Hi, this the first build i'm going to post so please, feel free to add comments or constructive criticism in case you feel i missed something. Also, my first language is french, so i might make some spelling errors.

I decided to make Galio my new main character after playing a couples of games with him. Why? Because he's an incredible game changer/carry/team destroyer. He's easy fo ''**** around'' with, but he's incredibly hard to master in my opinon. So that's why we wont see a ton of Galio like we've seen a ton of Xin Zhao or VLadimir. You can carry a team, but you wont have 30-0-15 scores. More like 8-5-35.

Pros and con


Good AP at start
Decent burst damage
Extremely good support( Trough his slow, his armor buff and his speed buff)
Good Lane controller
Extremely good farmer
Not mana dependant (with the right masteries and items)
His ultimate is an insane team wrecking mecanism
With his speed buff, he's fairly hard to gank on mid


Extremely cooldown dependant (Once all 4 skills used, pretty much useless on the battlefield)
His taunt has a fearly long cooldown.
Cannot be build as pure AP or pure tank to really really shine on the battlefield
Require some tanking skills (recommend shen or rammus before trying him)
Require some casting skills (try ezreal, you need to LAND those skill shot)


Runic Skin - Galio converts 50% of his total Magic Resistance into Ability Power.

Its a fairly good passive, gives decent AP at starts, but people shouldnt go over-the-top with this. Its like Rammus passive, doesnt mean you can only stacks magic resist. But off course, it make items like Abyssal scepter (70 AP, 57 MR, 20 MPr) a must!!

Resolute Smite - Galio fires a concussive blast from his eyes, slowing and dealing damage to enemies caught near the impact point.
Galio fires a concussive blast from his eyes, dealing 60/115/170/225/280 (+0.6) magic damage to enemies near the impact location, and reducing their movement speed by 24/28/32/36/40% for 2.5 seconds.

60/65/70/75/80 Mana

Good slow, but its a skill shot and the cooldown doesnt forgive when you miss your shot. Mainly used for farming together with Righteous Gust.

Bulwark - Galio shields an ally Champion, increasing their Armor and Magic Resistance, and restoring Galio's health each time that Champion suffers damage.
Galio shields a friendly champion for 4 seconds, increasing their Armor and Magic Resistance by 30/45/60/75/90. Each time the unit suffers damage, Galio is healed for 20/32/44/56/68 (+0.3). (-20% healing for each consecutive hit)

60/60/60/60/60 Mana

Extremely good skill. Why do i max it last? since you will be laning in mid and that you will be controlling the lane, you wont get harassed much, so the skill will loose its purpose. If you feel confident that you dont need it for yourself in team fight, use it to defend your carry. OR use it for the 45 AP boost it gives for 4 sec (Trough your passive)

Righteous Gust - Galio claps his wings, unleashing a gust of concussive wind that damages enemies and leaves a directional draft in its wake that increases ally movement speed.
Galio unleashes a gust of concussive wind that deals 70/115/160/205/250 (+0.8) magic damage to all enemies in its path. A directional draft remains for 5 seconds, increasing the movement speed of allies passing through it by 20/24/28/32/36%.

70/75/80/85/90 Mana

This is Galio ''CHARGE IN' LEEEEEEEEROYYYYYYYYY JENKINSSSSSSSSSSSSS'' move. Great for farming, for chasing, i max it right after resolute smite. Together with Chalice of harmony, you shouldnt have much problems farming or controlling your lane.

Idol of Durand - Galio assumes the form of a statue, taunting nearby enemies and storing concussive energy as they attack him. Galio then bursts from his statue shell, releasing the stored energy to damage surrounding foes.
Galio channels for 2.5 seconds, taunting nearby foes and blocking 30% of incoming damage.

After channeling, Galio deals 220/330/440 (+0.85) magic damage to surrounding enemies, plus an additional 10% damage for each attack he suffered while channeling. Max 80% bonus damage.

100/145/190 Mana

Now, that skill is what makes Galio so dangerous in team fight. His high durability makes him able to just charge in the group of enemy and decide when to start it. Its a good mix of amumu's ulti and nunu. And with a little bit of AP, that things can wreck teams apart.

Summoner Spells
Some people will call you noob for taking teleport. But i say you are the smartest person alive with this spell. You see, Galio is an extremely good lane controller with Resolute smite and righteous gust, and because of that, he should always be mid, i'd give him mid even with characters as Karthus or TF in his team. Galio really shine in mid lane.

