Kassadin, The Evil Void Walker
Kassadin is one of the strongest nukers due to his high burst damage and his insane mobility. He was made to counter casters, for example with Void Stone and Null Sphere.
+High burst damage

Void StoneKassadin takes 15% reduced damage from abilities and transforms this damage into bonus attack speed.
Null SphereKassadin fires a void bolt dealing 80-280 (+0.7 per ability power) magic damage and silencing the target for 1-2.6 seconds.
80/130/180/230/280 (+0.7 per ability power)
Nether BladePassive: Kassadin's melee attacks draw energy from the void, restoring 4-20 mana each hit. If this effect is triggered from attacking a champion the amount of mana restored is tripled.
Active: Kassadin charges his nether blade, gaining 7-50 armor penetration for 5 seconds.
Force PulseKassadin draws energy from spells cast in his vicinity, gaining a charge whenever a spell is cast near him. Upon reaching 6 charges, Kassadin can use Force Pulse to deal 60-300 (+0.8 per ability power) magic damage and slow enemies by 30-50% in a cone in front of him for 3 seconds.

Movement Speed Reduction
RiftwalkKassadin teleports to a nearby location dealing 60-120 (+0.4 per ability power) magic damage to surrounding enemy units. Additionally, each subsequent Riftwalk in the next 7 seconds costs 100 additional mana and deals 60-120 additional damage.

Ignite - Makes you able to get some early kills.
Cleanse - Makes you able to escape ganks even if stunned/rooted.
Masteries & Runes
We'll use a typical caster mastery build. We'll get 21 points in the Utiliy and 9 points in Offense.
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration - Magic Penetration
Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration - Manaregen per Lvl
Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction - Cooldownreduction per Lvl
Greater Quintessence of Health - Health
It's an ordinary Caster-Runebuild.
Catalyst the Protector ||| |||
Start off with buying a Doran's Ring 'cause we want to be able to harass with Null Sphere.
At your first return to base, you should purchase at least Boots of Speed and Sapphire Crystal, if not the whole Catalyst the Protector.
Build Tear of the Goddess and Sorcerer's Shoes next.
The following itemorder is situational.
If doing well, go Zhonya's Ring -> Archangel's Staff -> Deathfire Grasp -> Abyssal Mask -> Banshee's Veil.
If not, go Abyssal Mask -> Banshee's Veil -> Archangel's Staff -> Deathfire Grasp -> Zhonya's Ring.
It has almost everything you want: health mana regen and ability power.
The Magic Penetration is really nice.
Catalyst the Protector
The health and mana are nice, but the passive is awesome early/mid.
Tear of the Goddess
This will solve you mana problems. Everytime you cast a spell you'll gain 4 mana (caps at 1000 mana).
It has plenty of ability power itself and a unique abilitypower-increasing passive. Use the active to escape dangerous situations.
It has 15% CDR, ability power and mana regeneration. You will have 40% CDR @ Lvl 18 with this and Elixir of Brilliance.
It will reduce the opponent's magic restistance for your team. It will give you As a bonus you will gain magic resistance and ability power.
You'll convert all your large mana pool into ability power. Stacks with Zhonya's Ring's passive.
You'll get health, magic resist and the spell blocking bubble. You can do a lot of stuff knowing you have that bubble up.
Elixir of Brilliance
Use it for 10% CDR and increased ability power whenever you feel you need it.
General Gameplay Tips
- Burst down casters and carries
- Position yourself correctly with Riftwalk
- Stay with your team
- Push in the right situations
- Be aware of the map - let the minimap and sight wards help you
Your main goal should be to stay alive. You are one of the weakest champions without Riftwalk. When you get your Riftwalk, you can get more agressive. But don't overdo it. A underleveled Kassadin is almost useless in the next phase.
Use Null Sphere to lasthit minions and to harass your opponents.
Use Force Pulse to go in for the kill and to save teammates.
Use Riftwalk to position yourself correctly, to go in for the kill and to escape ganks.
After Laning Phase
You were mad to counter casters. You have to burst 'em down. Positioning and overview are very important because you have to conider all your actions. Don't get cocky.
Use Null Sphere to interrupt channeled spells (Nunus Ultimate...), to silence casters and to deal the killing blow.
Use Nether Blade to get Force Pulse stacks or to destroy towers.
Use Force Pulse to go in for the kill, AOE-Damage the opponents and to save teammates.
Use Riftwalk to position yourself correctly, to go in for the kill and to escape dangerous situations.
Use Zhonya's Ring's active to let Riftwalk come up again.
