Who is Yorick Mori
Yorick Mori in short words is a member of the Brethren of The Dusk, an order of Monks from the Blessed Isles, Yorick is a Gravedigger and in league of Legends a Necromancer & Pet based Champion, Blessed and cursed with the power to See and Hear the Dead..
He's a Toplaner Juggernaut, which is a group of mostly immobile but strong champions that are a mix of Fighters & Tank, Such as Aatrox, Mundo and Mordekaiser..
His playstyle revolves around Splitpushing and putting a lot of pressure on the map and enemies with his horde of pets by his side, which all come with a lot of pros and cons..

Passive - Shepherd of Souls
Every few minion death will give Yorick a Grave
Enhanced Auto attack that Deals DMG & Heals Yorick the lower he is on HP, Killing enemies will leave a Grave, Hitting Champions & Monsters will also leave a Grave.
Yorick creates a wall with 2-4 HP scaling on its rank, allies can walk through this wall and it can be destroyed by enemy auto attacks.

Marks enemies so His pets will attack them, The mark Lowers the enemy's armor and briefly slows them while giving Yorick and his pets bonus movement speed towards them.
Yorick Summons the Maiden of the Mist that deals ranged Magic DMG and %HP Magic DMG when Yorick attacks the same champion he is attacking, while converting nearby enemy unit deaths into Ghouls.
Yorick's Abilities on paper look very simple, which makes him beginner friendly..
He Throws Pocket Sand, makes his pets Aggro you, then Traps you followed by a Bonk as his Pets maul you since..
He is a pet champion which is known to annoy and tilt the enemy similar to Heimer & Zyra, though his pets are mobile unlike theirs and can do a lot more..
This gives Yorick a unique macro decisions that other champions do not think about, this gives him insane Macro tools and gives him the power to manipulate waves, "shadow push" (more on this later on)
Though he's very slow as a Juggernaut, He's not very tanky by default, he's only situationally Tanky with his Q, but cannot keep himself alive since he lacks defensive tools.
His biggest con is how many bugs his kit is riddled with and the fact he cannot really control his pets or have readily access to them which makes it hard for him to carry if everyone is lost, since splitpush is more effective when you're team is going even or is winning, otherwise it's more of a stalling tool.
In the next chapter I will go over all his Abilities and give an indepth guide on them, including how his pets AI work and how to use that to your advantage to "control" your pets.

In-depth Passive Guide
P - Shepherd of Soul
Yorick's Passive grants him a passive grave every 8th-2nd enemy unit that dies around him, His Q Last Rites can also grant him graves if he Kills with it or Hits an enemy Champion or Large Monster.

The passive itself is mostly his Pets, The Mist Walkers or how I call them, The Ghouls, these are his minions that fight for him, he can only have 4 of them around himself and his R, The Maiden of The Mist.
Once Yorick has 2-4 Graves around him, after using his Q he can re-cast it to summon 2-4 Ghouls from the graves, as long as the graves are within his circular range,
Seems pretty straight forward but there's many tips and tricks around the rules of him and his Maiden only having 4 Ghouls, you can even Alt+Click his passive to check how many ghouls are near you or around the whole map..

Grave Tips
While recasting Yorick's Q Awakening, you can walk away from a grave while having 4 graves, to only summon 3 or even 1 Grave, because the recast will only summon Ghouls from the graves within the Circle range of the Recast.
Seems pretty useless but there's also an invisible circle around Yorick that's slightly bigger (1000 units around Yorick), this one is the size of almost the entire screen, this one tracks how many Ghouls are around Yorick and you can see this by his passive.

When he has no ghouls it's 0/4 Ghouls, when he has 4 it's 4/4
What you can do is have your ghouls push a lane while having 4 Graves ready and once the counter goes back to 0/4 you can recast and awaken those 4 dormant Ghouls for a total of 8 Ghouls.
Ofcourse there will only be 4 around Yorick but that's fine because the ghouls can do a lot while around Yorick and while away from him..

Lastly you are guaranteed a grave when an enemy champion dies nearby or an epic monster dies and these graves also despawn and expire when Yorick exits their range, the same one that's invisible (1000 units around Yorick) and counts the Ghoul count.
So be careful when you walk down to ward the river, since you may come back and find that ALL your graves are gone depending where they were, thus it's usually better to raise them and take the ghouls with you, though ghouls have a mind of their own, which is what the next lesson will be about..

