Why hello there, I'm SeaMau5 and this is my Udyr guide. To put it simply, in the current meta-game, Udyr is a very strong and versatile pick in both solo queue and draft pick. In this respect, versatility also brings about the notion of complexity. There is no set path in which to build Udyr; it all depends on what you and your team needs. This guide is not meant to explain the inner mechanics of Udyr in-depth. There are much better guides out there that will do a much better job. The purpose of this guide is to provide basic insight and a glimpse of the play-style and role of Udyr and the things that he brings to a team.

I mainly play Udyr as a jungler. Outside the jungle, he is a tanky DPS and as well as a disruptor. If need be, he can be a tanky initiator. Put more emphasis on survivability items while modestly investing in damage items here and there so that you can take punishment while still being a threat to the other team.

As a jungler, you are responsible for all three lanes. With Phoenix stance, you can clear camps at unprecedented speeds and will therefore have sizable lee-way to camp lanes to a reasonable extent. I usually begin to gank at level 4 with tier 1 boots and 1 point in Bear Stance. Bear Stance ganks with Lizard buff are extremely strong; with a competent teammate with CC, an enemy that is slightly over-extended over the river will usually result in a kill.
