Hello! This is my first guide, and is for one of my favorite champions: Akali, the Fist of Shadow.

Akali is, in my opinion, a super-carry class champion who can completely dominate any other hero 1v1 late-game, provided she is played correctly.

- Great burst damage late-game
- After level 6, can pretty much roam the map and free-farm champion kills
- Gets huge bonuses from ability power and attack damage

- VERY squishy early game, with very little harassment (the only thing you have is mark of the assassin)
- difficult to play correctly
- very item-dependent

Summoner Spells:

Ignite: Combined with Burning Embers, this provides you with a quick extra 2% melee damage, and is a great DoT/heal reduction; all around good for a DPS hero with ganking ability.

Exhaust: Allows you time to beat on an enemy before you need to use another shadow dance charge; also causes an enemy to miss 100% of the time.

Core Items:

Boots of Swiftness: Akali's base movement speed is mediocre at best, and on top of that she's a DPS/ganking hero. Best boots for her unless going up against a stun/disable heavy team, in which case I buy mercury's treads.

Guinsoo's Rageblade: provides Akali with essentially everything she needs. Ability power, Attack Damage, and a stackable buff which increases attack speed and AP every time you cast a spell or auto attack (You will be spamming skills a LOT as Akali, so take advantage of it).

Hextech Revolver: Build this after Guinsoo's Rageblade. Gives Akali Ability Power and Spell Vamp. Not much more to say other than this is a great item for her for its cost.

Lichbane: Grants akali incredibly increased burst damage, as her skills are very spammy.

Bilgewater Cutlass: Not as important as the Revolver, but still good for Akali, this item grants attack damage, lifesteal, and an active nuke/slow.

Hextech Gunblade: Expensive. Get this after Lichbane. It's a great item for Akali because it is another item that just provides her with everything she needs, and more - an activated nuke/slow, +45 attack damage, +55 ability power, +12% spell vamp, and +15% lifesteal.

Mejai's Soulstealer: Great item, probably the best "snowball" item for Akali. At 20 stacks, grants 160 ability power and 20% Cooldown Reduction. Very cost-inefficient at first, but would recommend buying it early game if you have the extra gold early on and are going to be able to get kills.

Sword of the Occult: Good item, Akali benefits much more from +AP items than +attack damage items, especially late game, but still a great slot-filler. Buy this if you have extra gold early game and don't mind spending it on what is, again, initially a very cost-inefficient item.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter: A great item for Akali simply because of the extra health and AP, but it also provides her with a slow every time she deals magic damage to an enemy (which again, will be VERY often, especially late-game)

Early Game:

Grab a long sword (you need it for Akali's passive - it grants spell vamp once you gain 10 attack damage, and you need spell vamp early game for the health regen) and get with a good laning partner (Taric, Alistar, Malphite...Anyone with slows/stuns is a fantastic supplement to Akali). Harass and farm with Mark of the Assassin, but don't be too aggressive - you are very squishy early on and you can't afford to lose out on experience and farm by dying. Stay in the lane until you hit level 6, then run back to base and grab an amplifying tome and boots of speed. Back to the lane, farm some more, and hopefully by mid game you will have Sword of the Occult, Mejai's Soulstealer, and Boots of Swiftness.

Mid Game:

By this point you should have Mejai's Soulstealer, Sword of the Occult, and Boots of Swiftness. Roam and gank, or farm if you prefer, and begin working on Guinsoo's Rageblade. You will need this once the game shifts into pushing and team-fighting.

Late Game:

Finish up Guinsoo's Rageblade and start working on Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Zhonya's Ring, or Void Staff, whichever you prefer. I personally like Void Staff because your attacks do additional Magic Damage and it synergizes so well with Akali in general. You could also get Rod of the Ages, but I don't really care much for it on this particular champion. Keep roaming and ganking and farming; by this point you should be the bane of the enemy team. You should be able to take out Mage-types before they even know what's going on.

Enjoy playing my favorite champ, Akali! Don't downrate without reading!