The Mist Walkers - Ghouls
Yorick cannot control his ghouls fully, but if you understand their AI you can make good use of them. Before we get into their AI and how they react, let's list some Facts & Stats about them.
Ghouls Facts & Stats
-
- They are dumb, but lvl up alongside Yorick, scaling up their stats.
-
- 325 base move speed, but gain an extra 60 when near Yorick and any other FLAT MS Yorick gains, Phase rush is the only %MS they benefit from.
-
- Ghouls lose their 60 bonus move speed when they're far away from Yorick but when they still tethered to him they will gain bonus MS based on how far away they are from him, making them run very fast..
-
- 110-300 Scaling HP with 15% Bonus HP Ratio and 15-100 AD scaling with 20% Bonus AD.
-
- 125 attack range and 0.54-0.9 attack speed.
-
- Ghouls do not count as "minions" so they won't lower a tower's defense and let you deal full DMG to them like lane minions do.
-
- Their auto attacks are affected by Blinds (Teemo & Quinn), Dodges (Jax & Nilah) and Blocks (Shen)
-
- They're autos (Basic attacks) deal Area of Effect DMG (AoE), but when it's during their leap attack against a marked target of Yorick's E, it counts as an basic attack.
-
- They're Basic attacks, can apply Spell effects, but not On-hit effects, this is why they can apply Liandry & Comet but not Titanic Hydra or Blade of The Ruined King.
Items Ghouls can apply through Spell effects, Last hit or Physical DMG:

