Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Hello and thank you for reading my guide. I have been playing anivia since I was lv 12 over a year ago. She one of my top 3 favorite champs that I really feel gets overlooked cause most people simply don't know how to play her or don't try very hard. She can be played as either support or a carry but i'll be talking about playing carry anivia for now. Anyway lets get started.
Pros / Cons
Has great burst damage
Has a large amount of AoE CC
Has an impassible wall
Has 2 lives
Has mana problems
NEEDS blue buff late game
Easily pushes the lane
Flash is a great spell that can let you be aggressive or defensive. With no innate escape move anivia relies on this to escape.
Like flash above it lets you be both aggressive, if you use it for the slow, or defensive, if you use it for the reduced damage, either way its a great spell even without the mastery.
Ghost is also an exceptable spell. I find its better for chasing and worse for escaping on anivia but it's still good.
Ignite is also a good replacement for exhaust if you like playing really aggressive or are laning against vlad in mid or are playing as a support on bottom.
Teleport can be helpfull as well because it can get you back to the lane quickly but because you are always near the action anyways it's less usefull outside of laning.
I go 21/2/7. This may seem weird at first but I find that it works well. The 21 offense gives you plenty of damage output. The 7 utility get you more mana and mana regen but I don't find much use in anything else unless you go really deep. The last 2 I put into armor which is your lowest defensive stat. You could invest those 2 points into scout and summoner's wraith if you wanted though.
Alternativly you could also go 9/0/21 or 1/0/19 if you want the extra xp or gold from utility. The main things you want are and arcane_knowledge. These help your damage output and (because your an AP champ) helps you kill towers faster.
These are the core runes that I use. It lets you take a good amount of damage from AD champs and the magic pen with the MR per level scale well into late game.
greater seal of replenishment is good if you find you are running out of mana really fast.
This is also a good choice though it's more of an early game rune in my opinion so I prefer Magic Pen cause it scales into late game better.
Anivia has fairly low CD's amd continuous damage from her ult so i find these less appealing but being abled to make the wall sooner is nice.
Ok before I begin let me say that the skill sequencing above is just a guide line. If you haven't played
before then follow that cause it is simple and effective.
Frostbite is your primary damage dealer. It has a low cooldown, costs little mana (when compared to the other 3) and can potentially deal double damage. Always level this up when you can unless your ult is available.
These are your bread and butter spells. Which one you level up first (after frostbit of course) is really dependent on your skill and play style. I personally prefer to put 2 points into crystalize then max out flash_frost I will explain my reasoning later under the Skills and Tricks section.
Your ult and a right good one at that. Has decent DPS, slows movement speed and attack speed and make deal double damage to targets it hurts. Also farms the lane really fast after rank 2.
