Jax - Grandmaster at Arms

It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax, for whom the argument could be made that he is the most prolific tournament fighter currently at the Institute of War. Before joining the League, Jax was an unremarkable soldier-for-hire. For reasons known only to the former leader of the League, High Councilor Reginald Ashram, Jax was put on the top of the list of candidates to receive a League Judgment - the interview process that either accepts or rejects a prospective champion. His Judgment was the quickest in League history, where the Doors of Acceptance glowed and slowly swung open as soon as it began. Jax faced no recorded Observation or Reflection during his Judgment.

Jax proved himself to be an immediate terror in the Fields of Justice. The self-proclaimed ''Armsmaster of the League'' rattled off a streak of consecutive wins that to this day has not been matched. A number of summoners in the League grew concerned that the perceived objectivity of the League of Legends would be questioned by the presence of an unknown fighter who was unbeatable. For this reason, the new leader of the League (following Reginald Ashram's disappearance), High Councilor Heyward Relivash, created special restrictions for Jax to fight under. This was something the League had never done before, and something that has never been done since. The burly fighter responded by imposing his own special conditions; as a means of protest, he permitted himself to fight using only a brass lamppost. Neither the League's sanctions nor his own has affected his winning ways. The League has since rescinded its sanctions, but Jax has not; he fights and fights well with his trusty brass lamppost.

Introduction

Hello, I am NBCyrus and this is my first guide to one of the most OP builds for Jax. After the patch on January 17th 2012, Jax's E now dodges regular attacks for a short period of time. This got me to play Jax once again and as I played my first couple matches, I came up with a very strong build that I believe makes you pretty much unstoppable. I go for a full AD build for Jax because I think Jax would be much stronger as full AD than hybrid.

Items

This build that I came up with will most likely make you the tank of the team. Although the damage may not be as great as a DPS built Jax, if you were to 1v1 against him you would most likely win. The reason for this is because of the Attack Damage runes. In this item build, you lack AD, however the runes will indeed make up for it.

1. Start off with a Doran's Blade.

2. Get Ninja Tabi next.

3. Get a Vampiric Sceptre.

4. For attack speed, get a phantom dancer.

5. Then buy a Frozen mallet. If you don't have enough gold, get a Giant's Belt first.

6. Now you buy a Bloodthirster.

7. To have a greater chance to live, I would go for a guardian angel. (After you revive on the spot, leap strike to the nearest minion/ward to escape)

8. Now when you have over 2750 Gold, go sell your Doran's Blade and get a Warmog.

You are pretty much unstoppable at this point in the game mainly because of how tanky you will become with this full build.

Tips

FARMING!!!

Inorder for this build to be effective, you need to get the items asap which means farming is one of the key things you should do early/mid game so you don't struggle in team fights.

When to turret dive?

No matter how low your enemies hp is, NEVER turret dive without having the Frozen Mallet. For obvious reasons, you will most likely die within a few hits and not even being able to chase after him/her. Recommended level to dive: 11+ (after leveling your ulti to 2).

Get Blue as Often as Possible

After the patch, Jax's mp cost for his skills has increased which means he will run out of mp a lot faster. But with the help of blue, you can pretty much lane a lot longer without worrying about your mp.

and finally...PLAY SMART

As i have said, Jax is really squishy in early game, so try to avoid going too aggressive because minions can take you down really easily which may cause you to lose a lot of hp or even death.

In mid/late game, try to switch lanes once in a while and help out your team mates gank. After getting a couple kills, go jungle for a bit which may help you level a bit faster.

Conclusion

That is pretty much all there is to it. As long as you don't feed and you contantly farm, you will be fine. Jax is very squishy in early game, however in late game he is absolutely deadly and can obliterate the enemy easily with a decent team. Thanks for reading my guide and I hope this helped!
