Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
So for Olaf you want a good amount of life steal because of Vicious Strikes the more life steal for Olaf the better. Any champion that has a good amount of life steal should always get some Attack Speed so he can life steal it back and help him live through a long fight. Critical Hit items are great for life steal champions, the amount of life steal you get from one hit can really save your life OR destroy theirs.
So taking the Armor Penetration Reds for any Attack Damage champion is always a good choice to help shred through people with a lot of armor, also, since his ult gives more armor penetration I don't think you will have a problem killing any tanks. Also some Attack Speed Reds are not a bad choice either. Armor or Dodge yellows, really its up to you. Magic Resist per level Blues are a must have for me due to the fact Olaf scales so much better late game. 1 Armor pen and 2 Health Quintessence are fine were they are.
21/9/0 is basically focused on early game then anything really. Little more armor and magic resist why not? Makes early game stronger and helps with sustainability in lane.
The Doran's Shield early is the same as the masteries, just to give that little more armor and sustainability in the early game phase. Early boots plus Attack Speed, why not? If your getting low health a lot early the Attack Speed from Berserker's Greaves + your Vicious Strikes can help with your early lane phase with its life steal bonus. The Wriggles and phage are also pointed at your early game sustainability. The Phantom Dancer to help chase down your targets. Frozen Mallet for the Slow + extra health. Then your to BF Sword items of course for the damage and extras they give.
To me, maxing Vicious Strikes is so helpful to lane sustain early game with that life steal. Maxing Reckless Swing is kind of obvious to me, true damage, well everyone knows that ****es **** up. His ult, just one sec I'm going to just solo there whole team really quick 1 sec. That Undertow, not even Teemo can run O.o
Exhausted, to me, is a must have on any AD champion. Flash, well, at the moment, best summoner spell in the game why not get that? (Questions on why I don't get ghost to chase? Read the summary)
This build is focused around Life steal, Sticking to your target, and ****ing **** up. Frozen Mallet + Phantom Dancer + Undertow = you mad bro Troll face! Hmmm I'm just going to slow you with undertow , then I will run at you super fast with my Phantom Dancer, then I'm just going to continuously slow you with my Frozen Mallet. How does that sound?
