Threats & Synergies
I ban him 100% of my games. A good Taliyah CAN lane vs him, your E shreds him but its just too difficult to stop him in team fights or prevent him from getting fed off of your teammates.
A good Taliyah can lane against him, but it is an uphill battle. Poke when you can but play it safe. It is possible to kill him in lane if you poke him down to about 60% and than land a full combo.
Outside of Yasuo this is probably the worst lane. Landing a W on her is near impossible focus on shoving and maintaining lane priority for jungle skirmishes.
Terrible match up. Unless you have a solid jungler I would avoid fighting him, early on you won't have the mana to shove the wave more than he can so farm where you can under turret and ping your side lanes when he roams and shove the wave under his turret. After you build Lost Chapter shove and roam. Against all high level threats the best way to get ahead is to let them shove, ping when they roam, if they don't get a kill on the roam they lose 2-3 waves and tons of XP.
You can solo kill him all day before level 6. What makes him a threat is his one item power spike. Taliyah cannot do much to prevent Ekko from getting fed off of a level 6-7 bot roam on Ekko. The key to this match up is be extremely proactive and aggressive, once hes down keep him down.
Rush banshees as your second item and he won't be able to kill you. The key to this match up is to predict the landing of his E onto your W. Cast out your own E when he Q's and he will pop your E bonus damage because its a dash.
Rush mercury treads in this match up. If Taliyah is your main feel free to go glass cannon. Casting out your E when she W's in procs the full damage from it. Cast q at the same time and auto attack all as shes coming in, she will take heavy damage and blink back immediately. Cast your W on to where hers was to pull her back in and potentially finish her off.
In a lane where the Sylas and Taliyah have equal skill on their respective champions, the Sylas will come out on top. It is possible to stomp him with some jungle help or if you poke him well during lane you can 100-0 with a full combo. Kiting is key on this match up.
Cancer cancer cancer. You will either win this lane hard or lose it hard, you are definitely at a disadvantage but the outplay is possible with enough help.
This is a tricky match up. You can stomp her pre 6, but her R is a double edged sword because while it will allow her to dodge your W, it will also proc your E damage because it is a dash. Try to hold on your W while she has ult and focus on casting your E with her in the center of it and landing your Q whilst dodging her abilities. If you dodge her E-Q but land your own E-Q she will ult away and you can chase her down with your ult remember that.
As long as you play it smart you will win this match up. There is not much she can do, her dashes proc your E and they are linear so she will dash directly into your Q as well. if she does in her shroud throw down your E. Any time you land your W on her you can kill her.
Be smart about your mana in this lane, you will need to balance farming and harrass. Dodge her Q and she can't do anything to you. Land your combo when you can but you will usually need jungle help to finish her off.
The only thing she can ever do to you is flash stun you with her jungler near by. Outside of that you stomp her completely. I would advise you to rush merc treads into lost chapter and than finish a banshees veil. (Hextech GLP is a good item against her)
This could go either way both are great roamers, decision making is the key to this one. Whoever helps their side lanes more will win. If you see an Aurelion Sol in ranked hes probably a one trick and that can be a scary thing. Don't underestimate this guy.
If you land your W-E-Q combo on him he can't do anything, avoid his harass and you will win lane.
Rush Hextech GLP-800. He is immobile and you will be able to 100-0 him at will.
Rush Hextech GLP-800. She is immobile and you will be able to 100-0 at will. Try to dodge her R as she will cast it once you walk in after using Hextech GLP slow.
Pre 6 you can stomp her. With jungle help you can stomp her hard enough that shes useless the rest of the game. She does hit quite the power spike at level 6 though just cast your E-Q as she dashes in and W her once she uses her second ult.
I hate this champ so much. Taliyah cannot do anything besides dodging her charm. If eve is fed she'll kill you before you can react. Should that happen just stay with your team don't go off alone.
Very easy lane. There is not much he can do against you, any time you land your W hes dead pretty much.
Be smart about trading with him, if he just Q's you behind minions he will win every trade. Try to land your W-E onto him and than chase him down with Q's and autos. After 6 not much you can do.
You can stomp her fairly easily. She dashes around alot which is good for your E, same thing as diana, Just hold onto your W until she dashes onto you than push her away and chase her down. Make sure she has to fight you in your own minion wave don't walk up to her.
Very easy lane. A lot of pros pick Taliyah as a counter to Lissandra. Theres just not much she can do to you without her jungler.
I hate this girl. Her shield allows her to win trades with you and she can harass from her own minion wave. Shes definitely one of the trickier champions to trade with but as long as you land your W (I'll keep repeating this :D) you should be fine. Ask your jungler for a gank on this one.
