Threats & Synergies
Ahri rn is in a really great spot and she's a pretty big threat to Karma. Take barrier or exhaust so you don't get blown up.
After the nerfs she's even more worthless than before so you can just destroy her. Take ignite/teleport.
Anivia's early game is extremely weak and Karma can just get all up in her bussiness and poke her down, without giving a chance to fight back. Take ignite or teleport.
Annie's range is too short to ever get close to Karma. On top of that she has weak waveclear so it's easy to push her in and not let her roam. Take barrier or cleanse to counter flash ult. Banshee's recommended.
If he tries to fight you just Q him and walk away. Any summoners are fine.
Annoying long range poke. Get Corrupting Pot. You're probably not going to kill him in laning phase so just focus on farming, unless you have a jungler like Vi or Jarvan. Take teleport.
He can cause some trouble because of his long range poke. Get an extra point in your shield early and get Corrupting Pot. Take teleport or barrier.
Even early on Cassiopeia is a lot stronger in a 1v1 than Karma. Avoid fighting and if she walks up to you Q her and run away with E. Take cleanse or teleport.
He has pretty short range but is actually really safe to pay. You're not going to land any damage on him and if he buys hexdrinker just focus on farming cus you have no chance. Take teleport or exhaust.
Very hard matchup. Her shield blocks a lot of your poke early on so you won't push her out of lane that easily. Try to shove the wave and poke her under tower. After 6 stay away and ask for ganks. Ward botside, don't let her roam. Take barrier or teleport. Go ROA+Seraphs.
Skill matchup. Neither of you have any kill potential in this lane, really. Focus on farming and always follow him if he roams. Any summoners work.
Shove wave and poke him under tower. Even though he has lots of mobility, he can be easily ganked because his E doesn't break Karma's W. Take barrier/ignite/teleport
You'll probably lose against him early. He does a lot of damage and doesn't take any back. He can't do anything late game though. Take teleport/ignite
Take 1 extra point in E early so he can't poke you with Sheen. Other than that easy lane. Take teleport/ignite
I don't understand this guy he doesn't take any damage and destroys you in miliseconds just avoid picking Karma please. Take teleport/barrier
His turrets will put you in a lot of trouble. No real way to counterplay him other than staying under tower and farm with Q. Take teleport
Awkward lane. Try to poke her down and if she all in's you use RW and run around with your E. Any summoners work
Easy to poke. He'll have a hard time poking back. If he all in's you RW and E away. Take barrier or ignite
Very unprobable but if it happens get Corrupting Pot and focus on farming. Take barrier or teleport.
Karthus has been a top tier pick for a long while now and he's definietly way stronger than Karma could ever be. Avoid playing Karma in this situation. Take barrier/teleport if it happens. Get Corrupting pot.
Get Corrupting pot. Shove the wave so he has a hard time farming. After 6 stay back. Take teleport/barrier/ignite. ROA+Seraphs build.
She can destroy you at any point of the game, really. You need someone with hard cc to shut her down. Late game you can nullify a lot of her damage with your RE. Take teleport/barrier/ignite. Go ROA-Seraphs build.
Bully her in lane and push the wave in, don't let her farm. Take teleport.
He has no real waveclear and his poke is really unreliable. Very easy matchup. Take barrier/teleport/ignite
Very difficult matchup. You need amazing reflexes to get ahead. Pay attention to her. When you see her cast Q immediately shield, walk back and Q in her direction. Get early MR. Take teleport/barrier. Build ROA-Seraphs and merc treads.
She has low range but can easily kill you in a gank. Pay attention to vision because she's really good at roaming. You're probably not going to outpush her so atleast make sure your team is safe. Take teleport/cleanse and corrupting pot.
Buy corrupting pot. Take an extra point in E early. Her poke is easily avoidable but she might be hard to poke herself because of her W and long range. Shove her into the tower. Take barrier/cleanse
Malzahar isn't that big of a threat himself, but he can easily kill you in a gank, he's also a very good roamer. Early on you can outpush him so try to shove him in because he struggles to farm under tower. Take teleport
This is the most boring lane ever. Farming. Just farming. For 20 minutes. Take corrupting pot and teleport because you're not going to do anything besides farming.
