Jayce is a champion whos itemization can be swapped out for other items depending on what you need. You can also change The Black Cleaver to be your 2nd item instead of 4th if you wish.
I recommend taking Teleport because it gives you global map pressure. This summoner spell allows you to help other lanes, get back to lane quicker or even used to escape. I recommend using teleport on your first back, then saving it to help counter gank lanes.
I do not recommend taking Ignite (Only In Mid) or Exhaust, however you can if you wish. If you are comfortable in killing your enemy laner then you can take either one. You will be missing out on the global map pressure but you will have dominance over enemies who take Teleport.
Your main job is to farm up and try to deny the enemy as much as possible, your abilities deal lots of damage and you have a lot of burst as well. Make sure to abuse this. Remember that Jayce’s abilities cost can be quiet high and that does add up when you for a combo. If you have your level peaks and enough mana you can go for a greedy combo and try to burst the enemy down. W+Q+E+R+Q+E is an example combo.
Jayce isn’t good in team fights…….Well. Not exactly bad, he just can’t straight fight 5v5. Your job is to poke as much as possible before the game starts. You can use your Q+E / E + Q Combo and poke them down as much as possible. Your job is just to keep poking and trying to get the enemy low before going for a fight. Remember, do not go out of mana and keep enough up for your other abilities.
Jayce is very good at taking down towers. You want to rotate around the map and start taking the towers. If your team is grouped mid, you should look to split push and be prepared to Teleport and help your team. Always watch the map when you’re split pushing.
In the final stages of the game Jayce will fall off. In fights, like before-you need to poke down the enemies and catch the squishies. You can easily win the game by a few good poke opportunities.