-
- deals 60% DMG against Monsters, but take 100% DMG against monsters
-
- deals 50% DMG against Towers, but take 60% DMG against lane minions
-
- Take 200% DMG against Melee auto attacks but 100% against ranged auto attacks. (Hard for range champs to kill)
-
- Take 66% scaling down to 40% DMG reduction against AoE (Area of Effect) DMG.
-
- Gets one shot by Tower shots, but slowly melted by Fountain lasers.
-
- They will recall with us, unless in combat with a monster, but will also Teleport with us, hexgates also count.
-
Will level up dynamically with Yorick’s lvl.
Ghouls AI Training
-
- Ghouls when spawned will stand behind Yorick (200 units) untill they enter "combat"
-
- Ghouls enter "Combat" when they are nearby an enemy Minions wave or enemy champion, after this they will NOT follow you anymore and will proceed in that lane.
-
- Ghouls can exist Combat if they are aggro'd unto an enemy Monster with your E, or champion, after they kill the monster or champion or lose vision of either of them, they will follow Yorick again.
-
- If you're recalling they will follow you home, unless they get in combat with minions or monsters, or champions, but hextech gate will force them to TP to you if close enough.
-
(They do not follow you IN or OUT OF Mordekasier's Ult though..)
-
- Against Multi camp monsters like Krugs, Raptors or wolves, Ghouls will only aggro ONE unit even if they attack multiple ones, so once the E mark is gone or their target die they will go back to yorick.
-
(So you can E the Big Raptor chicken, they will kill 1 then leave, same with wolves or if they kill the big krug, they will leave the small ones)
-
- When a Target enters a bush the ghouls will de-aggro and stop attacking them, same if they lose vision of them, this can even occur when the E mark is still active (bug).
-
- They're dumb and very buggy, I'll go over the known "good" and "bad" bugs in the Bugs section, they will drop aggro randomly very often when chasing and cancel auto attacks, so beware..
Ghouls Tips & Tricks
Passive Income
Ghouls & Maiden give 100% Gold & Experience when they last hit minions, this also counts towards them assisting hitting a tower, if a plate goes down 5-10s~ later you will gain full Gold from it as well.
Artificial Minions
Ghouls & Maiden do not count as minions, so if you go to hit a tower with them without LANE MINIONS, the tower will have full defense.
But if the tower is low and you have Grubs, Demolish or Hullbreaker you can force a tower by letting your Wall tank it alongside your pGhouls.
You can also raise your pets in lane when an enemy is pushing you in or when you don't have a chance to land E and the wave is coming to your tower, the minions will aggro your pets, thus stopping the siege of the enemy minions, you can use this to stall the push till your real lane minions show up, which can result in a freeze.
Shadow Push
Because Ghouls & Maiden give 100% Gold & EXP, you can leave them in lanes before you recall (After lane phase) to rack up EXP & Gold.
Since Gold & EXP ramps up mid to late game this becomes a very powerful tool to catch up or snowball your Gold & LVL advantage.
Face Check Ghouls
Ghouls can give full vision in bushes, so if you can E Rift, Baron, Grubs over wall or an enemy they will grant you vision.
Yorick & Maiden Share 4 Ghoul Count rule when together but when you release her or Ghouls are off doing something else you don't share them anymore, so you can have more than 4 on the map.
This means in the JG without Maiden around, you can have 4 ghouls on a JG monster with 4 Graves, land your E and walk away and once you’re out of your 4 Ghouls area, they 4 graves will raise as Ghouls to give you 8, of course when these ghouls get close to you they will die out and remain as 4, but if they run into an enemy wave or champion they will just push it as 8 without any problems.
Once Ghouls loses vision or kill a champion/Monster, at times there won't be an enemy wave around, because it already died or isn't around or the ghoul was spawned by maiden.
It will look to find Yorick, thus pathing anywhere giving you free vision.
Lastly if you're in a bush and an enemy champ/minion is close they attack them, exposing your location.
Speedy Gonzales
Like I said in the facts section, Ghouls will gain Bonus MS when they tethered to him (meant to come back to him, due to them fighting a champion or JG monster)
You can use this to your advantage when fighting enemies after you throw E but can’t chase them, especially if the enemy isn’t in lane since ghouls won’t go into “lane mode” which is basically them aggro’d to minions even if fighting a champ.
And the ghouls will gain so much speed they can outrun anyone..
This can happen intentionally if you look for it or by accident as they follow their AI rules, so here’s 3 examples of it happening:
Ghoul Spawned by Maiden that did not see a minion wave, thus looks for Yorick
This resulted in them pathing towards me, running into Zed, murdering him, then continuing on their path to find me at Baron, if they ran past lane minions mid they would have stopped, but they did not, thus they reached me, I would have also NOT seen them if I already had 4 Ghouls at Baron already.
Ghouls staying in Combat with an enemy champion while I leave, thus being far away
granting them massive speed bonus, only for it to be lost once Zed went to a lane.
Ghouls leaving Maiden due to champ aggro and gaining speed once I left
In-depth Q Guide
Q - Last Rites
AA Reset & Range
Yorick’s Q is an enhanced basic attack, this ability can reset your auto attack, meaning it resets it’s timer and you’re not confined by your attack speed or animation time, giving Yorick a small combo of AA (Auto attack) + Q Bonk.
Like most enhanced auto attacks, Yorick’s Q grants his next auto (Q) more range, in his case it gives 50 bonus attack range, this can be used to spam out enemies or farm from a slightly safe distance despite being a melee champion.
Because Yorick has a built in auto attack reset, he can attack twice quickly, which can then proc his R’s %HP twice as well, because The Maiden of The Mist.
The auto attack reset will also help in Season 16 now that Demolish requires 3 auto attacks, thus giving Yorick an advantage to AA + Q + AA again for 3 hits and proc the Demolish and acquire tower plating gold.
Graves
Of course our Q is our real grave passive, which guarantees us graves when Q:
-
Last Hit and Kill with Q
-
Q an enemy Champion
-
Q “Large” enemy monsters (Big Wolf, Raptor, Krug, Gromp & Scuttle)
-
Q Epic Monsters ( Grubs, Rift Herald, Dragon, Atakhan & Baron)
Hullbreaker is another item that Yorick as a splitpusher will want and also requires a certain amount of autos to proc it, in this case 5, which is a lot..
This is where one of my Splitpush Builds comes in handy..
With the Item combo of Titanic Hydra & Hullbreaker aka Titanic Breaker
Item build’s video if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZVMMoy_TMkBecause Titanic Hydra’s active is different than the other Hydra items and doesn’t just does an AoE DMG around you while also working as an Auto reset tool, it actually requires you to auto something to proc it’s AoE DMG, it works the same as our Q giving Yorick a 2nd Auto attack reset..
Giving us this combo: AA + Titanic Hydra + Q + AA, for 3 Quick auto attacks and a normal 4th one, leaving only 1 more to proc Hullbreaker’s 5th passive.

Combo in action:
Sustain
Yorick’s Q is his ONLY source of sustain and tankiness.
The Q will heal him for a flat amount, this scales up per lvl.

