Yorick is one of the best splitpushers in the game right now and excels at dueling people and taking turrets with the help of his ghouls and his Maiden.

If you like splitpush champions or champions that can summon things to help them fight then you'll like Yorick, in my case I was a huge fan of Illaoi and I have fallen in love with playing Yorick now.

Pros
Cons
+ Great Splitpushing.
+ Great dueling (with maiden summoned).
+ Very strong mid and late game.
+ Decent Sustain
+ Can get beefy/tanky while still having a lot of damage.
+ Can solo Herald/dragon easily with maiden summoned. Also can duo Baron with most junglers pretty quickly.
+ Doesn't have Mana issues.
- Early game can be rough in a lot of matchups.
- Can get kited easily.
- Low mobility.
- Can be weak without ghouls or maiden summoned.

Basic attacks or spells that deal damage to an enemy champion grant 2 stacks of Conqueror for 8s, gaining 2-5 Adaptive Force per stack. Stacks up to 10 times. Ranged champions gain only 1 stack per basic attack.

When fully stacked, heal for 15% of the damage you deal to champions.

This rune is great on Yorick because it is very easy to stack up,since your ghouls give you a stack, and on top of this your auto attacks and abilities also grant 2 stacks so it's very easy to stack on Yorick and increases our healing by a lot once fully stacked.

Champion Damage rating takedowns, after a 1-second delay, restore 12% of your missing health and grant an additional Gold 20.

The heal from this rune is great and can be clutch for 1v2's or 2v2's top lane, it also helps a lot in teamfights.

Gain 3% (+ 1.5% per Legend stack) bonus Attack speed icon attack speed, up to 18% with 10 stacks.

I take this rune because I think the attack speed is to valuable for taking turrets as well as pushing waves and dueling, with that being said if they have a lot of CC then you can definitely go Legend: Tenacity

Deal 7% increased damage to champions below 40% maximum health. Additionally, you gain 9 bonus Attack Damage or 15 Ability Power (Adaptive) for 10 seconds whenever you score a champion Damage rating takedown. This bonus does not stack.

Not to much to say about this rune it's just extra damage against lower health targets which is nice.

- Resolve -

After 10 minutes, gain Armor icon 9 bonus armor and Magic resistance icon 9 bonus magic resistance and increases your total armor and magic resistance by 5%.

Conditioning is great on Yorick because he loses a lot of matchups top lane during the laning phase, so since you should be playing safe in most matchups this extra scaling is a big help, another reason I like this rune is because my first two items are and which offer no resistances so this rune is a great help.

Every 8 monsters or enemy minions that die near you permanently grants 3 bonus health.
After gaining 15 stacks (120 monsters or minions), you gain an additional 3.5% maximum health.

Another scaling rune since like I said with Conditioning Yorick struggles in a lot of matchups so you aren't trying to win early most of the time, this rune is actually great value because Yorick's ghouls also scale off your max HP.

Flash: This spell is kind of a "must" on most champions, and the same goes for YorickSince he has no mobility you'll want this summoner every game.

Teleport: I like teleport over ignite on top lane because it allows you to split or join a team fight and it also helps with lane if you get too low you can just recall and Teleport back. Another key thing to note is if you Teleport with your ghouls or Maiden summoned they will Teleport with you.

Passive: Shepherd of Souls

The Cursed Horde: Yorick can have up to 4 Mist Walkers in an area. Mist Walkers will perish if they move too far away from Yorick or the Maiden of the Mist

Final Service: Every few enemy that dies near Yorick will leave a grave. Enemy champions will always leave a grave. Enemy Deaths till Grave: 12 / 6 / 2 at levels 1/7/13

Q: Last Rites

Yorick's next basic attack deals physical damage and restores Health (double below half Health). Last Rites will leave a grave if it kills the target.

When there are three or more graves nearby and Last Rites has been used, Yorick can cast Awakening.png Awakening to raise Mist Walkers from graves.