Theres nothing this guy can do to you at any stage of the game without his jungler there to help.
I've personally never had any trouble with Syndra. Its a very basic match up it wouldn't hurt to rush mercs here. If you land your combo you win if she lands hers she wins simple as that. If you go banshees as well than its GG.
His side ganks are better than yours, His are faster and has a point and click stun. In lane however you have the advantage. Theres not much he can do without his jungler.
You can stomp him easily pre 6. After that just be smart about dodging within his cage and not getting stunned because he can and will kill you with his ult.
You can stomp him but this is a very annoying lane because his abilities are longer ranged than yours so its hard to close the gap on him. Not much he can do though even if he ults just W him to cancel it.
Trading with him is tricky like Orianna. They can hit you from the safety of their own minion wave and have shields to negate your damage. I would focus more on just farming and roaming in this one.
Vlad just isn't a threat to Taliyah. He can pool your W but you have more consistent damage with your Q. If I rush sorcs in this match up I can pretty much kill him at will. Sorcs into Lost Chapter into Morrello and its GG.
Rush Hextech GLP-800 and you can kill him at will. Just side step his stun as you close the gap and you'll be fine.
He can poke you from the safety of his wave but he can't really kill you but if you land your W onto him you can kill him. A lot of the times though you land your W-E-Q combo and than he just W's away with low health. Thats fine just shove the wave base and reset.
This applies to all champions with a point and click stun. The name of the game on Taliyah is land your W and win the fight. Having a teammate with a point and click stun makes this impossible to miss and is very helpful in snowballing a game.
If Amumu lands any of his CC you will be able to W-E-Q without fail and get the kill guaranteed.
If Alistar knocks someone up you can land your W-E-Q without fail.
Save your W for when blitz knocks someone up and its a free kill. He won't even need to use his hook.
My fav champion to see when I pick Taliyah. She has 3 abilities that lock them down in place. Plenty of time for you to use your combo without the chance of missing.
Champion Build Guide
Note: Account was Diamond when guide was made. I've since quit league and it will decay indefinitely, will keep the guide updated patch by patch though.
Don't expect to sit in lane and get ganks from your jungler. He/She will most likely just focus top and bot instead.
You will almost always have lane priority as Taliyah as her passive will allow you to go into the jungle faster so look to be the first person to arrive at any fight and you will snowball the game. This tip is VERY important to climbing with Taliyah.
Using your Ult. It can be good to gank side lanes but even in normal teamfights you can walk off to the side and ult behind a squishy or two preferably without a dash, this will either force the flash or result in their immediate death as their team cannot protect them. Make sure theres no lane exits they can run to, do this against another wall.
*Always make sure you have 1 vision ward on the map and 1 in inventory*
Your first purchase depends on many things, e.g how much gold you have, who you are laning against, and your strategy. For example with 850 gold I could purchase Boots Dark Seal Health Potion and Vision Ward. Or if I'm confident I can solo kill the enemy laner (e.g no flash) I will go Blasting Wand instead.
At any time if you have 1100 gold on your first base rush Sorcs. If you have 1300 rush Lost Chapter.
If you have low kill potential and require heavy spell use to keep up in farm just rush dark seal and sapphire crystal.
Defending against ganks. A jungler will almost always attack you up until you reach your turret, try to lure them there than W-E them into turret range. Follow this with a Q-auto-ignite and with 1 turret shot that should be enough to get a kill and tilt them.
Taliyah is very good at catching out squishies. If you went the Hextech route you can use it to slow people at max range than walk in for an easy W-E-Q 100-0. Try to go for this as often as possible as it will always result in a kill or a flash burned and its only a 40 second cd.
Another thing you could do is ward on one side of almost any wall, and stand on the otherside. Wait for someone to walk by and W-E-Q them over the wall and they will either die or be at around 10% health and have to base in which cases you now have the 4v5 advantage to go for an objective. The better you get at doing this the higher your win rate will be.
Good times to do this is if your team is doing drake or baron, use this to get an instant 4v5 advantage and zone them out, than back up and ult to give your team enough time to finish the objective and zone the enemy out with more Q's.
A great way to get an easy kill is to put a pink ward in the enemy jungle before an objective is about to spawn, stand in it and wait for someone to come up and ward. Cast your W-E-Q + Hextech from the bush, it will be sure to kill them than run off to your team. This works so well against any comp and is key to winning with Taliyah.
There are many places to do this, I will upload a photo of all the spots on the map this will work best at in every game.
In late game team fights try to stay in the middle of your team or even more towards the back of your team, Taliyah does not need to be close to do damage and if you are winning the fight and they are running with low health just ult to them and finish them off as shown below.
