[SEASON 13] bobqinXD's Challenger Leblanc Guide *UPDATED*

By bobqinxdd

Hey guys, I'm an NA Challenger LeBlanc one trick; I have over 10 million mastery points (6,000+ games). I've gotten 4 Challenger accounts, playing mostly LeBlanc, and today I will be bringing you my ultimate LeBlanc guide for season 9.

This guide will include all of the combos you need to know and when to use them, many advanced tips and tricks that I use at a challenger level, and how to play LeBlanc perfectly in the early, to the mid, to the late game.
Most Used Accounts:

When versus melee matchups such as Yasuo, Akali, Irelia, and Galio I like to switch Sudden Impact with Taste of Blood since you can proc it very easily and gives you that extra bit of sustain in lane.

If you're a very lane dominant player, I recommend going Inspiration over Sorcery.

In the third tree, I actually like taking the 10% attack speed for offense. It feels absolutely incredible and smooth for last hitting, pushing, and trading in lane; having the 9 AP early just doesn't feel as impactful, and for those of you that haven't tried this, I recommend giving it a shot. You will definitely fall in love with it.
DOMINATION
INSPIRATION
The reason I like going Minion Dematerializer and Time Warp Tonic secondary is that it helps a lot with your laning and last-hitting, and once you've used it enough times on the caster minions you can easily one shot them with your W( Distortion).

Dark Harvest

Hail of Blades

Sudden Impact

Zombie Ward

Ghost Poro
Eyeball Collection
Ravenous Hunter

Ingenious Hunter

Relentless Hunter

Ultimate Hunter
Use all 3 on the caster minions so you can have an easier time 1 shotting them with your Distortion (W). The new Time Warp Tonic actually feels quite nice; it saved me countless times from Ignite and the bonus movement speed is awesome to have.

You can also take Manaflow Band and Transcendence or Absolute Focus second if you're looking to play for scaling.

For summoner spells, I use Flash + Ignite, but vs aftershock champions ( Sylas, Lissandra, Galio) or champions that I cannot kill in lane such as Morgana/ Kassadin, I use Flash + Teleport.

I use Flash + Teleport

Q E W Q Q R Q W Q W R W W E E R E E

Mirror Image
PASSIVE: MIRROR IMAGE
INNATE: When LeBlanc reaches below 40% maximum health, she creates a controllable clone of herself with the same items, statistics, health and mana, after which they both instantly become invisible for 1 second. The clone can basic attack but deals no damage, lasts for 8 seconds, and starts running 1900 units towards a random place in front of LeBlanc decided the moment it spawns.

Mirror Image can only occur once every few seconds.
Her passive, Mirror Image, creates a clone of LeBlanc when you drop below 40% health; you can move the clone by pressing the Alt Key. The clone lasts for 8 seconds and deals no damage.

This is really deceiving for the enemy, so you can use it creatively to outplay them.

Sigil of Malice
Q: SIGIL OF MALICE
ACTIVE: LeBlanc projects an orb towards the target enemy, dealing Ability power magic damage and marking them for 3.5 seconds.

The mark will be consumed once LeBlanc damages the marked target with an ability, dealing the same magic damage again.

LeBlanc's Q, Sigil of Malice, is a targeted spell that deals damage and marks the enemy; you can proc the mark by landing another skill and deal even more damage. Max Sigil of Malice second.

Distortion
W: DISTORTION
FIRST CAST: LeBlanc dashes to the target location, damaging all nearby enemies upon arrival and leaving a return pad at the cast location for 4 seconds. After 0.2 seconds she can recast Distortion at no additional cost.

SECOND CAST: LeBlanc blinks to Distortion's return pad.

LeBlanc's W, Distortion is a dash that deals damage in the area she lands. You can reactivate Distortion in the next 4 seconds to go back to the original spot.

This is LeBlanc's main source of damage and wave clear; max Distortion first.

Ethereal Chains
E: ETHEREAL CHAINS
ACTIVE: LeBlanc flings an illusory chain in the target direction, dealing magic damage to the first enemy it hits and tethering herself to them for 1.5 seconds.

The target is revealed while the tether is attached, and if it is not broken the target will be rooted for 1.5 seconds and dealt additional magic damage.

