Nice guide. Relatively simple but full of the information you need to get going.

Do you ever start Doran's Shield? I've faced a couple of Teemo's of late and the poke can be brutal without running Doran's Shield and Bone Plating + Second Wind. He is for sure killable once you have your ult and after poking with Q a couple of times.

If you started Doran's Shield would you skip Doran's Ring and go straight into The Dark Seal + Refillable Potion?

How do you typically combo your abilities in an all-in? Unstoppable Force + Brutal Strikes + Ground Slam + Seismic Shard? Any autoattack weaving in there. Animation cancels?

Thoughts on the Veigar match-up? Probably not very frequent in Top lane, but I went against one and it felt bad using the runes and starting items suggested in your guide. Another one where the Doran's Shield, Second Wind, and Bone Plating setup seems like it would be more workable.

Do your rely on the waveclear from the AoE aspect of Iceborn Gauntlet when Q maxing? I get the numbers aspect of maxing Q and W first, but I feel like my waveclear really suffers when maxing Ground Slam last.

Thank you for your comment!

No I don't consider Doran's shield being an answer in any cases. To be honest, recently I started to try running Corrupting potion instead of Doran's ring and it is pretty good as well (not sure if exactly better). It's more about playstyle against both Teemo or Veigar. You will have to play it safe and farm early on and sometimes you have to give up some cs, that's life. Malphite is situational pick, he shouldn't be considered as something that you should play in any case.

If you want to try different path for starting items - try Corrupting potion into Dark Seal and Sapphire Crystal on first shop. Or at least Dark Seal.

About all-in I usually go like R -> W -> AA -> Q -> AA -> E -> AA. You can probably swap E and Q order, but I like to have my target pinned down, in case that it decides to flash away or something (to keep my speed-up).

And yes, Iceborn Gauntlet waveclear is pretty important if you want to shove lane really fast and it should be more than enough to waveclear without maxing E. In some cases you don't really rush gauntlet - like against AP matchups. But there you are usually in pretty bad spot and you don't really want to push - just poke with Q and play it safe. Generally I never lacked ability to push wave fast when having Gauntlet, because the more armor you have, the bigger AoE is and later on you are going to have really huge splash there, so generally you are going to be able to shove wave of any size really fast.

I hope this sort-of helps and in case that you have additional questions or if I accidentally didn't exactly answer any of your questions, feel free to ask!

Thank you for the detailed response. It is quite helpful! I'll try starting corrupting potion in match-ups where I am likely to get poked a lot.

Tried this build in an ARAM when I got Malphite. It was okay but I couldn't stop making rock related puns throughout. I think my team hated me.

This guide is solid like diamond !

Great builds for various situations clear to understand
Meaningful runes choices with nice design
Compact but core details concerning the gameplay through the main stage of the game
Nice useful match-up section, maybe would have put the green one (easy) first and the hard (red) in last.

Definitely a good guide, +1 :)

Old Malphite Main here since S2, picking up the game again and will be using this guide as a guideline whilst getting back into it.
I can imagine that I won't agree with everything in this guide, but we'll see. I'll get back here in a couple of days probably with my take on the sunfire rush. Always liked it with my playstyle, the mentioned drawback in terms of mana issues aren't a big deal if you know how and when to spend your mana (or at the very least that used to be the case, hence this is why I will need to double confirm)

Every single item build is depending on playstyle, if it doesn't fit to yours, then you should rather stick with your build. You said that it's not drawback if you know how and when to spend your mana - is there any moment when you don't want to harass your opponent, if you have chance to do so? I believe there is, if you would run out of mana like that. My point is, that I am usually trying to dominate my lane opponent as hard as possible, by constant harass that Q might provide, but I don't know what you are exactly up to with Sunfire and what did you exactly mean by that statement, so I guess it just depends.

The guide sounds fund, I always play him as jungler with a very different playstile... About the ultimate hat: ok, it works better with long games, but isn't it better to be able to cover your engager role instead of focusing on winning the lane?

Question is, if you are able to utilize it's cooldown properly then. I simply prefer stomping my opponent, putting him behind, together with his team, rather than having lower cooldown on ult here, but I guess that depends on playstyle.

nive guide my friend just i have poblem when its up to be Malphite vs Kled is something I give a level 6 threat:
His level 2 is not that strong against Malphite, but after he's bought black cleaver, then you should ask for ganks or start roaming or only respond to trades with Q/E ( Assuming the Kled is above average )

Kled can be usually quite challenging, even though you should try to play more as I mentioned in this guide. Don't ever go to him and just throw your Q whenever you can. When he gets on you, slow his attack speed with E and run. When you drop him off his mount, don't let him mount up again and just keep poking slowly. After you drop him to certain amount, you can just all in with ult and destroy him. That's what worked for me mostly, even though it was tough for me at start, until I realised what to do.
