A simple and easy way to play Amumu. As the title of the build says, the point of the build is to stack as much health as humanly possible. More health on Amumu means more time near your opponents, which means more Sunfire's Cape hits and Despair hits, along with more tantrums as your enemies attempt to kill you.
Ninja Tabi instead of Mercury Treads
-If the team is mainly physical dps or has minor CCs.
After you get your Warmog's Armor and first Sunfire cape, tailor your items to go with the flow of the game. If your team is dominating, get another sunfires or a Rylai's Crystal Scepter. Your tantrum / despair + Rylai's slow makes Amumu even more amazing in team fights.
If you're fighting a bunch of mages, get a Banshee's Veil before getting more Sunfire's Cape.
If you're not sure what to get, Sunfire's Cape is always a solid choice.
A skillshot stun that pulls you to your opponent. Good for catching up to an enemy that is running away or pulling yourself into the middle of a team fight quickly, allowing you to hit most/all of the enemy team with your Curse of the Sad Mummy.
A toggled area of effect damage over time spell. It constantly drains mana while on, dealing damage every second equal to a percentage of the enemy's health. Always turn this spell on if you're near an opponent that you are attacking, the drain adds up.
A spam-able area of effect spell. It's passive makes you take less damage from physical attacks, which makes minion hits negligible, and its active attacks all enemies around you for minor magic damage. It doesn't hit hard, but its cooldown will lower every time you are hit by an enemy, allowing you to generally spam it in team fights.
Curse of the Sad Mummy
A large area of effect snare that prevents enemies from using physical attacks and moving, this is the move that your team loves you for. The best way to use this move is to use a Bandage Toss at the beginning of a team battle, pulling yourself close to all the enemies, and launching it, allowing your team to get a strong first hit on the enemy team. Also great for catching runners. Beware its long cooldown.
This is the toughest part of the game for this build. I start with a Doran's Shield for the health and health regen, and a Mana Potion for Amumu's early mana issues. Generally play cautious during this time, you don't have the health advantage now that you will have later. Get Chalice of Harmony ASAP to remove mana problems. Don't be afraid to recall back to base, that's why you have Teleport. Use flash if your enemies attempt to gank you.
This is when you can start being aggressive. Hopefully by now you have your Chalice of Harmony and at least the level 1 boots, along with your Curse of the Sad Mummy skill. The best thing to do is to let a squishy carry get a little too cocky, use Bandage Toss on him, use Curse of the Sad Mummy right as your stun lets up, and have you and your friend beating on him this whole time. Make sure your Despair is on and you hit Tantrum every time it is up. Get Warmog's ASAP to start stacking that health up.
If you did well in the first part of the game, this is where you become unfair. You will have a lot of health and shouldn't be afraid of being the first one to hop into a team fight. You also should have enormous farming ability with Tantrum. Your job now is to initiate team fights, when both teams are about to attack each other, Bandage Toss towards your enemies and launch your Curse of the Sad Mummy, and laugh as your Despair, Sunfire's Cape(s), and Tantrum eats them alive. Use Teleport to keep control over the whole map, clearing enemy waves of minions and getting near your team to ensure you're there for most/all of the team fights.
