About Me

I am a One Trick Pony Renekton player on the NA server who has climbed as high as Challenger 520 LP. I also have the 3rd most games with Renekton in the world with a whopping 4 million mastery points.

I have played Renekton with, and against, a vast majority of the high elo top laners in North America - at one point or another, so I believe myself to be a master at this champion.

I play a very aggressive play style by building almost entirely damage, which allows me to make some ridiculous plays, ...as well as many other fails.

Why Renekton?

Renekton - Butcher of the Sands
Melee, Durable, Aggressive, Top Laner

Lane position: Top
Jungler ganking potential: Ideal
Speciality: Versatility

Why Blood and Vengeance?
Renekton is fun because he is easy to learn the basics and be successful whilst also having a very high skill cap that takes a ton of practice to be able to master. Renekton has high versatility in his build paths, good mobility and very high outplay potential.

Renekton is different to other champions, in that he uses rage instead of mana.
Effective rage management is essential to doing the immense damage that I, myself have showcased.
He can provide single target, non-dodgable CC, as well as mobility, healing and strong AOE.
Most champions have a very hard counter that completely shuts them down. Renekton is quite unique in that he can be blind picked into any lane, and still be effective. Of course there are still hard lanes, but none that are impossible.
What else is built into Renekton's kit, is that he is able to push lanes hard and still have 2 dashes to make clutch escapes from ganks. By keeping the lane pushed, he is able to use the enemy minions to dash off of.
AS OF 9.14 Renekton's Ruthless Predator now destroys existing shields on targets when empowered with 50 Fury before its existing effects - making him an even stronger laning threat vs champions such as Riven.

Proper Rage Management and nowing how to combo correctly are what separate the bad, and good Renektons. Proper wave management and macro play will get you to elite status.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Strong early game
Even stronger mid game
Single target, unavoidable hard CC
Mobility
Healing
Split pushing

You left me alone in the darkness, brother..

Cons

Ranged Laners are difficult
Falls off late
Exhaust is his weakness
Flash reliant in teamfights
First 2 levels are exploitable
AD "Caster", bad auto trades
Summoners, Rage and Combos
SUMMONER SPELLS

Flash is your engage summoner, your escape summoner, and all in between summoner. Take this every time.

I have been running Flash and Ghost together to help stick to my target, very good combination

Teleport is your primary summoner in place of Ghost, for split pushing and dominating lane early game.

RAGE MANAGEMENT

Keep your rage high for fights, and do not use it sparingly!

I tend to ult early when I see a fight about to break out so that I can build up my rage.

Heals you for up to (a hard cap) of 600HP - if used around many enemies - as well as increasing damage in an AOE.
Increases duration of stun from 0.75 seconds to 1.5 seconds, and also does up to 45 damage (+0.75 per AD) to the target. AS OF 9.14 Destroys existing shields on targets when empowered with 50 Fury before its existing effects.
Reduces the armor of the target, of the second dash. You rarely want to spend your rage empowered ability on Slice and Dice, and instead focus on the other 2 abilities.

BASIC COMBOS

You can animation cancel your W with your R

PRECISION AND RESOLVE

PRIMARY CHOICES

Press the Attack is Renekton's strongest keystone and should be taken at all times. We can proc it extremely easy with our combos and it adds a lot of extra damage to our burst.

Triumph helps you manage 1v2's easier, if you get one kill, you restore 12% of your missing health - turning the fight in your favor. You also receive an additional 20 gold, which is always beneficial.

You gain 3% attack speed plus an additional 1.5% for every Legend stack (max 10 stacks). I build very aggressive, and more attack speed is invaluable for this build, it has good synergy with Reign of Anger.
Legend: Tenacity is also useful if the enemy team has a lot of CC, you're in the middle of fights and you're bound to get CC'd.

This rune helps to increase your burst damage, you're always in the middle of the fray, taking targeted and AoE damage from all sources. If you know you can wait until you get to 30% HP - without dying - this will increase the potency of your entire combo.

When you're going aggressive, you want to be taking Bone Plating, it helps negate a lot of incoming damage and especially during trades. We have enough sustain in our kit that we no longer need to take Second Wind.

Overgrowth is one of the best runes to take on Renekton, the more monsters or enemy minions that die near you, you permanently gain additional HP - this is great survivability for mid to late game teamfights. A lot of people take Demolish but I find it doesn't add much as if you're behind it's pretty useful and if you're ahead you're already ahead.

OTHER OPTIONS

Magical Footwear is great when you're dominating lane and can get free early boots, saving us 300g that can be put towards our core items, and it gives us a bonus 10 extra MS, great for sticking to targets.

Not as great as it was because it's lost CDR now, but still useful for the summoner spell haste to reduce cooldowns.

Gameplay and Matchups

EARLY GAME

Your main goal is to survive until level 3, this is when you hit your early power spike.
You can tell your jungler not to come top lane until they have taken the first dragon spawn.
Dominate your lane, you can tower dive, and/or force the enemy laners recall, keep the lane pushed for pressure.
Watch the videos below for very in-depth explanations on how to play during the early game.

MID GAME

This is your biggest power spike, and you need to push your advantage. Forcing dragons, split pushing and picking off enemies are all options. Ensure that all waves are set up correctly to maximize your CS, and deny CS to other team. Assassinate carries, or zone for your carries during team fights.
Watch the video below for a very in-depth explanation on how to play the mid game.

LATE GAME

You can be outscaled at this point, so you don't like getting to late game. Split pushing, and picking off enemies is your best bet. During team fights, assassinate enemy carries or zone for your carries again.

If you are fed and your team is behind, then you are going to be able to play more aggressively, and take more risks.

If your team is fed, you will play less aggressive and take less risks.

If the enemies are fed, then you are going to be trying to assassinate the most fed, if possible. If there is a Janna or Lulu, I usually prioritize them, because they will cause the most trouble, as of 9.14 Ruthless Predator now destroys their shields when empowered with 50 fury, making them easier to deal with. Renekton is the most powerful as a split pusher to keep rage built up, and for the 1v2 potential. I usually take bot lane during split pushing to ensure that we don't lose control over Baron Nashor 's pit.

MATCH UPS

VoD Reviews
VOD Reviews

Below is a series that breaks down different games in high elo (Diamond 1 and higher) that goes into detail on my decision making process and how to carry or come back from behind.

Even if you are not a Renekton player, this information is extremely valuable and many people have told me that they have shot up many tiers or divisions just by watching these and implementing the concepts into their own games. I really hope that this helps you guys and look forward to feedback.