LeBlanc's E, Ethereal Chains, is a skill shot chain. If Ethereal Chains hits a target, and it doesn't break, it will route the target for 1.5 seconds.

Mimic
R: MIMIC
ACTIVE: LeBlanc casts a mimicked version of her most recently used basic ability, applying the same effects and dealing modified magic damage.

Mimic Sigil of Malice: Deals modified damage and double damage upon triggering the mark.

Mimic Distortion: Deals modified damage.

Mimic Ethereal Chains: Deals modified damage and double damage upon rooting.

LeBlanc's ultimate is Mimic. You can copy the last skill you used on LeBlanc whether it is Q, W, or E.

The question I get the most often is: “Why does LeBlanc have like a hundred different combos and when do I use which combo?” Don't worry, there's actually only 5 useful combos you need to know to play this champion well; the other combos are not very practical in real situations.

There are two basic combos to use without using your ultimate.
For standard trades and burst
For closing in on the enemy, and for trading.
One common mistake I see with LeBlanc players is that they love using their ultimate to mimic Q, Mimic Sigil of Malice, early. This is actually the worst combo you can do during the early stages of the game; this combo is not efficient at all until you are level 13+; it does very little damage early. It is difficult to proc the Mimic Sigil of Malice damage part of the combo because it is very easy for the enemy to react to it. The only way you can be useful with this combo in the early game is if the enemy is running into you while you are not seen or if they are cc'd for you to land all of your damages. Try to avoid using this combo until around level 11.

-Enemy Facechecking
-CC'ed for you
The most versatile combo you can use throughout the whole game. You can use your ultimate for big AoE damage gap close, or jukes. Rank one mimic W, Mimic Distortion, actually provides not that much damage; your W, Distortion, actually does more damage than Mimic Distortion before level 11, so using it as a gap close early is perfectly fine. After level 11, you should look to use it more for damage. The damage is very instant and the area is very wide, it is very hard for the enemy to react to it and it's a great combo throughout the entire mid to late game. Use this combo for gap close damage before level 10, and use it preferable only for damage after level 11.
Also known as Double Chain, this is the best combo in the early game anywhere between level 6 to 13. Depending on the situation, it is very effective at setting up ganks with a jungler. By landing the first chain you are guaranteed to land the second one, which will literally snare the enemy for up to 3 seconds total.

Fun Fact: This combo actually does the same amount of damage as Distortion-> Mimic Distortion, [Q-R(Q)], but adds CC on top of it.

It is also very effective when it comes to picking people off in the jungle and trading in one-on-one situations. The best way to use this combo is by weaving in multiple Auto Attacks in between the chain duration so you can maximize the damage to deal to the enemy. Look to use this combo as much as you can in the early to mid game. It's the perfect combo to set up and snowball early leads for yourself and your team.
You can use E, Ethereal Chains, plus flash on LeBlanc to catch your opponent off guard. E( Ethereal Chains) + Flash into Q( Sigil of Malice) + W( Distortion) is best when finishing off a low health opponent who has Flash up. Once your chain connects they won't be able to escape even if they flash. Over the course of eight years of playing League of Legends, I can guarantee you it is near impossible to react to E Ethereal Chains + Flash, unless you play on 10 ping or you name is either Faker or Bjergsen.
This is the safest trading pattern you can abuse before level 11; you are almost never in danger because you can just double Distortion back, leaving the enemy no room to trade back while taking a huge burst of damage at the same time. Using your ultimate as a gap close before level 11 is perfectly fine since it actually doesn't do that much damage so don't feel bad.
This is the fastest burst combo; this combo is very instant, and with the help Auto Attack + Ignite + Electrocute, you can easily one shot anyone that's near 60% health.
Example Full Combo
(Return)
(Return)
LeBlanc based assassin, so after using a skill and your ultimate use the remaining spells on the target to finish the rotation for maximum damage.
W ( Distortion) an enemy as you Dematerialize a canon, this will surprise the enemy with your level 6 power spike and you can easily pick up a kill or get a great trade with a double chain combo.

