Hey! This is my first guide on MOBAFIRE for Pyke. Hope you enjoy it and please give me feedback or write me something that I could improve on this guide. Also, im german/dutch and still learning english.. so if you find any spelling mistakes please tell me! x)So my name is Marcel or Ingame you can find me as 404 Ares (EUW). I am playing League of Legends since Season8 . I have many accounts on EUW and I play every lane except for support! But my "Mainlanes" are mid and top and I also like to be in the Jng as Viego , Diana or Sylas and Yone on mid. :) Also, I'm maining assasines and bruisers overall basically. Feel free to ask any questions or comment on this guide! Also, if interested im streaming sometimes so feel free to tune in. Have fun reading!

My account - EUW /Op.gg

Pyke is a pretty strong champion with high mobility , damage, and a 5 man execute ult ( Death from Below). Pyke is a top/midlane monster because of his escape, disengages , engages and the Q poke is pretty pretty strong.

You generally just need to to poke the enemy down and execute him. He is also a very strong midgame champion and is able to roam and catch enemys pretty fast which is very useful in every elo.. He has decent cc like his hook Bone Skewer and his Dash/stun Phantom Undertow. His Ghostwater Dive works pretty well with his Passive Gift of the Drowned Ones and it makes Pyke also very fast for roaming.

Maybe you want to be a Pyke toplane or midlane main after reading my guide! :D

Some clips down below in the Video Section!
PROS

+ Execute Ultimate
+ Fun to play
+ He has cc in his kit
+ good early midgame sustain
+ High Pentakill / outplay
potential
+ underestimated on Toplane

Pyke is a very fun champion with CC thanks to his Bone Skewer and Phantom Undertow , he has good early sustain due to his Gift of the Drowned Onesand his base armor. He also has a very very very high Pentakill potential with his 5x Execute Ultimate Death from Below! Its actually pretty funny to poke the enemy down with your Bone Skewer if its not a hyper tank you will get like 12.5% Hp of the enemy as dmg from your poke and you can Execute him when he is like half life :D
CONS

- Hard to master
- Once E+ Flash failed you die
- Very squishy lategame! Falls off min 30-35
- Hard to cs with
- Once behind hard to get back
- sadly not the best :(

Pyke is a very fun champion but hes not that easy as many people think ... He needs good and much training to master him well. Yea, he has a sustain early and midgame but his late is ****. You will just be useless if the enemys are too tanky or got Guardian Angel. It is also pretty hard to come back as Pyke if you are already behind - if you are behind just farm and farm and farm for beeing maybe a bit useful later.

DOMINATION

Hail of Blades
Pyke can proc Hail of Blades very well like you just need to Q the enemy and autohit him 3 times because of your slow Bone Skewer you will just get these hits through.. Like, if you hit the enemy like lv 1 with ur Q and just give him the hits from Hail of Blades, he will be at like 30% HP.. and thats quite insane xD. Also, I think that Hail of Blades is way easier to get off than Electrocute. So I recommend going Hail of Blades instead of Electrocute because you dont have time to proc Electrocute lategame.. But of course you can still go Electrocute , no worries.

Sudden Impact
Sudden Impact gives you 7 Lethality after using your W,leaving a push, using your E and even when you use your Ultimate.. You can go Taste of Blood instead for more sustain on lane. But I recommend going Sudden Impact.

Eyeball Collection
Thats the best choice.. You get AD after killing an enemy or destroying a ward. But if you dont like it. You could also just take Ghost Poro which gives you also AD and a bit more vision overall.

Ultimate Hunter
After Presence of Mind got changed you should take Ultimate Hunter for less Ultimatecooldown, it is really worth it trust me x). If you feel like roaming is better for you - take Relentless Hunter.

Inspiration

Time Warp Tonic
Time Warp Tonic is such a great rune to survive the laning phase. Everytime you use a Health Potion , Refillable Potion , Corrupting Potion or a Total Biscuit of Everlasting Will, you will gain 5& Movementspeed and you will consume 50% of the effect immediately.. On lane its just good for trading / sustaining or even survive fights against Urgot and Zed for example.

Biscuit Delivery
Biscuit Delivery gives you every 2 minutes one Total Biscuit of Everlasting Will which gives you 10% of your missing health back and also permanently increases your mana by 50. You get 3 cookies in total to survive your early game laning.

FLASH: Flash is the best Summoner Spell in League of legends everyone takes Flash for having the chance to escape , secure the kill , engaging or you as Pyke can just E+ Flash the enemy !
IGNITE: You can go Ignite if you want very aggressive plays on lane.. You also have a high killpotential early then but I would go Teleport everytime unless its a Vladimir or some sort of heavy healing toplaner.
TELEPORT: Teleport got a higher Cooldown but its still worth it to take on top as Pyke , imagine you Execute someone on your lane with Death from Below.. You can just Teleport botlane and get 2 more kills for your team! and Teleport is just a nice spell because of this easy way to get back to lane with your core items.

