Into to the Build

First of all, this is my first guide so please at least control your tempers when you comment or criticize my work. Second of all, GRAVES IS AN AMAZING CHAMPION! And you'll definitely know why after reading and understanding this guide and practicing what you've learned. Last but the most important! I'm not a pro. Just some guy who loves RTS games and kick-*** gunners like Graves.

Passive True Grit

Graves gains 1 / 2 / 3 bonus armor and magic resistance every second he remains in combat. This bonus stacks up to 10 times. Graves is considered in combat if he has dealt or received damage in the last 3 seconds.

This is what makes Graves so powerful but hard to bring down. Imagine this, with every attack you go tougher and tougher.

Active Buckshot

Graves fires three bullets in a cone, dealing physical damage to all enemies in their path. Enemies at close range can be hit by multiple projectiles, but each bullet beyond the first will deal only 25% damage.

Cost: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 mana
Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds
Physical Damage: 60 / 105 / 150 / 195 / 240 (+0.8 per bonus attack damage)
Max Physical Damage: 90 / 157.5 / 225 / 292.5 / 360 (+1.2 per bonus attack damage)

I take this at level 1 and max it immediately. Smokescreen

Graves fires a smoke canister at the target area, dealing magic damage upon landing and creating a cloud of smoke for 5 seconds. Enemies inside the smoke cloud will be slowed and will have their vision reduced to about 500 range; everything else will look like it is in the Fog of War.

Cost: 70 / 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 mana
Cooldown: 20 / 19 / 18 / 17 / 16 seconds
Magic Damage: 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+0.6 per ability power)
Slow: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35%

I take this at level 3 for the slow and the additional damage output but max it last. Quickdraw

Graves dashes forward, gaining an attack speed boost for 4 seconds. Using autoattacks on enemy units, but not structures, lowers the cooldown of Quickdraw by 1 second each auto attack.

Cost: 50 mana
Range: 425
Cooldown: 22 / 20 / 18 / 16 / 14 seconds
Attack Speed: 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80%

I take this at level 2 and max it immediately after Buckshot. Collateral Damage

Graves fires an explosive shell in a straight line, dealing heavy physical damage to the first champion it hits (also damages non-champion enemies whilst in flight). After hitting a champion or reaching the end of its range, the shell explodes dealing physical damage in a cone behind the target.

Cost: 100 mana
Range: 1000
Cone Range: 800 (estimate)
Cone Width:
Cooldown: 100 / 90 / 80 seconds
Initial Physical Damage: 250 / 350 / 450 (+1.4 per bonus attack damage)
Explosion Physical Damage: 140 / 250 / 360 (+1.2 per bonus attack damage)

Because of its power, I take it at levels 6, 11 and 18.

An optional skill build for Graves is the Buckshot-Smokescreen build. That build gives you more ganking abilities but you sacrifice it for attack speed which is very important for Graves. Remember that Quickdraw is like a mini-Flash. You can use it offensively (mostly) and defensively.

Runes and why I chose them. Greater Mark of Alacrity

Need I say more? Attack speed is the most important component for Graves. It gives you max stacks of True Grit and that passive is also what will keep you alive in a fight.
Greater Seal of Resilience

Armor for lesser chances of dying. Combos well with Graves' passive.
Greater Glyph of Shielding

Magic Resist is also needed for countering some heavy AP artillery like Kog-Maw or Xerath.
Greater Quintessence Of Strength

More attack damage. Nuff said.

I have 21-0-9 Masteries.

Armor Penetration and attack speed are both important for Graves. Extra damage wouldn't hurt would it?


I didn't put any cuz in my opinion I didn't need to. Every attack gives you armor and magic resist so why would you even give a point into this part of the tree.


Graves can sometimes be mana-problematic so I take mana-per-level masteries and more movement speed for catching up with your opponents. Runic Affinity gives you more time to enjoy your red and blue buff.

Items Doran's Blade

Somehow, this feels like a newbie item but actually it isn't. It provides 80 health, 3% lifesteal and 10 AD in one item.

After Doran's Blade your gonna need some movement speed.