But also heal him for 6%-10% of his missing HP.
Keep in mind this healing is halved against non champions though..
Because of this and the fact his Q doesn’t heal for double the amount when he’s below half HP anymore, Yorick’s lane sustain is weaker than what it used to be..
Due to his Flat heal being per lvl, so from lvl 1-9 he’s only healing for 5-14 HP and once you add in the 6%-10% HP you would think it’s high, but early game you won’t have a lot of base HP or HP items, thus you won’t benefit from it against non-champions.
For example here’s the Flat healing from Fiora’s passive:

Talon’s Q Healing:

Yorick’s Q Heal against non Champs:

As you can see Yorick’s Flat Q sustain in lane even with the missing %HP ratio is weaker than Fiora’s and comparable to Talon’s..
While if you look at his %HP healing, it’s litterally half of Volibear’s W Healing
Yorick Q Heal:

Volibear W Heal:

Different champions, but both are Juggernauts and even without this ability somebody like Volibear can still Shield himself with his E and R for bonus HP.
All of this to say that you MUST use Yorick’s Q carefully when you’re low..
This means that the normal combo of AA + Q is nice, but when trading in lane if the enemy has burst and can reach you? Do not do it, let them trade then Q them once the trade ends to gain as much healing as possible since you WILL have lower HP at the end of the trade, while at the start you will be healthier.
Combine this healing factor with Runes like Grasp of The Undying, Revitalize and even Items like Sundered Sky that basically has the same kind of healing as Yorick’s Q and you can survive burst DMG, turn the tides of battle easily with it!!

Example of Sky + Q Healing:
Otherwise or Q is just a Bonk, thus Sheen items like Triforce and Iceborn Gauntlet are good, since our Q can be applied on towers and a lot more..
Which I will list in the next chapter:
Yorick Q Facts & Stats:
-
Auto Attack Reset
-
Cannot be cancelled / Uncancellable windup
-
+50 Auto Attack Range
-
Q Animation / Cast scales with attack speed (AS)
-
Heals for a Flat amount + % Missing HP
-
Leaves a Grave when Struck against: Champs, Monsters & Killing a unit.
-
(Does not grant graves against JG Plants or killing other Pets)
-
Applies Spell Effects like our Ghouls, such as: Comet, Liandry, Rhyalis, etc.
-
Applies on-hit effects such as: lifesteal, Titanic, Sheen effects, Grasp etc.
-
Can be re-cast once Q is on cooldown to raise nearby Graves once you have at least 3-4 Graves.
-
Works on Towers and other structures like Inhibitors (heals off them too)
-
Heal can be applied while hitting Wards or JG Plants like: Blastcone.
-
If you Q at the very last second, sometimes it won’t proc or heal and you will die, so try not to hold it too long for a bigger heal, this is a bug though
In-depth W Guide
W - Dark Procession
Dark Procession is Yorick’s Wall, this wall is not instant and raises itself after 0.75s, once it’s coming up it’s edges can knock up enemies and displace them giving a minor CC for 0.25s.
Within 210 units of it you are pushed inside of the wall, otherwise the wall will push you away, this wall can only be targetted by champions basic attacks or tower shots, Champs deal 1 HP to it while towers will one shot the wall.
Inside the wall you are given sight, meaning you can spawn the wall over another wall to check vision, though niche it can be useful to know this..
Yorick’s wall will remain up for 4 seconds unless it is destroyed, its cooldown also starts upon cast and does not stop Yorick’s movement (walking) like his E does..
This means while running away you can summon the wall and keep running, while if you throw E it will stop Yorick from walking, thus slowing you down.
3W Max Order
Because of this and the fact the wall is big and its HP can scale up to 4 HP, starting at 2 HP, it is very important to always put at least 3 points into Yorick’s Wall, at Rank 3 this grants the wall 3 HP, most toplaners have an auto attack reset, so it’s easy for them to Auto and use their enhanced auto to instantly break the wall, but with 3 HP the wall will remain at 1 HP buying you and your pets time to deal more DMG, this is super effective and a MUST against champions with no dashes.
This can also still be a viable strategy against champions with only 1 predictable dash, such as Jax, Camille, Gragas, etc.
You can put 3 points into your wall by lvl 5 or by lvl 7, this would look like this:

