Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Jax can absolutely decimate enemies in 3v3. Though he is no longer OP early game, he is (in my opinion) the best champion at lvl 16. If you farm up correctly (solo top lane, utilizing the jungle when minions are too close to opponents turrets, making you a desirable gank target), don't die needlessly I've had quite a bit of success with this build.
This is an AP Jax build. With this build, you should have no problem winning most of your games.
I go with Armor Penetration (more melee damage), Dodge (Jax's defining trait), and Armor (extra bit of defense).
Other choices can work too, but I think this is a great rune lineup for Jax.
You'll be doing plenty of damage. There comes a point where you need to decide whether or not you wanna be a reliably offensive monster with appropriate defense, or just a glass cannon. In my opinion, Jax does not have enough survivability without defense masteries (and armor runes). He does have leap strike to get away, but if you're anything like I am, I would rather stay in the fight constantly spamming my E hoping to get some clutch stuns and a cool looking 3v1 slaughter.
AP build. Your core items are your dodge boots, rageblade, and gunblade (in that order!!). Depending on how the game is going at the time, you can choose whether to continue your AP damage build (lich bane, rabadons), or get some armor, or get some magic resistance.
Exhaust and Flash fo sho.
I dont particularly care for ignite. If you can keep your opponent within whacking distance for about 2 seconds, you would have already done the amount of damage ignite would have done. Exhaust will lower their armor, attack and movement speed. This gives you the upper hand, which means you'll undoubtably win in a 1v1. When 2v1ing as Jax, Exhaust the one that would do the most amount of damage to you.
If you're in a pinch, better to flash out than to ghost. Flash + leap strike to minion when you're at 15hp = opponent team QQ.
The best case scenario you can have is if 1 or 2 (or all 3, depending if your fed enough) jump on you while you have your ultimate and rageblade fully charged. You will laugh at how fast you melt through EVERYONE.
In legit team fights, don't initiate if you can help it. You do much more damage if you've been fighting for longer. Letting your tank (or noob squishy) initiate a fight will give you more time to charge your ult and rageblade, making you even more deadly.
Jax is OP. Don't forget to constantly farm, use that jungle when creeps are too far away to safely farm. Get those last hits. Enjoy winning.