You want to be last hitting minions with this ability a lot since it leaves the grave behind but it is also good sustain and low mana cost, also keep in mind that this ability is an auto reset. Also keep in mind a lot of the time it is worth it to wait for a 4th grave before using the summon cast on this ability.

W: Dark Procession

Yorick summons a destructible wall of spirits around target area for 4 seconds. Allies can walk through the wall freely.

This ability is great against targets that can't escape it like Nasus or Darius for example since you can trap then in and then make it very easy to land your Mourning Mist. If you're against a target that escape this ability then don't bother using it most of the time because the mana cost is quite high, only use it if they used their mobility ability already.

Another thing to keep in mind with this ability is it can be used to block pathways instead of trapping people.

E: Mourning Mist

Yorick throws a globule of Black Mist that deals [+15% enemy's current] as magic damage, slows by 30% for 2 seconds, and marks targets for 4 seconds. Yorick and his minions are hasted by 20% while moving toward the mark.

A lot of the time you'll want to use this ability before you summon your ghouls or right as you're summoning them to catch you enemy off guard, as long as they're marked your ghouls will still jump on them.

R: Eulogy of the Isles

Yorick summons The Maiden of the Mist and some Mist Walkers. The Maiden has Health, deals magic damage per second, and raises Mist Walkers from nearby enemy deaths.

When Yorick damages the Maiden's target he will deal bonus magic damage.

This ability is what makes Yorick so insane in my opinion, the maiden follows you around within 600 range and you want to try to keep it alive for as long you can, another awesome thing is the maiden can actually heal in the fountain base with you, when pushing towers sometimes you will have to suicide the maiden if you want platings, the only tip I can give for this is to try to wait for a cannon minion wave because the cannon minion will tank the turret before your Maiden, also your ghouls have priority of the turret as well. Another thing to keep in mind is when minions die near the maiden they will summon a mist walker which is a ton of constant pressure, sometimes you will want to E to throw the mist walkers at them but you also want to pull back the maiden doesn't suicide into the turret since it will also target whoever is marked. Keep in mind while the maiden is summoned you can easily solo the Rift Herald as well as tax the enemy jungler by taking his camps after you push in the waves, should you run into the jungler then you should be able to duel him quite easily as long as you have your maiden out and are somewhat healthy.

The maiden will always follow you unless you press R again then it will push the nearest sidelane until it dies, you almost always want to keep it following you.

Against champions that have cannot escape your W for example Vladimir you should go for maxxing it second because the HP on the wall goes up making it take extremely long to kill so they're trapped for so long.

3/14/15/17/18

2/8/10/12/13

6/11/16
You will want to max your Q into E into W against champions that can escape your W easily, you can even skill W at level 4 if you want to put extra points into your Q early if your W is truely useless against the enemy champion, the only benefit to having your W level 3 is if you think you could possibly get ganked it can be nice to trap the jungler or black him from getting onto you.

Starting items

Corrupting Potion This is my usual start on Yorick because it gives you a ton of extra sustain in not only health but mana as well which allows you to always be able to Q in the lane for even more sustain. If you're against a champion with heavy poke like Pantheon or Jayce then you should opt for a Doran's Shield.

Situational Item: Doran's Shield
If you're against a champion with heavy poke like Pantheon or Jayce then you should opt for a Doran's Shield.

First back buy

Phage I always try to get Phage on my first back with Yorick because the stats are great for surviving the early game, if you have a lot of kill pressure go for a Sheen instead.

Boots

Ninja Tabi Usually I upgrade my boots while I'm building into Trinity Force because that item takes a long time, usually you'll want Ninja Tabi if you're against an AD champion and especially if you're against a splitpusher. if they have a lot of AP or a lot of CC and you think you'll be grouping for teamfights often then you should go Mercury's Treads instead.