You see your bottom lane getting wrecked? Pop teleport, jump in, ulti, you might even get a double kill. You want to shop but doesnt want to leave heimer in mid unwatched? Pop teleport, go shop, and come back. You're low on health, just aced them, and want to heal, recall, pop teleport.

I Tought ghost was good on Galio, but on a really really late game, i sold my boots for an extra zonya's and i was still able to charge in with righteous gust. I did a quadra kill by popping fortify+teleport+ultimate on a lane that was getting destroyed. I won 6 game in a row with teleport+fortify.

Also, when you are mid and activate Fortify, if you enemy is dumb enough to be killed by it, the kill point will go to you and not be wasted. For me its just a must, even in non-ranked matchs.





Chalice of harmony: +30 Magic Resistance +7.5 Mana Regen per 5 sec Unique Passive: Increases your Mana Regen by 1% per 1% Mana you are missing.

Good magic resist, good mana regen, fairly cheap.
That items makes it possible to spam all of your skills all the time and skill keep good amounts of manas. It is essential for Galio in Early and Mid game.

Mercury threads: +25 Magic Resist UNIQUE Passive: Enhanced Movement 2 Reduces the duration of stuns, slows, taunts, fears, snares, sleeps, and immobilizes by 35%.

Magic resist + the CC resist, incredible item for Galio, stacks with his passive, always buy it right after Chalice. IN NO SITUATION YOU SWAP THEM FOR ANYTHING. You wont need the dodge of tabi cause it will reduce your ultimate power trough the damage bonus(based on number of attack received). Boots of swiftness and mobility are useless with his righteous gust

Guardian angel: +68 Armor +38 Magic Resistance UNIQUE Passive: Revives your Champion upon death, restoring 40% of their Health and Mana, this effect can only occur once every 5 minutes.

I personnaly always rush GA right after i get mercury, why? Because with that, Galio can be a real threat really early. It stacks with his passive and give you a good insurance policy when you just feel like charging in to use your ultimate.

Elixir of Fortitude:Click to Consume: Grants 230-400 Health and 11-28 Damage (based on champion level) for 4 minutes.

As soon as i get GA, i can tank pretty much anything, but galio will have a low health pool, so that is why i always have 1 elixir on me at all time as soon as i get GA. The low cost makes it an incredible item for a farmer such as Galio.

Sunfire Cape: +450 Health +45 Armor Passive: Deals 40 Magic Damage a second to nearby enemies.

Around 500 of health, 45 armor, 40 DPS. Incredible item for Galio, why? because when you use your ult, you taunt for 2.5 all the targets around you. 2.5 X 40 X 5 target=A LOT OF DAMAGE. Plus, it gives you a constant damage outpout even when you are not being targeted(thornail doesnt do that). DONT EVER SWAP THAT FOR THORNAIL(Unless you are facing a feeded Tryndamere or Master yi and you feel you realllllllllly need it)

Abyssal Scepter: +70 Ability Power +57 Magic Resistance UNIQUE Aura: Reduces the Magic Resist of nearby enemy champions by 20.

70 AP, 57 MR, 20 MPr; Good resist, gives around 100 AP with Galio's passive. THe magic penetration it gives makes Galio ultimate hurts like hell. The passive of the item also makes Galio ultimate hurt even more.

Banshee Veil: +450 Health +400 Mana +57 Magic Resist UNIQUE Passive: Blocks one negative spell every 30 seconds.

Health, Mana, Magic resist, plus an incredibly good passive. The passive on Banshee is a must, why? Cause it makes it harder to counter galio's ulti. Kassadin want to silence you while you are casting? BOOM HEADSHOT. Plus the Resist stacks with Galio's passive. You might want to replace Banshee by Soul Shroud for the cooldown reduction, if you feel you wont have problems landing your ultimate and that the other team caster wont be able to penetrate your defenses.

Zhonya's ring: +120 Ability Power UNIQUE Passive: Increases Ability Power by 25% UNIQUE Active: Places your champion into Stasis for 2 seconds, rendering you invulnerable and untargetable but unable to take any actions. 90 sec cooldown.

120 AP +25% more ap. With that you should be able to reach around 360 AP in a single game. That aslo means you need to sell your chalice. That makes your ulti a team killing machine. Your GA is in cooldown and all of your spells are in cooldown, or you need to delay a enemy team? POP zonya and laugh at them.


Aegis of legions; its recommended, but i dont. there's much better for Galio than this piece of F***** ****.

