Fiddlesticks is a hero that can save the whole team in a team fight and with his massive amounts of damage he can turn a definitely lost team fight into a win.
Many people play Fiddlesticks as a jungler. Well i have jungled plenty of times with Fiddle and he can indeed be a very good jungler and ganker, but i believe this should be a work for champions like Warwick, Udyr, Nunu etc.

Pros:
Massive amounts of AoE damage with his ulti.
Very powerful at 1v1 and in team fights
He doesn t need to go at the base when he has low HP thanks to drain
He is an anti-spellcaster champion with silence and he can easily kill or escape with fear
Cons:
He s pretty fragile at the beginning

Firstly I buy a Ampifying Tome, because some extra AP can be very useful at the beginning, and it gives you the luxury to buy a potion in case you need it.
Then I buy Boots of speed for some mobility and then I start making Rylai s Crystal Scepter.
Rylai s crystal scepter is exactly what Fiddlesticks need at the early-mid game, HP, AP and an extra ability: slowing the enemies when you hit them. It s like havng the red buff all the time.
Then I finish the Boots of Lucidity. I pick those because Fiddlesticks ulti has a pretty big cooldown but if you want, you can make sorcerer boots instead.
After this I make Rabadon s Deathcape for some tones of AP. After Rabadon, you become so powerful ,that you just kill your enemies with 1 drain, and win a team fight only with your ulti.
Void Staff is my next item if the enemies have lots f magic resistance, if they don t, I usually make Abyssal Scepter for Ap and magic res or Morello s Evil tome for Cooldown reduction.
Then I make Lich bane for tha Ap, Mana, Magic res, movement speed and the extra damage that you get by it s passive. It s exactly what fiddlesticks need.
Finally I make Zhonya s Hourglass, so the enemies won t be able to hit me while i cast ulti or drain and for the armor and AP that it gives me

Ignite: Because there s nothing more annoying than the enemy champion getting away with 10 hp.
Flash: It s the best escape mechanis if you know how to use it
ALternative choices:
Clarity: If you re running out of mana all the time
Exhaust: If you want to slow your enemies
Spells you shoudn t take:
Clairvoyance: ALthough it s a very annoying spell you re not a supporter
Fortify: Look right above
Smite: Only if you re jungling
Rally: It s just useless... and you re not a supporter
Revive: NO! JUST NO!
Ghost: So the enemy never gets away and you can easily escape.