Situational Item: Mercury's Treads
if they have a lot of AP or a lot of CC and you think you'll be grouping for teamfights often then you should go Mercury's Treads instead.

Full build explanation

Trinity Force This item really gives Yorick everything he needs, the attack speed helps with taking turrets and dueling, Your Q becomes a lot stronger because of the Sheen and the Phage allows you to stick onto targets better, not to mention the cdr and health, once you have this item you should be destroying turrets and able to duel anyone as long as you're not too far behind and have your Maiden summoned.

Situational Item: Black Cleaver+ Iceborn Gauntlet
I have these two items together because if you aren't going for the Trinity Force then you should build both of these together, basically this is a way safer build but much less damage, it can help if you're learning the champion against harder matchups such as Irelia this build also seems decent if you're grouping a lot on Yorick rather then splitpushing in my testing, your ghouls also stack and benefit from Black Cleaver but sadly your maiden does not since it deals magic damage.

This item is great because it gives us more health and damage as well as a shield and tenacity which are all great things on Yorick basically this item just beefs us up a bit, and health is great on Yorick since your maidens hp scales off your max HP. Sterak's Gage

Death's Dance This item is a great alternative to Titanic Hydra if you're playing well, the only thing I don't like about this item is it seems really hard to build if you're slightly behind in the game, and it also doesn't give any HP which means it doesn't make our maiden tankier, but I do recommend buying it in place of Titanic Hydra if you're doing well.

Situational Item: Titanic Hydra
This item is strong on Yorick because it helps his waveclear even more which allows him to splitpush faster and this item can also be used as an auto reset which is really strong in dueling, it's also going to give us more HP which makes us as well as our maiden more beefy. If you're pretty fed at this point then you should go for Death's Dance instead.

At this point you'll want to start buying some resistances because you already have so much HP and damage, Randuins in most games especially if they have a crit adc or somebody like Tryndamere. or Yasuo. Also don't forget this item has an active which can be great for sticking to targets, if you really need the grievous wounds or they don't have a champion building any crit then you should opt for an Thornmail instead.

Situational Item: Thornmail
If you or your team needs grevious wounds or if they don't have anyone building crit, Thornmail is definitely viable over Randuin's Omen.
Randuin's Omen

Spirit Visage This is a good last item usually because it increases your heal from your Q and gives us good stats, this item is also great if you build Death's Dance often because it will make your healing insane. if they have a lot of mages that have very spammable abilities like for example Cassiopeia or Rumble then you should opt for an Adaptive Helm instead.

Situational Item: Adaptive Helm
if they have a lot of mages that have very spammable abilities like for example Cassiopeia or Rumble instead of Spirit Visage.

Other situational items

Zz'Rot Portal This item is viable if you're going full on splitpush and want to take turrets faster, the movement speed near turrets is also very nice on Yorick but I think this item is highly situational depending on your gameplan, and again it offers no health which kind of sucks for Yorick.

Yorick is not very strong in the very early laning phase but he can survive it fairly easily, you want to be using your Q to last hit creeps so you can get graves to summon your ghouls, it's a good idea to trade when you have your ghouls out especially if you can hit your E on the enemy champion, I should also mention you can throw your E before you summon the ghouls or right as you summon them and as long as they're still marked your ghouls will jump on them, this is usually a good thing to do to surprise your enemy.

Usually on my first back I try to go for a or if it's a matchup that I can kill, usually if it's a champion that cannot escape your W then you should have kill pressure as long as you have your maiden out.

With Yorick in my expierence you don't need to super snowball lane to be a strong threat to the game so you should really focus on farming and waiting for the enemy to fight you or step out of position when you have your minions summoned. Yorick will beat almost every champion except for like Jax once you get your items and have your minions summoned.

