Foxy’s Epic Review

Season 4 Vayne
Presentation

Art

There's no artwork. Not a bad thing, it doesn't make your guide ugly or anything as you use a lot of coding. It would however be a major plus if you could add a banner on the top. Chapter banners are only optional, you use rules and headers for that.

It would also be pretty cool if you could put pictures of your lions/leopards/kittens/cougars next to the explanations. (Those would look best without background)

Coding

Codingwise you did a pretty neat job. You put all of your content into one chapter. This does mean that you don't have a table of contents. Try to make one. If you don't know how I can definitely help you out.

Using back to top links underneath each chapter would also come in quite handy.

There's a black space missing above your summoner spells chapter. Right now your spoiler sticks to your divider.

For your runes, I would separate the different types a bit more. Right now it's a full list which makes it harder to read/more confusing.

Your Skill Priority: It's tucked away in your last sentence. "If you prefer priority over maximize order, then here is priority: Final Hour -> Tumble -> Silver Bolts -> Condemn."
Try to make it stand out. Use big icons.

Example:

Skill Priority

> > >

Your Summoner spells: The explanation sticks to your three columns. Add another space to make it more readable.
They're also not vertically aligned. Heal sticks above the others.
You should also leave one black space underneath your icons.

Somewhere in your Laning phases chapter: "[Berserker's Greaves]]". Fix it.

Cheat Sheet

Cheat sheet seems fine. My remarks:
  • How is Statikk Shiv an offensive defensive item? Try to rethink your titles and item divisions. Statikk Shiv, for instance, is an alternative for Phantom Dancer.
  • Your "core build" lacks enchanted boots and an upgraded trinket.
  • Zephyr is an alternative to boots lategame, and for Vayne even an alternative item to your core build.
Organization

Chapters

All necessary chapters are there. I would however place your "summoner spells" under your "masteries". Right now it doesn't make sense to put that under your ability explanation.

For Skills/skill order: I would make a seperate chapter for your skill order. Call the other chapter "Abilities".

At the end, make a new chapter called "Conclusion" (or something). Your final words shouldn't be in the "other info regarding ADCs"-chapter.

Information

Introduction

  • Try to be more positive about your guide. ("and welcome to my first guide!") "and makes this guide look like poop" -> No it doesn't, you did a pretty good job there's no need to say this. If you want to credit Jhoi for her work, do it in your conclusion with a link to her guide.
  • Write more about yourself. What role do you main? What server? Moba experiences?
  • Write about Vayne. Who is she? What defines Vayne? Why should anyone play her?

Pros & Cons

  • Unmatched trading: Really?:p I can make every Vayne's life a hell with different champions.
  • "in scenarios" -> what scenarios?
  • "sometimes viCe versa" -> No. She IS easy to play/hard to master (change the vise to vice)
  • I think you need to write a text about vayne's strengths & weaknesses to explain your pros/cons

Skills/Skill Sequence

This is too concise. There's a lot of logic to your Q maxing & W second. Try to elaborate a bit and keep an overview by using different paragraphs. The language is a bit off as well. The "but otherwise" doesn't really belong there. Just rewrite this and put your mind a bit more to it.

Skill explanation is extensive and good enough. The only thing that is missing is that when you autoattack while standing against a wall, then use your Q immediately afterwards into that same wall, your autoattack will be reset.

When standing in a brush you can use your Night Hunter first, then your Tumble to sneak up on people.

Combos

Offensive poke combo: You can't really do this too much. Condemn dpeletes your mana way too fast and it would leave you vulnerable to all-ins and ganks as longs as Condemn is on cooldown. This is more for when you're quite ahead and you can focus on poking.

Offensive kill combo: Always use a basic attack before using Condemn (and Tumble) to reset your autoattack. You'll dish out more damage.

About ranges: "ACTIVE: Vayne fires a projectile at target unit, dealing physical damage and knocking the target back 470 units."

"Tumble RANGE: 300"

Don't guess those ranges. Give precise information by looking it up first. Same for your next combo.

Three phases of laning

Females: Tigress, Leopardess.

I like how you compare her to an animal growing stronger, but this makes for a lot of repititiveness. You could keep it shorter and more to the point.

" is truly a cannon late game, but that doesn't mean it's made of steel. You aren't neccesarily a glass cannon if you have Banshee's Veil or Guardian Angel, but more of leather one? Yeah, I guess so. "
-> I know you like to write things like this, but it kinda doesn't belong in a guide. Maybe you should start writing blogs?:p

Creeps

Final Hour for farming, that doesn't really make sense. I would just remove it.

