Introduction
Runes are a standard assassin rune set.
Pretty self-explanatory
Reds- flat armor pen (best in slot)
Yellow- flat armor (because you will be in top lane, you will most likely be going against ad champs, this will help you greatly)
Blue- Magic resist per level (Late/mid game this will be very useful for you, making sure no pesky annies can one hit you)

With these masteries, you will start off with almost 700 health if you buy also a dorans shield (for an assassin that is a large amount) and you will still be able to retain the offensive capabilities of an assassin (this is what makes Irelia a scary laning opponent). It is important to get 21 in defensive as juggernaut is just a beast mastery as is works with your passive and will make you the agile champion you are meant to be.
You want to start off with aDorans shield as it gives you very early tanky traits, you can start off with boots and health pots but your W's passive will ensure you have great sustain. Try to recall only when you reach 1400 gold, with this you can get and a , use the rest of your gold to buy a couple of health pots.

Farming is very important for Irelia, do not forget your last hits, if you cant reach a minion, use your Q as it refunds some mana and resets the cooldown if you get a kill. If you don't think much of farming, let me put this in perspective, 3 waves of minions will be more gold than a kill, REMEMBER TO FARM!