Note here, at (4:26), pay close attention to your exp bar on the third cannon wave. This is where both laners hit around level 6.
When trading, most enemies like to stand behind their caster minions to avoid getting hit by LeBlanc's Ethereal Chains, but with the help of a few auto attacks your can actually one shot the caster minions as you w onto them making the enemy wide open for Ethereal Chains. It's a simple move, but even challenger players fall for it, so I'm sure you can easily abuse this as well.

Note that, at level 5 with Dark Seal, you need two auto attacks on each caster minion for them to get one shot by your W( Distortion). Level 7 to 9 just one auto attack is needed.
You can Dash over the middle of the Nexus to get back to lane just a tiny bit faster.
Starting Items
Always start Corrupting Potion, and buy a Dark Seal in your next buy.

Path 1
Depending on the matchups, if you are laning against a Xerath, Orianna, or Cassiopeia (champions that are heavily reliant on landing skill shots) rush Sorcerer's Shoes.
Sorcerer's Shoes
Path 2
If you are laning against Annie, Yasuo, or Vladimir (champions that don't really have skill shots) rush Lost Chapter.

Luden's Echo
Sorcerer's Shoes
If the enemy team comp has a lot of CC, you can swap Sorcerer's Shoes with Mercury's Treads.

Depending on the enemy team comp you either complete Morellonomicon or sit on Oblivion Orb and complete the next item.
Oblivion Orb
If the enemy team a lot of healing such as Soraka, Vladimir, or Aatrox.

Against:
Magic Resist
CC and Magic Damage
Armor and Burst Damage
If you are really fed and are snowballing
Void Staff
Banshee's Veil
Zhonya's Hourglass
Rabadon's Deathcap
and or Mejai's Soulstealer
Final Build
Your final build should look something like this, with only Zhonya's Hourglass and Banshee's Veil being changeable:
Try to play aggressive in the early game; you can trade heavily level one and two with your Corrupting Potion. LeBlanc is a very skirmish champion, so fighting in the jungle with your jungler early is very advantageous. Communicate well with your jungler since LeBlanc's Ethereal Chains is probably the best skill at setting up ganks; by landing the chain you are guaranteed for a kill if not Flash at the very least.

After laning phase is over, look to be on the side lane. The reason why assassins tend to be on the side lane is because the lane is longer, therefore you will have more room for kills when you are running them down.

Oracle Lens and Control Wards are your best friends. Make sure never to cheap out on Control Wards because vision is key when playing assassin-like champions. After getting the push down in the side lane pop your Oracle Lens and disappear into the enemy's jungle. This puts an immense amount of pressure for the enemy team and forces them to face check into the jungle where he can pick up free kills and snowball.

As an assassin, LeBlanc's job in the late game is to blow up the enemy's carries. I don't think LeBlanc necessarily gets outscaled in the late game, however you do have to be very creative during teamfights to find a pick on the enemy backline. You can easily carry a teamfight single-handedly if you play it right. I recommend using the W( Distortion) + Flash + R( Mimic Distortion) combo to burst their backline, or Q( Sigil of Malice) + R( Mimic Sigil of Malice) if you are ever in range to catch someone off guard.

Again, vision is key when it comes to wrapping around and surprising your enemy, so try to ignore their tanks and use your combos on important members only.
There are three matchups that I think are really unfavorable for LeBlanc
Kassadin
-Passively takes less magic damage (15% reduced Magic Damage)
-His Q gives a Magic Shield

It is the perfect champion to counter AP Assassins. To play against him, your only advantage is pre-level 6; look to freeze the wave and communicate well with the jungler to take advantage of his melee status. It gets harder after six and onwards; it's a difficult matchup and very snowbally for the Kassadin. Usually I will just ban this champion.

Lissandra and Galio
Lissandra and Galio are very very similar in play style. They both take Aftershock and Teleport to be annoying during laning phase and they can also trade back very well with their kit. These two champions are very hard to take advantage of during lane phase and you can't really kill them but they also can't really kill you.
I had a blast making this LeBlanc guide, and I really appreciate you taking the time to read through and or watch it. I'm excited to see you guys win more LeBlanc games by applying the tips I shared with you.

I'll be making a lot more guides and videos so make sure to check out and subscribe to my Youtube channel and share my content with friends, thanks.
