Introduction

Hello and welcome to my first mobafire guide on Renekton, The Butcher of the Sands.

I played Renekton way back when he was free back in May or something and feel in love

After finally purchasing him 2 weeks later he became my favorite champion that I use basically every game. This is what I feel is the best setup for him after many many co-op games trying different builds.

Feel free to comment on anything and I will do my best to respond and keep this build updated.

Pros / Cons

This build is focused on making Renekton deal the most damage possible early on.

Pros:
You will almost 1 hit all carry with your W if you do well in the beginning and get black cleaver around level 9-12.
You will win in every 1v1 fight as long as you W with fury.
You will probably make teams surrender at the 20min mark.
Does very good in solo top from Q health steal and move speed bonuses to harass.
Your a Crocodile. :)

Cons:
Dies very quickly in early-mid stage if ganked.
Your pretty much dead in a 2v1 if you get silenced and stunned.
Does very poorly if not fed due to having no armor or mres until you have farmed up 6k gold.

Items

Item setup is focused on making Rene a destroyer early-mid game from focusing brutalizer and black cleaver then boosting hp once you get mid-late.

If you are in a game where your soloing against someone like ashe then picking up wardens mail before black cleaver will keep you from feeding and allow you to continue harassing.

If you are in a game where you are soloing against someone like brand then picking up a negatron cloak before black cleaver will keep you from feeding and allow you to continue harassing.

When soloing vs 2 ranged characters play defensively and wait for a opportunity to gank with team mates or stun and exhaust them in tower range. (Unless they are bad because I have pushed top tower before in lane vs Kat and Heimer)

An optional gear setup mainly for Co-op mode is instead of purchasing Raduin's Omen and Force of Nature you can get Atmas Impaler and Warmogs. This will bring you to 4k health and give you around 320 attack damage allowing you to be even more scary to the bots.

Summoner Spells

Spell setup can vary with Renekton.

Ghost and Flash are both good on him but since you will be spending most of the time getting in then getting out or chasing with ult; Ghost is generally the better pick to keep that dot happening.

Exhaust and Ignite are also extremely helpful in getting first blood for Renekton but I feel exhaust helps a lot more in the long run and in team fights. Countless times I have saved carries from Trynds ult by exhausting him basically ruining him until rampage runs out.

Other spells you could get is possibly Teleport.

Teleport giving you very good map control and possibly allowing you to save a tower, get a extra kill and/or boost your creep farm greatly.

Runes

Marks are self explainitory

CD Glyphs allow you to get to the 40% CD cap making your Q and W under a 5sec CD.

For Seals you could do flat hp or dodge but since you get wardens mail around mid game the armor runes work better vs ranged carries or champs like Xin, Trynd, and Jarvan.

I had lots of trouble choosing Quints for Renekton. HP vs Armor Move Speed vs Armor Pen but I went with move speed. Many times have I got a carry down to 100hp and have him flash away and I will be unable to make it before having to tower dive. These quints paired with ghost allows you a lot of map movement which gives you lots of ganks early on after you get that black cleaver.

Masteries

I didn't like the traditional 9 21 setups and decided to go with what I feel Renekton needs the most.

Offensive tree is self explaintory for better damage but the reason I picked up the creep damage is due to allowing him to 1 hit caster creeps with his Q much earlier.

Defensive tree allows him to be more tanky allowing you to successfully harass in creep waves early on without taking extra 2-3 damage per hit.

Utility tree gets those levels up very fast especially if your fed. In some games I tend to be 2 to 3 levels higher then the opposing champions if I get solo top with a good jungler.
