Dr. Mundo Build
Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Well rounded Mundo build.
My intentions with this build are to find a way to round Mundo off, and fill in his gaps/deficits in order to make all of his abilities useful. I also like being able to be effective in many scenarios so that my play style can more easily effect the outcome of a fight, rather than my gear. The order you build these items in is optional depending on what you need at the time.
So far, I haven't been able to find any better, and more aggressive enabling starts with items than I do with the Doran's Shield and a pot.
Sunfire Cape coupled with building up Burning Agony early game is great for farming and pushing hard. So far, it's my favorite item to start with after the shield and pot.
I chose Ninja Tabi next strictly for the dodge. This choice is very situational and good against melee. If I'm having a lot of Crowd Control against me, then I go for the Mercury's Treads, and in the rare case I just feel like I'm way too slow (for example: laning against a Master Yi); I will choose the Boots of Swiftness.
Nashor's Tooth grants 25% Cooldown Reduction. For Mundo, the more you can spam your ultimate and Infected Cleaver, the more effectively you can harass from range, and stay in your lane. You also get 50% attack speed which ultimately helps against close range targets, and 55 AP which helps your Burning Agony a little. (I believe that BA adds damage = 20% of your AP so that's basically 11 dps extra close range).
I choose Spirit Visage next because it gives me 12% Cooldown Reduction. That, plus the 25% from Nashor's Tooth, plus 2% from my Utility tree leaves me at 39% Cooldown Reduction. As far as I have read, 40% is the cap. Spirit Visage is a beautiful cheap item for Mundo due to the addition of 200 HP, 30 Magic Resist, and the 20% increased healing and regeneration effects on Mundo! Wow!
At this point in the game, even if you are being fed, team fights are inevitable, and Mundo is a big, purple target. Also, even though Mundo is not a straight up tank, he neeeeeeds health!! Thus, I go with Warmog's Armor to give him a big boost in health, and some more HP regen.
I have not yet had the opportunity to play with the final item on this build as I push towers like crazy! Though I would suggest choosing Force of Nature OR Atma's Impaler depending on what you feel like you need for your play style, and what type of situation you're in. If you feel you need more damage, Atma's all the way. If you need to move around faster, and are facing a lot of squishy casters; go for Force of Nature, as it has that beefy 76 Magic Resist.
I hope you enjoy this build as much as I have!
