Champion Build Guide
Hi, there! I'm Khiva, and I've been a Soraka support main since Season 4. I have continuously played her over the past few years, and have reached over 1 million mastery points with her as well. In this guide, I'll give you some general rules, along with some tips and tricks that I've learned over the years of my playing Soraka.

Q at Level 1: You're ALWAYS going to want to start Starcall as your first ability. It allows you have really good pressure early in lane, so you're not being steamrolled back into your turret. | W at Level 2: Going for Astral Infusion at level 2 lets you give an ally the Rejuvenation buff from your Starcall. |
E at Level 3: Equinox silences, damages, and can root enemies that remain in the circle. | R at Level 6, 11, 16: Wish is your global ultimate. The more you level it up, the stronger the heal becomes. |
Summon Aery | ★ We're choosing Summon Aery as our main keystone because it lets you both harass enemies with the extra damage and protect allies using the shield. |
Nullifying Orb | ★ Nullifying Orb is the next rune we take because it offers a good amount of protection against a lot of magic damage, and the only other option is Manaflow Band, which does not give enough mana to make it worth it in the long run. |
Celerity | ★ Celerity is a fantastic rune for Soraka, as it works with her passive to get to injured allies faster. |
Scorch | ★ We use Scorch because of the early game harassment potential. Any extra damage you can do in the early game is fantastic, and could be the difference between you winning or losing lane. |
Future's Market | ★ We take Future's Market because the quicker you can get your items in early game, the better. |
Cosmic Insight | ★ Cosmic Insight does wonders. We take it for the +5% cooldown reduction on items and on summoner spells, specifically. This moves your Flash from a 300 second cooldown to a 285 second cooldown, for example. That could be the difference between life or death as a squishy Soraka. |
What Summoner Spells Do I Use?
Flash is the first summoner spell that you should always be using. It can really help to get you out of a tough spot, especially as a squishy healer.
Then, you'll typically want to use Cleanse, because you can get rid of most crowd control effects on yourself, as well as the effects of summoner spells: Ignite, Exhaust, and Smite. It also puts a short buff on you that reduces the duration of incoming disables by 65%.
Barrier is also a good option because the shield that it gives can save you against the damage over time effect from an Ignite, or maybe a high damage burst spell.
Reducing The Cooldown of Summoner Spells
By reducing the cooldown of your summoner spells, you have them up sooner than your enemies do and can make more plays around them, or save yourself more often.
- Flash: 300 Seconds -> 285 Seconds
- Cleanse: 210 Seconds -> 199.5 Seconds
- Barrier: 180 Seconds -> 171 Seconds
- Flash: 300 Seconds -> 270 Seconds
- Cleanse: 210 Seconds -> 189 Seconds
- Barrier: 180 Seconds -> 162 Seconds
Starting Items
We take Spellthief's Edge over Relic Shield because Soraka does not scale well with bonus health. Astral Infusion costs 10% of Soraka's maximum health, so the more health you have, the more you get chunked when you heal. This is a bad thing because it will take longer for your Rejuvenation from Starcall to heal you up if you have too much health.*Change out your Stealth Ward to an Oracle Lens once your Spellthief's Edge turns into Frostfang. This is to help deny vision to the enemy team.
Early Game
You're going to want to get your Ionian Boots of Lucidity as fast as possible. The +10% summoner spell cooldown reduction, as well as the +10% base cooldown reduction is huge in early game. The more you can spam your Starcall, the more you can establish your dominance in lane.After Ionian Boots of Lucidity, you get Ardent Censer because the buff it gives to your allies is incredibly strong, and can turn the tide of the entire teamfight.
Core Items
The idea behind this build is you heal more than the enemy team can DPS. All of these items give a bonus to heal and shield power. Ardent Censer gives +10% Heal & Shield Power, Redemption gives +10% Heal & Shield Power, Mikael's Blessing gives +20% Heal & Shield Power, and Shurelya's Battlesong gives +10% Heal & Shield Power. This turns into 50% Heal & Shield power for you because the bonuses stack.Consumables
If you're already full build and the game STILL won't end, pick up an Elixir of Sorcery for the additional ability power, and the true damage to enemy champions and turrets.- Starcall gives sight when you use it in an area. You can use it to reveal bushes/dragon pit/baron pit, etc. instead of face-checking.
- Wish heals an extra 50% more when it's used against targets below 40% health. You can tell if a champion is low enough to use that bonus because an icon will appear above their head, and your passive movement speed will go off.
- When it comes to positioning, stay at the backline. Don't try to be a tank.
- Your allies don't need to be at 100% health all of the time. If you're below 50% health and your ADC is at 80% and not in danger, just take some time to use the Rejuvenation from your Starcall to heal up instead of healing them up to 100%.
- Spirit Visage increases healing received from all sources. Suggest the item to your tank if you're having trouble keeping them healed up.
- Use your Equinox and your Starcall as zoning tools.
- Wish is global. You can use it early to help turn a fight in midlane or toplane and help your allies begin to snowball. Especially if you have Ardent Censer.
