E Dazzle, it is very easy to avoid without using Flash in most scenarios.
Taric may try to get on top of you to spam abilities to abuse his passive Bravado, which gives his autos extra magic damage and reduces the cooldown of his abilities. Try to avoid allowing him to do this. He can do a surprising amount of damage in early skirmishes.


PLAYING WITH THRESH
Play aggressively, and try to look for kills. Thresh is exceptional at setting up kills and ganks.
As with any other engage support, remember to always be within range of him so if he lands a hook and goes in, you are ready/within range to follow up on him quickly. If you are not ready to follow up, he may end up dying because you weren't ready to help.
REMEMBER TO CLICK THE LANTERN
PLAYING AGAINST THRESH
Try to sidestep his abilities with confidence and harass him early with rockets, especially if he misses a hook or flay. Buy early boots if needed.
Always be aware of Thresh's lantern Dark Passage, as a tool for both saving his teammates and killing enemies. Ward in areas he may lantern his jungler from, and throw down wards on his lantern to try to prevent his allies from being able to click it.


PLAYING WITH VEL'KOZ
Work with Vel'Koz to harass and bully the enemy team, and look for potential CC chains. If vel'koz catches someone in his E, if you are with him to harass and W it will be extremely good for your lane.
At level 6, try to save your ult to follow up/combo with Vel'Koz's ult Life Form Disintegration Ray. His ult's slow will make it very easy to hit your Curtain Call shots.
PLAYING AGAINST VEL'KOZ
Make sure to dodge his abilities and try to get autos on him whenever he wastes his spells.
If you struggle to avoid his abilities, consider going Doran's Shield as your first item or buying early boots.
Vel'Koz's ult can be interrupted by hard CC. If your support has any, try suggesting to them to save it for when he ults if possible.


PLAYING WITH YUUMI
Look to focus on trades with Yuumi, let her poke with her Q and don't be afraid to trade with the enemy bot lane even when she is attached to you since she can restore your HP and give you movespeed easily at level 2.
Remember that while Yuumi is attached to your character, where you walk when she casts her Q matters. Avoid walking too far back and making it so she can't land her Q on enemy laners.
PLAYING AGAINST YUUMI
Avoid focusing Yuumi first in fights unless she is a free kill since she can instantly attach herself to one of her allies even at low HP and stay alive that way.
Treat her like any other shielding/healing supp; bully her and her AD when you can and look for opportunities to all-in them with the help of your team.


PLAYING WITH ZILEAN
Early in the game you likely won't have a lot of pressure unless Zilean lands a lot of bombs, so focus on farming and trading if Zilean gets good poke and stuns off.
Zilean will make Jhin extremely fast especially once Jhin gets a few items.
While Zilean's Chronoshift is pretty much a free Guardian Angel on a lower cooldown, remember that he won't always be able to use it in you so try not to rely on it too much or expect it in every situation.
PLAYING AGAINST ZILEAN
Avoid getting hit by his Time Bombs and especially avoid getting stunned by double bomb.
If the fight is close past level 6, try to save your abilities for when he uses ult Chronoshift so you can throw down traps on a person being revived, and use W Deadly Flourish on revive.
Zilean is very squishy at all points of the game, trying to catch him out and killing him or forcing him to use his Chronoshift on himself will be huge for your team.


PLAYING WITH ZYRA
Be careful about wave control since her plants can sometimes auto push the wave. You don't want your wave to get stuck/frozen up at the enemy tower, as Zyra and Jhin are both very vulnerable to ganks.
Poke trade with Zyra, and follow up on any roots with Deadly Flourish.
PLAYING AGAINST ZYRA
Don't just stand and auto to kill her plants and just let them hit you. This is a trade you do not win.
Especially once Zyra hits level 6, she has a lot of potential to insta burst Jhin even by herself. Be cautious about being hit by her root or cheesed from bushes.