Thornail: Galio's ult block a certain % of the enemy dmg, and makes it unreliable. Sunfire is 10 times better for Galio than Thornail.

Those two are examples of wich items you dont need to buy.


You can always change those items order if you feel it might suit you better, but i dont recommend to wait for guardian angel, cause i garantee you that with your insane farming power, the 2.6k will come really fast. After angel, ALWAYS KEEP 3 FORT ELIXIR!!!! Elixir of fortitude. After that, see if you need more Armor, More AP, or if you have problems landing your ult, i recommend going Banshee veil. Dont ever delay the buying of Zhonya's and Abyssal scepter after mid-game, because then your damage outpout will drop, and you will have no aggro mecanism whatsoever. And in reallllllly really late game, you can trop chalice and boots for extra zhonya's or abyssal. You will still be able to charge in with righteous gust to land your ultimate.


I go health quint, cooldown seals and glyph and MPr marks for increased toughness, dps, and to be able to spam his skills more often. Feel free to use whateve you might have in stock, the health quint are fearly expensive.


It's a standard 9-0-21 caster build. I go for the 9% CdR, 15% magic penetration, the mana regen. This mastery setup will make it possible for you to spam your skill early game without fear of running out of mana before you need to recall to base for your first shopping session.

Good teammates

Gangplank, with his awesome ultimate, he can slow everyone, making it easier to take the enemy by surprise, also synergize really well with fortify.

Morgana, you drop your ult, then she drop hers, for 4-5 second the other team is incapacitated

Amumu, he drop his ult after morgana's, 7-8 second to do whatever you want with them.

Nunu, just while they are snared by Amumu, BOOM HEADSHOT!!!.

Off course that team could easily be disrupted by a lot of magic resist, banshee veil or whatnot, it's just fun to theorize it.

More seriously, i really like teaming with a rammus, right after i cut the other team in half, he just pick one with his taunt, BOOM HEADSHOT!.

Just always make sure to have different damage output. Can't afford to only have magical or your ulti will be too easy to counter, making you useless and not a primary target.


Early game:
Pick a meki pendant, 2 health pots and head to mid lane. Galio is an incredible mid-laner and you will see why. Focus on last hitting minions with Resolute smite for the first 4 levels. As soon as you get level four, you can start using your Smite+Gust combo to farm effectively. Dont try to harass the other player and dont go in melee range to hit minions. If you time your skills right and aim right, you should be able to over-farm against any character, including heimerdinger. As soon as you get around 1200g, recall. Buy your chalice, your lvl 1 boots, another 2 health pots. Teleport back to your lane. Now you can begin to harass and establish your lane control. Continue to last hit minions but you can always go for a quick harass with your Resolute smite. Now its almost time for your first kill.

With his combo, Galio can easily drop an opponent below half of his health. When that happens, and you see your opponent hugging his turret, just wait for your creep to hit his tower, pop righteous gust and then your ultimate on him. since you are not attacking him, the turret wont target you until the damage is dealt. If the enemy is not dead, Gust+smite. And if he's not dead, just use a potions while he goes crying to mommy and destroy his tower.

We are now in Mid game.


Mid game start at lvl 11 for Galio. You just killed a player and a turret, his time to make us of his ganking ability. See wich lanes needs help. Gust for moovement speed burst; Ulti, KILLLLLLLLLLL. Rinse, Repeat. With that tactic, you should be able to destroy both bottom and top towers by the start of Late game. You should now be able to afford Guardian Angel. As soon as you have GA, Late game starts for Galio.


I'm not going to describe exactly how i play him, i'm just going to give guidelines.

1. Never charges in without your team, Galio have long cooldowns and even if you are really badass, taking chances doesnt bring good results with him.

2. Dont try to kill steal with your ult, the cooldown is too big to waste it on 1 champion that would not have gotten away.

3. Tanking combo; Gust to charge in+Bulwark yourselve+ulti. Your team can pick it up from there.

4. 80% Dmg bonus from his ult, that means, always get at least 3 enemy champions with it to maximise its damage. With zonya, you can easily get 1k damage.

5. Gust is a good escape mecanism; MAKE USE OF IT to save yourself AND your team.

6. Dont forget to use bulwark. 90 Armor and Magic resist. It can save one of your team against champions such as karthus.

Thats it for now, i'm sure i'm going to add some other guidelines later on. I'm going to add better skills description. I just wanted the build published really fast to help out new Galios to perfrom. Feel free to comment, but if you vote, please add a comment. Thank you for reading this!!