Passive: Gift of the drowned ones

Passive: When Pyke is unseen by enemies, he rapidly regenerates some of the health recently lost to enemy champions.(25-50%) (Can be trigged by walking into a bush or using Ghostwater Dive).

Pyke also converts his bonus health into bonus attack damage instead. (Note - This scaling is intended to be poor, and not encouraging you to buy health items in order to gain bonus AD).(1AD per 14HP!)

Q: Bone Skewer

Tap: Pyke stabs and greatly slows ONE enemy in front of him.

Hold: Pyke readies and then throws his harpoon, impaling the first enemy struck and pulling them a fixed distance towards him.

Both uses of Bone Skewer do similar damage, so you don't need to take that into count. You will need to decide one of two things when using this. Is it worth holding and hooking in one target into the middle of your team.

Bone Skewer Will also always pull the target a set distance, no matter where you hook them. This means if you hook someone right in front of you, the target will go directly behind you.

Leveling Bone Skewer first gives you increased CDR and damage.

W: Ghostwater Dive

Pyke dives into spectral waters, entering camouflage and gaining a significant increase to his movement speed that decays over a few seconds.

Camouflage hides Pyke from view while enemies remain outside his area. Attacking or casting spells ends camouflage.

Ghostwater Dive is your roaming engage and also your disengage to quickly heal with your passive if needed. When you press the button its casted instantly but works similar to Evelynn's passive and can be seen by a Control Ward and if you are near enemy champions.
Maxing this is the worst thing you can do!

E: Phantom Undertow

Pyke dashes, leaving behind a phantom. After a delay, the phantom returns to Pyke, damaging and stunning enemies it passes through. (WILL NOT HIT MINIONS OR MONSTERS ANYMORE)

Phantom Undertow is what you will be using with your Flash to hit multiple enemys. Can also be used as a dash to escape. The Phantom Undertow + Flash will increase the clone pathing range.

Level Phantom Undertow second, damage is increased moderately per level, stun duration scales with your lethality.

R: Death from below

Pyke strikes with a X area, blinking to champions and executing those below a certain flat amount of health.(they are red then) Enemies in the X that are not executed take 50% the damage equal to this amount.

When a champion dies in the X, the last ally that assisted gains full kill gold,(Pyke gets 2 kills out of it,1 kill shown on screen and 1 cut - means you triple the killgold 2+1=3!) and Pyke can use Death from Below again for a short period of time. Also, if he kills someone with his Death from Below there is a nice Bilgewater music in the background which changes at every killstreak.

Death from Below's execute damage goes through shields. Also there is a white indicator on the enemy health bar, if their HP is under that line, Death from Below will kill them and you will have a short window to use the ability again. Bare in mind it can be flashed as it is a skill shot.
Death from Below has to be used on an enemy champion to be able to dash away!

Duskblade of Draktharr
This blade gives you all you need ( Damage , Lethality for your Abilityscaling, burst damage and the ability to stack your Eyeball Collection , it also gives you very useful Cooldownreduction! The best thing about it though is the Stealth, it lets you heal INCOMBAT with ur Passive, and thats actually insane Its an core item for Pyke. Comparision of Prowlers and Duskblade below.

Eclipse
Eclipse is just beyond strong right now.. It gives you Omnivamp,Lethality and an insane mythic passive. Which makes it to the perfect dueling or 1v1 item for Pyke.. Overall its just really self-sufficient and enables you.

Youmuus Ghostblade
This is another nice item on Pyke because of the Lethality, damage and speed for roaming you get. It gives you no longer Cooldownreduction! Its another core item for Pyke if you play around roaming!

Edge of Night
One of my favorite items in league of legends as a assasine main.. This item gives you damage, lethality and also the chance to block a spell with your spellshield! Its a great item for Pyke after you build the Duskblade and Youmuus

Tiamat
Building it is not really worth it anymore. They removed the active and the waveclear isnt as good anymore either. Sorry guys

Guardian Angel
I really like playing with Guardian Angel because of the 2nd chance to do something in a teamfight.. It also gives you a bit Armor and a bit Damage.. Go this as one of your last items.

Deaths Dance
Death's Dance is a defensive and good item on Pyke because its unique passive ( If you take physical dmg, you get this dmg overtime) that means you can just heal up the dmg with your Gift of the Drowned Ones + Ghostwater Dive. On Takedown you get something like a "mini triumph" proc. Basically combined with Duskblade-Stealth you just heal up an insane amount of HP.

