This guide is about Olaf, The Berserker. Olaf is a great top and jungle champion, but I like him more on the top lane.

On an uncharted continent beyond Valoran's grasping clutches, the conqueror named Olaf was born to a long tradition of soldiers unlike most others. Berserkers, as they tout themselves, are warriors who channel fury deep from their cores, unleashing pure and savage wrath upon their enemies. This fearsome evolution is a product of their unforgiving home, Lokfar - a barren tundra where all creatures must vie bitterly for every resource. Olaf belonged to a seafaring clan known for ruthlessly pillaging any and all villages within reach of their dragon-crested longboats. The last time he saw his icy home, Olaf was embarking on an expedition to pioneer and plunder a distant land known only to legend. However, while underway, a terrible storm sprung up and Olaf and his crew were thrown to the mercy of a roiling and pitiless sea.

His ship destroyed, his crew nowhere to be found, Olaf miraculously washed up untold miles from ''friendly'' waters on the foreign shores of Valoran, south of Demacia. This unfamiliar place stunned and frightened the Berserker, for Lokfar is not privy to such potent magicians. Approaching them, Olaf hoped that they could use their mysterious powers to send him back to his people. A bargain was struck. Olaf would use his awesome prowess as a warrior to serve the unusual wars of Valoran in the League of Legends, and in exchange the sorcerers would find him a way to return. Despite his participation in the League, Olaf knows better than to trust the ''finger wagglers'' that run the Institute of War. He deliberately keeps details of his life and home from them. After all, with enough information, they would most certainly find the Lokfarians and dominate them as they have dominated all of Valoran, keeping both quietly -- and unwittingly -- in their thrall.

Beware the war cry of the Berserker. What surges toward you is unyielding, free from the shackles of reason.

You should use Armor Pen Quintessences, Attack Speed Marks, Armor Seals and Magic resist Glyphs. Armor pen is a good idea for Olaf since he have R so his Armor Pen is even bigger. You are a tank so you must have Armor and Magic resist. Attack speed is always good so you can farm faster and if you are jungling, jungle faster. Olaf doesn't need any Critical strike runes..

Your Masteries focus should be on Damage and Armor. Put 21 points on Attack and 9 on Defense. It's good for Olaf because he is a lot more op with Armor and Attack Damage. Put some Critical strike Masteries too.

Berserker Rage
For each of 1% health missing, Olaf's attack speed is increased by 1%. I love Olaf's passive, it helps in fights 1v1 a lot. Olaf doesn't need items like Phantom Dancer thanks to his awesome passive.

Undertow
His axe deals a lot of damage and slow enemies, it's Olaf best chasing ability, if Olaf pick up his axe his cooldown is reduced by 4.5. This is an amazing skill shot ability, it helps you to harass, chase or run.

Vicious Strikes
It's the most important ability if you go jungling. It gives you extra AD and life steal, so it's like a little The Bloodthirster when it's activated.

Reckless Swing
His E deals the most damage, deals true damage what is amazingm, but hurt himself, because damage from E is so high max it first.

Ragnarok
And then we come to his amazing ultimate. His ultimate passive is extra Armor pen, 10 at level 1, 20 at level 2 and 30 at level 3. When activated Olaf is immune to all disables so it's like a Cleanse just much better it gives you extra Armor and Magic resist, try to use Ragnarok and Vicious Strikes together because it's extra overpowered.

Best starter for Solo-top is Boots of Speed and 3 Health Pots. It gives you Movement speed and you can stay on lane longer with health pots. Go back and buy Ninja Tabi or if you have extremely AP solo top buy Mercury's Treads. Buy Phage and Cloak of Agility for some Critical strike, first build Phage to Frozen Mallet and then Averic Blade to Atma's Impaler. Frozen Mallet is a must when playing as a Olaf. Proceed to Giant's Belt and build it to Warmog's Armor. Warmog is good because Health regen and a lot of Health points. You must buy Maw of Malmorthius if the enemy team has at least one strong AP. Maw of Malmorthius is a great item to not die so fast against AP opponents and gives you some AD as well. Because Olaf is a Tanky AD so you must buy some damage. Buy B.F. Sword and then build it into Infinity Edge. Buy some Elixir's when finish. Olaf can't die when he finish his build he can go 5v1 and still get out with 3 kills..

First you must unlock Undertow for harassing an opponent. You shouldn't max it till level 13. At level 4 unlock Vicious Strikes for early Life steal and Bonus Attack damage. Vicious Strikes should be Maxed at level 18. At level 2 unlock Reckless Swing and max it at level 9, Reckless Swing is Olaf primary damage ability, it has true damage but deals it a little bit back to Olaf. Unlock Ragnarok at level 6, 11 and 16.