After Laning Phase Back to Top
Past laning phase, Jhin will be looking to apply pressure to objectives, get picks with his W and ult, and win teamfights. The mid-game is a lot less linear than laning phase, so while you're going through the process of setting up objectives, teamfights, roams etc. it can be easy to forget certain things. These are general things that will help you on all ADCs. Make sure you keep this checklist in mind:

Don't stop farming! Keep your CS up.
However, be aware of your surroundings.
Remember that you are very easy to catch out at ALL points of the game. The biggest reason, in my experience, that Jhin gets caught out is from getting greedy with trying to get CS without vision.
Don't die pushing a wave up too far, or farming a lane alone with no wards and getting dove.
Remember also not to overuse your abilities and deplete your mana on farming, especially if a fight is likely to break out soon.

Be grouped to help take objectives.
Odds are, you are your team's main damage source for taking towers and neutral objectives.
This means two things: If you are dead, you will likely prevent your team from being able to contest those objectives, and you need to be prepared to be grouped for these events.
When you go to farm a lane, keep in mind what objectives are potential targets, where the rest of your team is, where vision is, if you know where the rest of the enemy team is, etc.
Remember to help your team set up vision, but don't get yourself killed by facechecking or dying for a ward kill.

Don't get yourself caught out or die for free.
The easiest way for Jhin or any ADC to die in the mid and late game is if they are caught alone without their team.
NEVER push up alone without vision unless you know where everyone on the enemy team is, or they are not a threat to you.
NEVER go into an unwarded jungle. It's not your support's fault that they didn't ward if you knowingly go into unwarded territory and get caught. Just don't go if there's no vision and you know there's a risk of dangerous enemies being there.
Jhin does not excel at getting solo kills unless he is very far ahead. Remember to play around your team and not be greedy.

Watch for flanks and be wary of areas without vision.
Be wary of flanks from enemy assassins! Be cautious. The less you die the better.
This doesn't mean you should never join fights or never put yourself in a risky situation, but try to be aware of WHO on the enemy team is a threat, and HOW they can kill you, and what you need to do to prevent that.
You want to be near your support and the rest of your team as much as possible, so they can peel you and/or help you kill someone who is trying to goon you.
Jhin can use his traps for vision and to help prevent flanks from the enemy team, so try to think of points where an enemy flanker might try to get behind you and place a trap there.

To summarize all of that, farm ▹ be aware of ways you can get caught/die ▹ be grouped and ready for objectives.





If you lost your lane, you will be looking to avoid dying from now on, set up vision around the map, farm and scale to buy your items, and look for picks/decent fights around the map. It can be extremely difficult for Jhin to catch up when he lost his lane AND his entire team is behind, so you will want to focus on catching up in lost farm and experience. Your next goal will be to capitalize on any mistakes or throws the enemy team makes. You need to avoid giving free additional kills. Often the game isn't completely over even if every lane lost, but if you keep giving free kills then it will be. Ward your jungle, farm without overextending, and look for picks.
If you won your lane, and you are the most fed on your team or at the very least much stronger than the enemy bot lane, you must look for ways to spread your lead across the map without wasting time. You need to push your advantages. Look to trade with top and contest rift herald or go mid to try to push the tower and contest dragon. The biggest key for carrying as ADC is not dying. This is because if you die, the major issue isn't that you gave over a kill, it's that you will be unavailable to help your team clear waves, push, take towers, take epic monsters, be DPS in teamfights, etc. This is especially bad if the rest of your team is weak and behind, since they can't do anything without you. Look for ways to extend your lead through picks and objective control, but stay alive. Don't flame your teammates if you genuinely care about trying to carry and win. It'll just make the situation worse.




If you lost your lane, and as a result you have fallen behind the enemy bot lane, your main goal should be to try to scale up and buy items as quickly as possible. If you can, rotate to match them if they go top or mid to try to contest a tower. Play around the rest of your team, and look for opportunities to catch up in kills and gold. Don't try to do anything solo.
If you won your lane, try to outrotate the enemy bot lane. Don't overstay in any lanes, back and spend your gold when you have a lot and get to the next objective. Preserve your lead. Overstaying is one of the main causes for throws. In most scenarios, you will be looking to group mid to look for picks, or fighting around dragon/herald. Buy pink wards and try to work with your team to get vision control to catch the enemy team out or prevent them from being able to contest objectives.