Against tough or very easy matchups like Mordekaiser (can be tough) or Mundo (easy), I will put 3 points into it by lvl 5, So at lvl 3 the wall have it’s first point, then I will give it the 2 other ones at lvl 4 and 5, meaning at lvl 6 if I ever trap an enemy that can’t fight back or defeat me, they are dead or instantly lose their flash, this will give you lane advantage and priority to secure grubs and ganks.
But if you’re just fighting a mobile champion and their JG is also mobile with dashes then you just max your Q into E and W, but still try to put 3 points into your W and not leave it at 2 points till later one, the cooldown reduction is nice otherwise your walls cooldown will be 20s but it will be down to 16s
Usually there will be at least 1 enemy that can’t dash out of your wall, thus giving you value.
Wall Interactions
Our Wall also counts as terrain, meaning it can interact with enemies and ally spells, but it’s an ALLY WALL, meaning an enemy Poppy cannot slam me into my own wall with her E, but an ally Poppy can use it to slam an enemy into it, same with Vayne E or Briar E.
But at the same time an enemy Ornn can knock up us using our own wall, because his E destroys player made terrains like our W and knocks up when it collides with a wall.
On top of this there’s weird interactions like with Graves autos, you can hide behind your wall to block his auto attacks, same with using the minion wave or our pets, your wall can also block his Q, problem is it works the same whether it’s an ally Graves or an enemy, meaning the Q will always slam into the wall and end short..
Meaning if I wall an enemy while graves is ganking me, he may look to Q the enemy only for the wall to stop it and not reach the enemy inside of it, same goes for Lilia’s W, it’s a mini dash into a Big Bonk, but because it can’t go over wall, I can wall an enemy and if my Allied Lilia tries to W Bonk them inside my wall, their W will always miss and wrap around the wall instead..
Speaking of wrapping around the wall? Qiyana R, it will run across the wall, if she ults inside the run on the inside, if our wall is next to a wall? It will extend her R range as well and if our wall is close to one, there’s lots of interactions, facts and tips so let me list them out:
Wall Facts & Stats + Interactions
-
Wall starts at 2 HP, Scales up to 4 HP
-
Can be targeted by towers, which one shot them
-
Loses 1 HP to Melee auto attacks, 2 HP to Enhanced autos that count as 2 Auto attacks, like Zaahen Q(2), While Shyvana Q Counts as 4 in Dragon form, which one shots the wall
-
Can block Graves Autos & Q
-
Blocks Lilia W
-
Can be destroyed by Ornn E
-
Allies that can stun enemies into our wall: Vayne, Poppy, Briar
-
Enemies inside can be pulled out by an allied Hook, or Push ability
-
Can be dashed out of by everyone with a dash except Ambessa, Belveth base form or K’sante (Unless K’sante dashes to an allied champion or minion
-
Xayah R cannot dash out of our wall (it’s not a dash but looks like one)
-
Talon E can dash out of our wall like Kayn’s E but Talon’s E can only dash over our wall once, if you wall him he can 100% get out, if you wall in front of him he can dash over it only if he dashes near it’s edges, if he dashes directly over it he will fall inside and cannot dash out.
-
K’sante can use his R to dash out of our wall if we’re close enough (do not tell them this, I need them to yield to me permanently)
-
Poppy can use yorick, minions or ghouls as targets to dash out of the wall
-
Garen Q can dash out of it if he targets Yorick or a nearby minion when he’s at the edge of the wall, so can Illaoi and it’s easier for her to do it.
-
Kled E cannot E out of the wall, but if his E hits you he can recast his E to dash out by following you with his E.
-
Kled can be trapped inside
-
Sion R can be stopped by
-
Warwick Q can be held to dash out of Yorick wall using Yorick, his Pets or a nearby Minion. (of course he can just R out of it too)
-
Ornn W can be used at the edge of the wall to walk out while it’s spawning, Ornn R2 can also allow him to dash out of it at the edge of the wall
-
Wall can cut off Jungle entrance and exits which can also block deny by walling off an open area or closed one like baron or dragon pits and change the enemy’s auto pathing while chasing you, making them route differently, since they can’t walk through your walls like allies can
In-depth E Guide
E - Mourning Mist
Yorick’s E is one of his most important abilities since this is the main if not only way to control your pets and who they attack.
This ability is shaped like a weird rectangle, almost like a coffin, it can be hard to hit and its max range is actually near its top edges on its corners, which can catch enemies off guard if you hit them with it..

When this ability hits an enemy champion or monster, it will Shred 13% up to 25% of their armor, slowing them for 1.5s but also marking them for 4s, this mark will aggro the ghouls making them raise from their graves to attack the enemy
While also granting Yorick, Maiden and his Ghouls 18%-30% Move Speed (MS)
E Max Order
You would think you should just max E second, which is true but Yorick’s skills scale weirdly and due to past nerfs we must adapt to them..
Old Yorick E always gave him 20% MS towards his enemies, New One scales up to 30% BUT at rank one it starts at 18%, meaning it’s a nerf at the beginning..