Orianna's early dmg is pretty crappy but if you let her continuously poke you the damage will accumulate. Take corrupting pot just in case and look to bait her shield and then trade her. Take teleport/barrier
You can leave the game now. (take teleport)
She can't do anything to you early on so just shove her under tower and poke her there. Ping as soon as she leaves lane. Take teleport or barrier
Ryze is one of the most underappreciated mid laners in my opinion. Already at lvl 2 he can easily 1v1 any mid laner there is. He also gets really strong waveclear on top of that. His main strength lies in the fact he doesn't need ability power to deal damage. I usually ban him.
Wait for her to waste her E and then engage with E and throw an RQ at her. Take cleanse or barrier. Get a corrupting pot
Dodge his E and the lane wins itself. Take ignite.
Karma might have a hard time fighting Taliyah because she has no mobility to dodge her W+E burst. Karma has a range advantage over Taliyah though, so try poking her when she approaches. Take teleport/barrier/ignite
Talon can't really all in Karma since she can RW and E away and poke him from afar but his most threatening asset is roaming potential. Always keep an eye on him and follow him if you see him leave. Take teleport/barrier/igntie. Go RoA+Seraphs.
You won't get to poke him all that much so focus on farming. Spam pings whenever he leaves vision. Take teleport to countergank.
Unless your team lacks an enchanter I wouldn't suggest picking Karma. He outdamages her heavily and scales really well into late game and Karma can't do all that much to stop him. Get Roa+Seraphs and merc treads + Athenes/Banshees for mr.
Vel'koz's poke isn't all that threatening. It's all fairly easy to dodge. Unless he takes glacial augment. Then he's going for hextech-glp and twin shadows. In that case you don't stand a chance. He'll permaslow you and land his full combo on you, which is always a guaranteed death. Take teleport/barrier/heal and get a corrupting pot
You'll have a hard time poking him because he can stay far away from the wave and farm safely. On top of that, his Q wins him all trades. Try shoving him in 24/7 so he has to waste mana farming under tower. Take teleport/barrier
One of the easiest matchups. Vladimir has no waveclear so just push him into the tower and poke him there. He has no range on top of it all. Your W isn't interrupted by his W so he can't even escape ganks. Take ignite/teleport
Xerath's poke is threatening at first but as you get some movespeed from items he'll become easy to deal with. Get a corrupting pot. Shove him under the tower so he has to spend mana farming. Take teleport/barrier
Karma has the upper hand on Yas cuz she can W him while running away with E. He can block all of your dmg with his W though. Take exhaust.
Rush Rod of Ages with a seekers armguard. Please just don't feed him. Farm from afar and ward the river. Take teleport/barrier/exhaust
Boring. Neither sides have kill potential, but you can poke him really easily. He also can't farm under tower at all, so shove him asap. Take teleport.
You probably won't poke him all that much but he won't do anything to you either. Farm and dodge his Q's. Don't let him get to your tower. Take teleport or barrier.
Zoe actually isn't as bad as she seems. If you get a skilled one she can give you a hard time. Any summs work but preffered is teleport.
This is 100% a skill matchup. A good Neeko will absolutely destroy you, but a bad one is a free win. I suggest taking barrier for her huge ult burst.
He's not in a very good spot right now but his ult is pretty dangerous even for Karma. Late game he can use it to RE his team and shield them or himself for 1k hp. Take ignite/teleport/barrier.
I put Ashe in here but this goes for any adc. They'll love that 1k dmg shield lategame against those stupid assassins.
This goes for any tank. She can keep them alive for a little bit longer but... why
This goes for any mage. You are the mage. The best one. The only one your team will ever need.
Karma has really good synergy with fighters, cause she can make them even more immortal and help them deal dmg, while also doing some of her own.
