Champion Build Guide
Great rune on Sion for trading and contributes to your burst damage later into the game.
One of the most importance runes in the build, demolish synergizes great with Sion's health scaling and can earn you some plates early while making taking turrets much easier later into the game.
While the other runes can also be great options, I prefer conditioning because it can mitigate bruiser Sion's lack of resistance stats.
Unflinching / Overgrowth
Unflinching is a great rune if the enemy team has some heavy cc but you aren't willing to build merc treads. Despite changes a while back, Overgrowth synergizes pretty well with Sion and makes sure you are getting something in the laning phase even if you are being zoned off minions.
Legend Alacrity is generally pretty easy to stack and is a great option if the enemy team isn't too cc heavy as it compliments the damage trinity force and titanic offer Sion.
Last stand works well on Sion as it is very difficult to burst Sion and his w allows him to survive in fights even at low health. The rune also boosts his damage to turrets and objective which improves his pressure.
During the early game, you want to focus on getting ahead by csing and smart trades with your laner. If you can get your jungler to gank make sure to save your e to initiate the gank and try to get the enemy laner to engage on you and blow important abilities before the jungler arrives. Sion's w can be really helpful with baiting enemies to engage on a low health Sion making for an easy kill. Take as many turret plates with demolish as you can and don't be afraid to collapse on overextended enemies or help out the mid laner or jungler in the river or jungle. Sion excels in team fights and even if you die your passive can be extremely dangerous early.
In the mid and late game you want to focus on pushing waves as much as possible to take turrets for your team and allow them to secure objectives like drag and baron. If both teams start gathering mid or in another lane you can either continue pushing if you don't think a serious fight will break out or ult in to engage. If a fight has already started you have the same choice as before. If you think your team can win the fight, continue pushing and coordinate to take objectives with your team but if your team is losing and you think you can get to them fast enough to prevent a wipe ult in and focus on taking out important enemy squishies. If you don't think you can get to your team fast enough focus on taking an objective and getting out with ult or a recall. While Sion is strong as a split pusher, sometimes it is best to just stick with your team and engage on overextended enemies or force fights this becomes more important towards the end of the game when a greedy push can cripple your team for the next minute.
