Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
WHAT? NO TANK BUILDS FOR GRAGAS????
Did you not look at him? he has a big fat belly thats perfect for soaking up damage.
Teleport: In 5v5, this spell is very useful to getting around the map. not so much useful in 3v3.
Ghost: Another useful spell for movement, mainly chasing or running away.
Ignite: some nice damage to tick away, no one is really going to notice.
Exhaust: exhaust + body slam and they aren't getting away.
to start, quintessence of flat health. nearly 100 extra hp so i dont see why no one wouldn't take these.
for my marx, i use a little trick i like to call the proletariat. i dont really know what that means, but the marks i get scaling mana. nearly 200 mana by level 18, and thats good as you will drain mana as if it was booze.
for my seals, i prefer the elephant ones, scaling mana regen. endgame is more mana regen, and as i already stated your gonna need mana.
lastly, for my glyphs, which by the way i dont have any stupid thing to say with it, i get the cooldown reductions. once again scaling for more cd. with all that mana and mana regen more spellcasting will do you good.
if you havnt guessed by now, besides specializing to soak up damage like a sponge, you also get a little benefit to your spells, to kill things, with...
anyway, for the masteries i went with 0/21/9.
first i like to start out with boots and 2 health pots. thats usually what i start out with on all my characters, but its good.
i upgrade the boots to the ninja tabi, i spent that mastery in nimbleness so i want as much dodging as possible. next thing i get is the heart of gold and wardens mail (in that order) to upgrade to randuin's omen. one of the best active item abilities is on it, use it often.
after the omen i take a little break from the heavy tanking and go a little to my casting, getting the catalyst (of) the protector and upgrading it to rod of ages.
usually around this time it is 30 minutes of game. the games usually last for 45-50 minutes when i play them so dont worry about not getting the full benefit of the RoA
after the rod, i grab rylai's crystal scepter for some nice ap/health and a nice slowing ability.
finally i grab the banshee's veil or the sunfire cape, whichever you feel like getting first.
gragas has a fat belly, obviously, and little weaklings with little defense (im not gonna list any names... veigar....) will find it comforting to hide behind.
no one is going to notice the barrel sitting there in a middle of a fight, enjoy the fireworks.
your a tank. pick fights. start by dancing for a few seconds before either body slamming an enemy or using the explosive power of alcohol to push them at you.
drunken rage is your friend. AA is for quiters.