This goes for any assassin. Nothing crazy but her poke can help an assassin engage.
This is for any damage dealing support. Not much to say, together with AP Karma they put out a crap ton of dmg.
This is for any enchanter. This is only good if you have a hypercarry that you know is good at the game (premade)

A guide to Karma Mid [9.3]By Wintry
This guide will be focused around Karma in the mid lane. I don't want to talk about Karma support because I never play it.
-Easy to pick up
-Safe laning phase
-Useful when behind
-Can enable engages
-No reliable CC
-Reliant on teammates
-No real powerspike
Preffered first item on mid Karma. It offers lots of CDR and mana which is very valuable early on in the game. Also really helps with waveclear.
One of the favourite choices for a second item. I wouldn't bother upgrading it past oblivion orb early on though, unless the enemy team has lots of sustain.
One of the best items in the game. Getting it this early on might not seem that great, but it increases Karma's damage output by a ton, also improves her shields by lots.
Cheap item that increases damage output by a lot. Get this right after Rabadon.
Very standard defensive item. It can be purchased earlier in between other items if needed.
Can be bought instead of Zhonya's if needed against hard CC
Very valuable item on Karma as it gives her a lot of utility, damage and movement speed.
Definietly get it when your team is lacking an enchanter.
Athene's Unholy Grail
Optional item if you're going for Ardent Censer. Not that important but it's a nice finishing touch.
Rod of Ages
A bit risky item because it doesn't give any cooldown reduction which is pretty important but it scales really well into mid game and helps Karma a lot. Very solid item.
Combined with Rod of Ages it does wonders late game. A build consisting of RoA + Seraphs is incredibly strong and safe.
I only suggest buying it if you don't have anyone else to deal with the tanks.
Fun item to try in normal games. Combine this with Celerity.
Not the best option but if you're not doing too well and your team lacks hard engage get this and prove your worth.
Again, don't buy this in ranked, but give it a try in normals. Lich Bane is one of my favourite items and it's highly unappreciated.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Buying this is pretty much pointless. Only 2 of Karma's spells do damage and one of them is a slow already. Getting it just for the W isn't the smartest choice.
There is only one (1) champion in the game that can utilize this item well (Vel'koz). Don't buy it. Please.
Against poke heavy / tear mages you want to shove waves under the tower as fast as possible, so the enemy can't farm very well. Ward top river and stick to the left side of the lane. Try poking with Q while clearing waves. If you see an enemy jungler approaching run away immediately, you're not made for 1v2's. If your jungler is approaching, run at your enemy with E and W them while slowing with an RQ.
Against assassins you don't want to get too close to their all in range. Try to avoid any poke they might throw your way because they're just setting up an all in to burst you down.
Waveclear from afar and freeze the wave near your tower so you can safely farm with AA's.
Ask for early ganks and always spam ping when they leave vision. Follow them if you know where they're going.
In all of the sccenarios always play safe and don't give any kills to the enemy.
Always keep a control ward alive.
You should have most of your build completed, so hitting a carry with RQ will effectively take away more than half of their HP, and your RE shield will block over 1000 damage.
Try to poke your enemies before you fight them.
When you get engaged on or your carry gets engaged on don't hesitate and instathrow an RE. Using your other damaging spells will greatly reduce your R's cooldown anyway so you'll be able to put out tons of damage too.
If your team has no hard engage then it's on you to start teamfights. If you have a tank with CC use your RE to let them engage on their backline. If you don't have a tank and your team is filled with assassins for some reason stay back and spam RQ.
Try to avoid all CC and don't get too close to the enemy front line. Stand back and hit them with Q's.
Using RE on your front line is fine, too.
Also try playing around your jungler. Ask them for their clearing path so you can gank a lane together for an easy 3v1 or 4v2.
Always inform your team you're going to roam ahead of time. Don't forget the enemy laner exists, too.
These are the best ward spots for both teams. All of the dots in bushes are also the best control ward placements.
