This is the Amumu build that I came up with about, oh, say a month ago. It works out really well as Amumu is a fantastic tank. Thing is, hardly anybody ever uses him, and those that I have seen who do usually aren't very good. Hopefully this build can help. this is my first build, so be merciful. XD

Amumu is one of the most underrated champs in the game in my opinion. He is an AMAZING tank, but a lot of people seem to overlook him for some reason or another. His skills are perfect for initiaing ganks and whatnot.

Bandage Toss - When used, it shoots out bandages that stun the target for about 2 seconds while also pulling you to them. This is a great skill for initiating fights. This skill can also be used in those very rare situations in which you have to jump over a wall to flee from enemys/saving an allie that might have otherwise died if you had to go around the wall. It's also great for shasing fleeing champs because of it's long range. However, it IS a skill shot, so learn to aim it well.

Despair - The HP stacking champs worst enemy. It's a toggle ability that does a base ammount of damage to the enemy as well as a certain persentageof damage depending on how much the enemy's max health is. This, along with the sunfire cape, is the main source of your damage output, but we'll save that for later.

Tantrum - This is your main skill. It's an AoE that passivly makes amumu tougher. Use this skill to farm minions with. Don;t be afraid to use it to last hit a single minion, as the cooldown isn't that long on it. The other thing about this spell is that when Amumu is hit, the cooldown of this skill is reduced by half a second. With this in mind, don't be afraid to go charging into a wave of creeps and use it. Odds are, you'll be able to use the skill again in about three seconds. Max this skill ASAP.

Curse of the Sad Mummy - This skill has to be one of the most useful ultimates in the game. When cast, Amumu stuns all enemys that are close to him for about 2 seconds and does damage to them. The 2 second stun may not seem like a long time, but 2 seconds could mean the difference in getting kills and dying. Note that this skill should be saved for when you're in a team fight, but can be used to stun fleeing champs if you wouldn't have been able to kill otherwise.

Learning to use Amumu's skills at the right times is essential to being a good Amumu. Just practice a little and you should get the hang of it.

Start off with a Doran's Shield and a health pot. The shield will allow you to have more staying power. Try to lane as long as you can without dying, last hitting as much as you can. One you have enough money, it's time to go back and get your Ninja Tabi. Now I know what you're saying, "But if you get the Ninja Tabi, then that will affect Tantrum!" Yes yes, I know. However, the 12% dodge chance can come in really handy and you're almost dead, and the armor is always welcome. If you really don't like them however, feel free to substitute them for the boots of your choice. After you have enough gold, return and get your next item, the Heart of Gold. The extra gold will allow to get your other item quicker, and it gives you armor and HP. What more could you want? After the Heart of Gold, rush Sunfire Cape. This, along with your W skill, will make up the majority of your damage. After you get your cape, get a Glacial Shroud. This will eventaully be turned into a Frozen Heart, but not just yet. After the Glacial Shroud, you should go for a Negatron Cloak. Again, this item is going to be made into something else, but just not yet. After you get the Negatron Cloak, NOW it's time to get the Frozen Heart. After that, it's time to get the Force of Nature. Now let's turn our attention to that little Heart of Gold you probably forgot about. This little guy has been so helpful with getting our build, but alas, parting is such sweet sorrow. Trade that sucker in for a Randuin's Omen as soon you get the gold. You won't be needing a lot more gold from now on. The last item is really up to you. I like getting the Banshee's Veil to boost my magic resist, but it's not really needed. If you're facing a lot of casters, then it is highly recomended that you get the Banshee's Veil, and replace the Frozen Heart to a Guardian Angel. If you're playing against a lot of physical DPS champs, then get a Thornmail instead of a Force of Nature.

Summoner Spells

For Summoner Spells, I chose Ghost and Ignite. I picked Ghost because Amumu really doesn't have any way to escape from enemys/chase them down. This skill is paramont to Amumu being able to chase people.

Ignite is my other choice, mainly because I don't like the other options. You can substitute Flash or Fortify, but I just like ignite better.

The runes I've pick for this build are pretty straightfoward. Flat HP Marks, HP Per Level Seals, Magic Pen. Glyphs, and CDR Quints. I picked CDR Quints because Amumu needs all the CDR he can get. It allows him to use his Ulty more often, and it also help if your Q skill is needed. You can substitute those for HP per level Quints instead, but make sure toy use CDR Seals instead of CDR Seals.

Early game - You are a dual lane champ. never a mid champ. If you have a jungler on your team, then go bot. If not, then it's up to you. Try to lane with a champ who will benifit most from your stun. Maybe another champ with a stun? A double stun is almost a sure way to get first blood. As such, Amumu lanes will with champs like AP Sion, Morgana, ect. Try to get blue buff as soon as you're confortable that you won't die. Amumu is very mana ineffecient early game, and as such, he's very mana starved. only use despair around enemy champs as you'll need all the mana you can get when you fight them, and stun them when they push to hard.

Mid Game - You should have your Heart of Gold by now, and if all has gone well, you've gotten a few kills and assists. This is where Amumu shines. Since he does have two stuns, you should be the one to lead the charge into battle. With your tankiness, you should be able to tank the turrets with the help of minions and allies. Try your best not to die though, as that leaves the rest of your team vunalrable. Team fights shoud have started by now, and you should be the one to start them. Remember that it's your job as the tank to initiate the fight, and to call it off if things get hairy. Whatever you do, don't EVER leave a fight without first telling your team. If you do that, you are putting the whole team at risk. Always run behind youe squishies.

Late Game - You should be close to having your full build by now. You should be pushing hard and tanking even harder. Not much should have changed in your playstyle between mid and late game. just play like you have been since mid game, and you should be ok.
