Introduction
Here's a night of playing with my roommate and another friend of mine, both of whom are under level 20.
Armor penetration serves Nocturne very well. This amount of armor pen will allow you to hit most champions like they don't have any armor at all. I've also used attack speed runes and got good results, but armor penetration seems to yield the most benefit. If you feel like you have too much of a good thing, subbing for crit chance or attack speed runes would be alright. However, the armor penetration runes are especially good for taking out tanks and breaking turtles as long as your team has a decent tank.
Again, this build focuses very heavily on attack damage. 334 damage per hit with the attack speed benefit of a Trinity Force will make you absolutely unstoppable. Couple that with the lifesteal of The Bloodthirster, the crit bonus of the Infinity Edge, and the added armor penetration of the Black Cleaver, and you're virtually impossible to kill as long as you're attacking something. The Warmogs at the end caps it off rather nicely, giving you a huge survivability bonus.
Ignite can score you many kills throughout a game if used properly. Every time a champion gets away with just that last little sliver of health and they're running away, a quick reactive ignite can score you the kill.
Obviously, teleport is just good for map mobility, which can save your team from losing a turret half the time. Conversely, many turret kills can be accomplished with teleport.

Farming minions is what this build relies heavily upon. Nocturne's passive can be used to great effect, considering it hits three targets for 120% of your base damage and heals Nocturne. Once you get a few items, throwing a Duskbringer and a few attacks can kill a whole minion wave. As soon as you get the Trinity Force, gold will start pouring in. Focus on trying to last-hit minions and get gold, and take out the ghosts, wolves, golems, and buff monsters in the jungle whenever you have the chance. This should give you enough gold to complete the build, though I rarely ever get far enough to finish building the Warmogs.
Nocturne is a ganker; plain and simple. He really shines when that one champion is trying to backdoor a turret, and then gets stabbed in the face by you. Paranoia in, start Unspeakable Horror, throw a Duskbringer once the fear is out, and if they're not dead already, they will be soon. Something a lot of people don't do that can make Nocturne even better in a 1v1 is chain spells once the cooldown runs out. In a mano-e-mano fight, you can use Duskbringer or Unspeakable Horror more than once, and you should.
What you should watch out for is champions with any kind of crowd control. Something that you can use to shield from this is your Shroud of Darkness, which is particularly effective at blocking Fiddlesticks's fear or Warwick's suppress if timed correctly. However, this takes practice in order to time it right every time. Focus on prediction and you'll be able to do it in no time.

In no particular order...
-
Last hit minions and kill jungle monsters to get as much gold as fast as you can
Gank loners with Paranoia
Use ignite on champions who you think will start running away, and characters like Dr. Mundo who depend on regen for survivability
Pair yourself with either tanks or ranged dps
Backdoor turrets whenever you have the opportunity
Win