I use condemn to score a minion when I have to choose between two of them who are going to die at the same time. By autoattacking and then using condemn I reset my AA and score both of the minions. This depletes your mana and leaves you vulnerable. I only use it for cannon minions when farming under the turret.

"jungling with Vayne". I don't like the choice of words. Jungling is more of a roll. I would change this to "clearing jungle camps".

Same here for resetting your autoattack. Use an Autoattack before Condemn to maximize your DPS. Stand next to a wall to reset your AA with Tumble.

Language

Although you have an extensive vocabulary, you make A LOT of spelling and grammatical errors. I'm not going to point out all of them as this would take too much of my time. Try to let somebody fix that for you.

Just a small list and grammar tips:

General rule for:

- plural: "spell shields". -> Corrected sentence: Spell Shields do not absorb Tumble's bonus damage.
- Property: "Spell shield's" (meaning: "the spell shield its").
"It is" does not equal "its". wrong example of yours: " It's power overwhelms tanks" -> Its
- Consistency: You can't mix abbreviations. For "to maximize" you use both "max" and "maximize"

Corrections:
"father" -> farther/further
"dependant" -> dependent. A dependant refers to a person. Not the action of being dependent. (To be a dependant.)
"When Tumbleing away" should be "tumbling". Rewrite it somehow :p
Viability

Item Choices

Items are pretty standard. I do feel your presentation lacks something. I'm not a fan of repititiveness and you're a bit overusing it ;) Maybe it's just me. You can try to add a full build example at the top of your items chapter.

Still not convinced about the "offensive/defensiveness of Statikk Shiv.

Mercurial Scimitar is good against Zed. It removes his Death Mark. I don't recommend it when you're behind. You will delay your powerspike. It's more of a luxury item against heavy CC comps.

Mercury's Treads -> Tenacity!

Guardian Angel has a 5 minute cooldown.

Masteries

Masteries should work. I do like Frenzy over Spell Weaving because Vayne really only has Tumble to proc it. Your preference though, I can respect that.

Why not Juggernaut over Hardiness ? It's a close call between those two though. There should be a clear calculation on it somewhere but most pros use Juggernaut .

No other remarks :)

Runes

Your runes are a bit odd. It's better to focus either on full scaling or full flat ones. As Vayne needs that early game boost for safer laning, I would take full flat defenses. (armor/magic resist)

The normal setup nowadays is

2 AS Quints / 1 armor OR 1 AD quint
9 AD Marks
Full flat HP or full armor Seals. Depends on the lane you're up against. A lot of magic poke early on: Take health.
9 flat MR Glyphs or 5 MR Glyphs and 4 AS Glyphs.

AD marks are a bit too powerful to swap them out.
Armor quints are really really strong, so are AS quints.

All and all runes don't make that much of a difference in-game. Your setup can work, but I think there's a sightly better alternative. Of course it also depends on what the opposing team picks so you can't really have one ideal page for every game.

Summoner Spells

Apart from your coding, which makes it a bit messy, you pick the right ones. You should explain better WHY you take those. Barrier over Heal? -> Because the shield is superior to the heal at all stages of the game. Downside: it only lasts for two seconds.
Try to write more stuff like that.

"only in scenarios YOU KNOW YOU WILL NEED THEM IN" -> Which scenarios? I'm new to ADC and I've never played Vayne. Tell me what scenarios I can expect and how I should react to those situations. (This counts towards all information, try to be as clear as possible)
Summary

Grade:

7/10

Not bad!

All and all you did a very good job. You explain stuff a lot of level 30s don't even know about. However, I feel you still lack some basic information. Try to get to know Vayne a little better. Some parts are a bit too confusing as well. Try to be more direct and clear.

The language is a very big issue though. It's a bit of a barrier which prevents you from sending a clear message. You should definitely ask someone to fix that for you.

Try to add some more artwork in it. Right now I feel it's a little too sober. You did a good job at coding it though!

Other than that, you should be really proud. I'm looking forward to see your next guides:)

A vote will definitely be earned upon improving the guide.

Good start!

I do advice you to archive it because, as stated at the end of the guide, it's incomplete.

Prevent downvotes by archiving it. People tend to downvote just because you published an incomplete one. I know it's hard because you're proud of your work, but it's for the best.

Upvotes will flood when you offer a finished product. (You can re-publish it when you're finished, don't worry!)

Best of luck and keep going,

Foxy
