Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Welcome to my Irelia build guide. This guide is still under construction, and will take some time to complete due to the recent changes in masteries.
However, feel free to read trough the guide. Feedback are greatly appreciated, both positive and negative.
Marks - I find tho only viable Marks on most champs are armorpen./magicpen., so with Irelia i chose flat armor penetration marks.
Quints - Flat armor. Consider manaregen if you are having mana problems early game.
Glyphs - Flat magic resist glyphs. Don't bother trying anything else.
Quints - Movementspeed quints works great in combination with the movement speed from FoN anf TF. Not even ghost can save the enemies when you are chasing them.
After the changes in the rune page i went from a 0/21/9, to a 0/22/8 mastery page. This is not a final solution. Will update this soon.
Start of with a Regrowth Pendant and a healt potion. As soon as you have around 1600-1700g, bluepill back and get Philostone and a Heart of Gold, plus boots. Get some healthpots and a ward or two if the enemy team have a jungler. Tp back.
Now with your manaproblems out of the way, use your Bladesurge to farm like a madman and harass the enemy. Your main objective now is to get the Trinity Force as soon as possible. Once you have it you'll become a major threat on the battlefield.
Be aware of what the enemy team is building. If they're ad carries are getting fed you should buy the Giant's Belt before Force of Nature. Or you may switch this with a Frozen Heart if they rely heavy on attack speed.
In teamfights, you're main goal is to attract as much attention to you as possible, and create anough chaos to split up the enemy team. If your team have a tank, you should wait until he initiates the fight. If not it is your job to initiate, since you are the offtank. Run toward the enemy team while blasting your ulti at them. try to get as much focus as possible. If they exhaust you or cc you in any way, good. They just wasted an ability on you, and your passive lower the effect on cc.
When in the midst of battle, aim for the weaker ranged carries in the back, like Caitlyn or Ashe. Bladesurge too them and stun them with your e. IF they are fleeing keep on chasing, since nothing can outrun you, but know when you should fall back. By now your team should have taken out 2-3 of the enemies. IF some of youre teammates are getting low on health and are being chased, try your best to save them by slowing/stunning the chasers.
Max out your q first, since this is a great farming tool good too haras the enemy. Get a point in e second if you are getting low on health, and the enemy decides to turretdive you.
Flash is mandatory, because of its usefullness in so many situations. I use teleport as my second summoner spell, since it keeps me in lane and is great lategame to split push towers.
Other spells to consider may be exhaust or ignite. If your team lack cc get exhaust. I've seen many use clarity on Irelia, but if played right you shouldn't need it.