Prowlers Claw
VS
Duskblade
The Prowler's Claw gives you a nice active to almost guarantee ur E Phantom Undertow and some more lethality from Legendary Items! It's like 5+ Lethality per legendary item. The Duskblade of Draktharr gives you the good old "bonus damage on next auto" proc, STEALTH on takedown and ability haste. I usually build Duskblade the most because the Stealth and Ability haste is just too valuable - You can get up to 143 ability haste if you build for it! If the enemy team is full of squishys I would go Prowler's Claw though!
-OR-
Ninja tabis > ARMOR
This is a very good Item against Adcs or Champs like Yasuo Kled etc (Autoattack based champs.Go the Tabis if the enemys have a lot of Ad dmg.
Mercury's Treads > TENACITY + MAGIC RESIST
There are games when you are being caught out by CC and you haven't taken Cleanse for whatever reason, or if you're getting destroyed by ability power damage. Grab these boots instead of Ninja tabis for the tenacity and magic resist.
If you get super far ahead just build Mobility Boots for the oneshots

Warding - Its the key to win the game! Esport-Pro-Players say things like : Warding is the most important thing you need to do! Ofc theyre right .. Heres a graphic how and where you should ward your lane

So, you should ward the bush for more protection of an enemy gank . You can try to deep ward the enemy jungle if you want.. you can easily escape with your Phantom Undertow so this shouldnt be a problem. If the enemy got a scuttle crab and its important to get vision at this situation because the enemy got a Udyr who can solo the Herold easily you should ward it.. Priority Agrressive means that you should use a Control Ward there.. Priority Defensive just means that you can ward your junglers buff If you want to be nice. Sometimes the jungle is not warding so you have to do it :)

Level 1

If the enemy needs a leash you just freeze the lane and wait for your enemy... So get your minions and try to Q poke with your Bone Skewer and try to get your Electrocute/ Hail of Blades off.

Level 2

Skill your E Phantom Undertow and you shouldnt push your lane. Farm minions and keep poking with your Q Bone Skewer

Level 3

Skill your W Ghostwater Dive and now you can start your first Combo: E + Q + Autohit and escape with your W. Keep poking with your Q Bone Skewer the enemy should be half hp or low now.

Level 4-5

Keep going your poke and farm more minions.. Ward your lane!! A good Lee Sin or Twitch or Udyr will gank you early top and you take too much dmg.

Level 6 (early game)

Now Pyke really gets his fun... Poke your Enemy with your Bone Skewer till you can execute and boom! you have a kill! If you got Teleport up you can try to tp botlane or midlane and get a few more kills!

Level 7-11(Midgame)

Its the same thing... Poke execute , Poke execute, Poke execute... with your Death from Below If your tower falls or the enemy tower is done you should roam.

Level 11-18(Mid-Lategame)

Now you should roam a lot!! Beeing on your lane is now a waste of time! Roam to any lanes or just stay with your team and try to hit your Ult in teamfights as often as you can.

Videos are at the bottom!

During your Laning Phase just short Bone Skewer the enemy autohit him twice and you proced your Electrocute (3 times for Hail of Blades. You can engage him lv 3 with E+Q and W away.. Try to work with your jungler and you get kills very easily because of your cc and dmg. Try to roam everytime you have the chance to. Be sure to ult when the enemy doesn´t have flash or when cc´d. Try to get the lane to a point where you are not forced to farm under tower.

In the midgame - Try to roam a lot and help other lanes with your Death from Below killgoldshare. But you should have an eye on your Toplane because a tower is very very important. And dont fall back with CS at roaming.. Roaming can be a waste of time if you done wrong.

In teamfights try to go in when it's a good moment. If you go in and fail your Death from Below the fight could be lost.. If you want to tryhard you can try your E+ Flash Q Combo and R a few times xD , or play tactical and wait until someone engages and try to pick a few kills with your Death from Below. Also, if you see an opportunity to oneshot or assasinate the enemy Carry - Just go for it , You´ll get rewarded for that.

Poke Combo (Lane)

+ AA + AA (+AA)

Standard Combo

+ + AA +

E+ Flash Combo

+ + + AA + +
You can also use your Bone Skewer before your Phantom Undertow - sometimes it's situational! And of course there are lots and lots of more combos! But these are the most important ones...

Last words

First of all big thanks to @Wicked Cherry for these amazing banners and for the help with BBcoding! You need to check her guides out!
Thank you very much for reading my Pyke Guide!
I hope you enjoyed it and please leave me comments and feedbacks for improvements! If you have any questions just message me or add me ingame : 404 Ares :)
Thanks!

× That Pyke gets 1 Movement speed on the river?
× That when Pyke kills someone with his Ultimate Death from Below that there is a nice stacking Bilgewater background music?
× That you cant execute someone ( Execute reset ) with your Death from Below if the enemy is in these Ultimates:
Kindred , Kayle, Zilean, Tryndamere ?
* That Pyke is not untargetable during his Ultimate Death from Below?
* That your Death from Below , Ghostwater Dive and your Phantom Undertow scale on Lethality ?
* That sometimes the Timer in the Hotbar is bugged? (It tells you 10 Seconds Cooldown left , and when you ping that it's ready?)
* That it rarely happens that you got the Ultimate reset but the Hotbar looks like it's on cooldown ?
All of his skins are actually really good.. Project Pyke is just the only bad one in my opinion