Another really important thing with Yorick in laning phase is summoning your maiden , a lot of the time you'll want to just summon it for pressure but that means it will also push the wave, and you want to make sure you don't suicide it to the turret by making it follow you and pulling it away, you should also have ghouls out since when minions die near the maiden they get summoned so a lot of the time the jungler can't gank you or you can 1v2, eventually your laner will have to back and you can usually get a few platings do not be afraid to suicide maiden at this point if you're going for turret damage, but ideally you want it to be on a cannon wave because the turret will priotize the cannon minion before your maiden, you can also use your W
to make the turret target that before your maiden as well.

Another thing to keep in mind during laning phase with Yorick is your maiden heals in fountain as well so if you're trying to keep it alive you can recall heal it up and Teleport back

Yorick can also take the rift herald pretty quickly if you have your ghouls and maiden summoned, you can do this after you push in a wave preferable cannon wave so it takes them longer to clear, make sure to tank the rift herald so it doesn't hit your ghouls or maiden because they are a lot of your DPS, it's also a very wise idea to have a Control Ward placed before you do this just incase and make sure the rift scuttler isn't spawning soon or spawned because the enemy jungler could be coming to get that and run into you.

Yorick is one of the best splitpushers in the game because of how fast he can take turrets with help of his ghouls and maiden as well as being able to Q towers so taking turrets and drawing pressure should be your main focus on Yorick each game is a different scenario but you basically want to pressure the opposite side of what your team is trying to get, so for example if baron nashor is up you want to be splitting the bot lane and drawing pressure, you have to be careful while splitpushing though and pay attention closely to your minimap and register who is on it and where they last were because you want to back off if multiple people are coming for you.

If you have all of your minions and maiden summoned do not be afraid to dive the enemy laner under turret if you are able to hit your E, also in a lot of cases you are going to be able to 1v2 if they only send one person for you, but you'll have to use your judgement for this depending on the game.

Also don't forget in some cases while splitpushing to be looking for a Teleport play because your maiden will Teleport with you, if you can't dive the enemy under turret looking for a Teleport play can be a better option.

the best tip I can give for splitpushing with Yorick is to always have your maiden summoned this thing is basically like a second champion and allows you to pressure insanely hard as well as summon more ghouls on minion waves easily which makes you way more powerful, if your maiden is on cooldown then you should be playing way safer until it is up since it is what makes Yorick so broken.

As well as being a good splitpusher Yorick also does decent in teamfights, the only problem is he can get kited and CC'd a lot in teamfights which can make it hard to get to targets, if you're teamfighting on Yorick it is a must to have your maiden summoned since it is like another champion, other then that you should try to look to W targets that are not able to escape it, and also be looking to E champions that are CC'd for a free hit and preferably you want to land this on squishy champions so your maiden and ghouls will target them.

Also if there is a dance off before the teamfight and you already have your maiden summoned make sure you don't throw out an E for poke because then your maiden will go run into the enemy team and they'll just kill it.

Your main focus should really be playing around your team in teamfights because Yorick has the damage to do well in teamfights he just doesn't have the engage so if somebody else can engage and you can play around your team he can still be deadly in teamfights.

Your W can be used to knock off rift scuttler armor and magic resist by making the wall spawn on top of it counting as a knock up or knock aside, this can also be used to cancel channels like Teleport or something like Sion Q where he has to channel and it will also give you an assist if it happens in a teamfight even if you don't do damage.

Your Q still heals you when used on wards and plants.

Your maiden heals in fountain and also gains the homegaurd effect at 20 minutes, it also teleports with you when you Teleport somewhere.

Leveling up your W actually gives it more HP making maxing it viable to max second against matchups that are immobile and unable to escape from your W .

Remember your W can be used to block certain pathways causing an enemy champion to have to pass over two walls if they want to get over.

Thank you so much for reading my Yorick guide, I hope the info can still help you guys learn this awesome champion. I play a lot of Yorick and stream daily right now so if you ever want to drop by and see Yorick gameplay or ask me questions if I didn't cover something in depth here then be sure to check out my stream.
