Although Heimerdinger may initially look like an unorthodox support pick, with the new increase in gold income due to the season 4 changes he is able to get enough items to become a large magical damage threat, whilst still providing the large utility of the CH-1 Electron Storm Grenade empowered by his .

Heimerdinger as a support provides a strong objective game, pressuring the bot lane tower with constant pushing and poking, whilst also allowing with very early dragons due to his providing high dps.