If you lost your lane, as weird as it sounds, you need to know how to get carried. What this means is playing around your fed/strong teammates and letting them control and dominate fights, and not getting in their way or making their life more difficult. Do not give the enemy team kills or get yourself caught/start fights without them. Just because your team may have more objectives/kills doesn't mean that you are also strong if you are behind the enemy ADC. Focus on playing around your strong teammates and support them appropriately by helping them with damage and using your root/ultimate to catch people out. If you do this correctly, their lead will spread to you as well in the form of kills/assists and you will eventually scale and be in a healthier position. Just make your goal not to make their life difficult.
If you won your lane, all you have to worry about is not throwing or letting the game go on too long if their team has heavy scalers and your team doesn't. Don't overstay, don't take bad fights, don't get yourself caught and killed by doing something stupid because you don't think you have to try anymore since your team is super ahead. You are an ADC, just because you and the rest of your team are fed doesn't mean you can take every fight, or even 1v1 everyone on their team. Work with your team to set up tower seiges, teamfights, dragon/baron control etc. and focus on getting closer to their nexus rather than getting distracted by wanting more kills.





When teamfighting as an ADC, you need to follow 3 rules: Positioning, DPS and target focus. What steps do I need to take to avoid dying? How do I do the most possible damage? Who is the most important target?


POSITIONING: WHAT STEPS DO I NEED TO TAKE TO AVOID DYING?
- To state the blatantly obvious, you can't do damage if you're dead. If you die at the beginning of a teamfight, unless you are lucky and your solo lanes/jungler make up for your errors or the enemy team completely inted to kill you, the odds are that your team will lose the fight.
- Unrelated to positioning, before the fight even starts, examine your build and the threats on their team. Do you have QSS if there is a big risk you will get hit by CC? Do you need to ask your team to wait while you farm to finish your GA?
- Again before the fight starts, don't allow yourself to get poked out for free. Just stand back if poke is a threat. It is better to be running around in the back with nothing to do for a while than get forced to back by poke or even killed by it.
- Who are the biggest threats to you on their team, and how do you avoid them? Do you need to stay far back and wait for your team to engage on them and follow up from a distance? Do you need to stand with your support so they can peel you?
- Do not stand anywhere that allows the enemy team to get to you before your own team can. Generally this just means don't be alone, but you also never want to be in the front of a teamfight.
- It is not your job to engage or try to 1v1 their assassins or fighters. It is your job to not die and do as much damage as possible in the process.


DPS: HOW DO I DO THE MOST POSSIBLE DAMAGE?
- In most cases, I would not open a fight with ult on Jhin unless you see an easy and obvious pick. This is because the odds are you will not be able to do much damage with your ult if they are full HP so you will only be getting four slows, and then once your ult is over you will probably be at too far of a distance to instantly rejoin the fight.
- If possible, you want to avoid using full clips on targets that have a lot of HP and armor.
- Even when you are running away/kiting back, if possible you want to be kiting and throwing in autos while you run. Even if you end up getting caught and killed, the additional auto attacks can be the difference between your team winning or losing once you are dead. Additionally, if you crit the movespeed may save you or allow you to kill them before they kill you. Kiting and knowing how to orb walk/attack move are crucial skills for an ADC player to have.


TARGET FOCUS: WHO IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TARGET?
- Following the prior two rules, you likely already know that the chances are you will not be able to hit their backline and stay safe from dying at the same time. That's where knowing that it's okay to hit their front line comes in.
- A lot of the time you will simply be whittling down their front line and attacking whoever is closest to you. However, in cases where their front line is not a threat, for example they have a Malphite that has already used his ult and abilities, and it's possible to hit squishier targets on their team, you can choose to ignore him and focus the others instead.
- In general, you will want to focus the same target until they are dead, but there are times where changing your focus as quickly as possible is the most effective. If the enemy adc happens to get within auto range of you, or another dangerous champion, you can quickly switch your focus to them to try to kill them as fast as possible and punish them.
- The conditions for target priority are: Who is safe for me to hitWho is the biggest threat to my teamWho is the easiest/fastest to kill. Do not attack based on second or third priority UNLESS the prior conditions are also met.
