Jarvan IV: The in and out hybrid
Solid build. 26 in Offense is a bit superfluous, but that's your prerogative. I feel you put too much emphasis on CDR. HP or ArPen quints would be better, IMO, and you could drop Seals for flat armor and glyphs for magic res. You really will only have mana issues early game.
True. But what I've noticed is that eventhough I keep track of my Flash CD it sometimes happens to me that I dive in with DragonStrike+DamacianStandard and it's still on CD. Then I proceed with trapping them with my ult. What happens then is that I have no way out but to lower Cataclysm again.
In that case the CDR is vital. Because if you lower Cataclysm your opponents are also out of the trap. The CDR helps avoid that becuse you get DragonStrike+DamacianStandard available again in about 5.5 secs total.
About the mana problem. Yes thats true. But I feel like early-game is the most important phase of the game. If you're low on mana then you'll have to fall back because you can't scare your opponents with your skills. Also you'd have to make a choice. Go back to base to replenish(and use teleport to get back quick since otherwise you lose lots of EXP and potential G) or you stay and wait for it to regen. Without the runes it'll take a lot longer to replenish.
Ofcourse you could take Clarity as a spell to solve it. But that spell becomes useless mid to late-game and you have to sacrifice Teleport. Which I feel is a better spell because of the map-control it offers.
If you feel you need 40% CDR, you could sub Frozen Heart for Banshee's Veil. BV is nice and all, and the blocked spell proc is really nice, but FH gives 20% CDR and a TON of mana and armor. Maybe try it if you're fighting an AD heavy team to kind of test it, but it's a core item on my Jarvan builds and only replace it if there's only one AD champion.
This is a good alternative. I'll place this in the build as a possible replacement for BV. You could switch them if the other team is mostly AD or MD.
