Poppin' Poppy [A Guide to Poppy Support] | 13.15 Updated

Poppy Support goes Bang!
''Poppy support, really?'' you think I guess, is this even possible? Well, for me, yes it is and it's pretty strong. All of your abilities can help your ADC to survive and get kills.

As Poppy is a tanky character with a high CC kit, it is a pretty good character to play on support. Your E ( ) stuns, your Q ( ) slows and your R ( ) gets your enemies airborne.

Now, let's see how you can 'protect' your ADC, tank your team and control your enemies with your abilities.

First, we shall get through our abilities, eh?

Passive - Iron Ambassador
Every 16 / 12 / 8 seconds, Poppy can throw her buckler (which is a ranged attack) with increasing her range (475) and deals extra 20-180 damage depending on your level. Once the buckler hits a target, it falls nearby and stays there for 4 seconds, if the buckler kills its target, it will automatically bounce back to Poppy. Once the buckler is picked up, Poppy will gain 15% / 17.5% / 20% of her max health as shield for 3 seconds. Enemies can destroy the fallen buckler by stepping on it.

Q - Hammer Shock
Poppy smashes the selected area with her hammer dealing damage, that area becomes unstable which slows down the enemies and then explodes to deal damage again.

W - Steadfast Presence
Poppy gains 10% armor and magic resistance as passive, this effect will be doubled (20%) if Poppy is at 40% health or less. When activated Poppy gains movement speed for a short time and creates a barrier around her which blocks dashing enemies who hit this barrier, blocking enemies causes them to get knocked, slowed down and get damaged.

E - Heroic Charge
Poppy charges to an enemy pushing them and dealing damage, if Poppy collides with a surface while carrying the enemy, she stuns the enemy and deals damage again.

Ulti (R) - Keeper's Verdict
Poppy can channel up to 4 seconds to charge his ability (hold R) and slows herself for 15%. On release, Poppy smashes her hammer and sends a shockwave. If the shockwave hits an enemy, a hammer erupts from ground, dealing damage and knocking enemies towards their Summoning Platform. If channeled less than 1 second, Poppy will knock her enemy to air, making them ''airborne'' for 1 second.
Basics of the Banger
Now, let's take a look on how you can protect your ADC.

If you ever played Poppy, you know that your combo is pretty basic.

Here:

> > >

You want to pull that out while your ADC can attack the enemy or you can do that to scare and push the enemies back.

Protecting your ally:

Case #1

In this case, you want Q ( ) your opponent and activate your W ( ).

Why?

Your Q ( ) slows down your enemy and deals damage while W ( ) does not let the enemy to dash towards your ally.

Case #2

Photo URL (imgur): Picture of Case #2

In this case, you want to pull out your basic combo (without R [ ] ), if there is no wall to stun your enemy, engage with E and Q ( ) then get out with W ( ).

Why?

You combo will scare the enemy away if you pull it, because it is a very powerful combo, dealing a lot of damage and stunning your opponent. The little no-wall engage is to keep your enemy away.
Teamfights and Your Ulti
Your ulti, a two-option ability, you can either knock enemies up or you can remove them from the current place/fight.

How to correctly use your ulti then?

Depending on the current situation, you have to choose. If there is a teamfight and there is a Yasuo on your team, you can combo with him with your no charged (not channeled) ulti with his ulti ( ).

Or if there is a teamfight and their most fed/valuable player is separate from them, you can channel ulti him to remove him/her from the teamfight for easier wins.
Conclusion
Poppy is a tank top lane but can be played as a support too! High CC and easy sustains are making it easy for you and your team.

C'ya, have a good time and stay safe :)
