Greater Mark of Desolation

I use Armor Penetration marks for the extra oomph on your damage early on. Sheen does physical damage as well, so it's even better.

Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration

I use mana regen per level because for me I seem to never get blue buff. If you're in a premade where you can ask for blue buff often, I would use flat armor, flat mana regen, or health per level.

Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction

I use cooldown reduction per level because in the beginning, low cooldowns won't help as much because your mana is what needs to be managed early, not cooldowns. Most items won't give cooldown reduction for Gangplank so having more late game with celerity/blue buff will max you out.

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed
If you crave the speed, use these. Gangplank loves the early game speed from these. My personal preference.

Greater Quintessence of Desolation
If you want more early game poke, use these. Gangplank benefits heavily from extra Armor Penetration.

Greater Quintessence of Health
If you need survivability, use these. Gangplank can be squishy but it shouldn't matter much so this is my third favorite choice.

I use 14/0/16 because Gangplank needs the cooldown reduction, armor penetration, and damage out of the offensive for early game. I personally don't like 21/0/9 because it doesn't get Gangplank his much needed mana regen increase, buff duration, and movement speed.

Build Order

Gives you the mana to last hit with your Q as well as sustain from the potions. Builds into many starting items as well.

First Back:
If you feel you're pushing your enemy out and harassing them to the point of tower hugging, push the advantage and Sheen it up. Otherwise, tear.

Second Back:

Buy what you have money for. If you can get the cdr boots and Manamune, you're golden.

Third Back:
If you need the lifesteal, get a Vampiric Scepter instead of a zeal. Could be sold later on or alternatively made into a Bloodthirster. Don't forget wards.

You should have:

You should have:

Sell boots for another Phantom Dancer if the money is there.

Summoner Spells

Ghost and Flash give you the mobility and survivability you need. I would only consider the following as replacements.