Because of this it’s important to just put 2 points into E before you finish maxing Q, because Rank 2 of your E will give you 21% MS, this is 1% higher than the old one, but also 2% higher than leaving it at rank 1, more MS can help you and the ghouls catch up and will increase your DPS significantly, why?
Because the ghouls do not “attack move” like how a real player would, they just chase then auto when they are in range and only walk again once they’re out of range, so the more MS they have the less time they have walking up, this is why the items you get on Yorick are very important because MS and Slows can really impact how much DMG you or your pets get to deal to the enemy, but I’ll talk about itemization later on..
Lastly our E does have %HP DMG with an AP Ratio, which has spawned viability in AP builds with Liandry, Blackfire torch, etc. where you max E, but you can also Max E and only have 2 points into Q against Ranged champions that are playing too safe, or ranged matchups where you are only landing your E and can poke them out, despite ranged champs not having a lot of HP for the %HP to deal a lot of DMG, them losing their armor, which again they also don\t have a lot of will still deal enough DMG to work as a strategy to poke the enemy down with Comet or Aery, which I will talk about in the runes section later on..
E - Facts, Stats & Tricks
-
50-70 Mana, if your farm with E try to hit the enemy to regenerate mana with Manaflow band or Presence of Mind.
-
Raises Nearby Ghouls when an enemy or monster is hit by it, try last hit with Q to make more graves so more ghouls jump or clear the wave when you have Maiden so more ghouls spawn and also jump.
-
(The Ghoul Limit is 4, but as they die to tower or the enemy they will go down to 3, thus spawn more ghouls)
-
Lowers the enemies Armor by 13-25% per rank for 4 seconds
-
Hastes Yorick and his pets towards the enemy for 18-30% MS
-
Deals 6-8% HP Magic DMG giving 3% more per 100 AP (Liandry Stonks)
-
Ghouls cannot leap to the enemy if they are immobilized or grounded, so if you throw E and they are on Cassio W or Poppy’s W is up they will slam into her W and die if they’re low on HP, Veigar E will also stop their jump
-
Using E will make Yorick face in that direction and stop his movement and takes an animation time
-
Applies spell effects like Scorch, Comet, Liandry, etc
-
Weird skillshot that is shot at the ground, so sometimes it can get past Yasuo’s windwall because its trajectory is not normal but it can be windwalled or blocked by Braum E or Samira’s W.
-
Cannot Mark minions or other pets
In-depth R Guide
R - Eulogy of The Isles
“The Maiden of The Mist”
The Maiden of The Mist,, Hermana Gilda, Our Wife, Mommy, Bottom Bi-
She’s our main source of our “real” passive, which creates infinite Ghouls up to a cap of 4 of course, The Maiden is a big part in his kit, without her Yorick is weak..
At lvl 6 Yorick can summon the Maiden of The Mist over 1.5s with Ghouls
The number of Ghouls scale up per rank but a lot of her stats also do..
Maiden deals Magic DMG and is Ranged, She attacks who Yorick attacks, once Yorick hits the same target the enemy champion will take 2/2.5/3% Max HP Magic DMG, this is our main way to shred tanks and duel enemies..
Maiden has a lot going on so let me get her stats and facts out of the way first..
R - Facts & Stats
-
Maiden has 1050-3150 HP (Scaling per lvl) + 60% of Yorick’s Bonus HP
-
30-90 Armor & Magic Resist scaling per lvl
-
300 MS, 1.0 AS, and 600 attack range
-
50/75/100 +30% of Yorick’s Bonus AD in Magic DMG
-
Is always Ghosted (can walk through units)
-
100-500 units behind him
-
Applies Spell effects like all our DMG Spells and Ghouls
-
Leashes / runs back to Yorick if she’s 1200 units apart
-
Deals 2/2.5/3% if Yorick Autos the Champ or hits E while Maiden is attacking the enemy champ.
-
Converts enemy Units or Monsters that die around her into Ghouls for herself or Yorick
-
Also Gains 60 Bonus MS if she is 2000 units near Yorick
-
Tower will attack Maiden last (intended) even if she aggros it (bug)
-
Will teleport back to Yorick during Teleports or Hextech Gates
-
(Hextech gates can be used to save her from being chased)
-
Does not jump towards targets marked by Yorick’s E but also gains the same 18-30% MS boost towards them.
-
Will keep attacking whatever is closest to her, or what Yorick hits for 3-5s
-
(After Yorick is out of her range, she will then turn away after these 3s)
-
Maiden Cooldown 2:40 / 2:10 / 1:40 minutes or 160/130/100 seconds
-
Maiden has HP Regen, 2.5 HP per second, which is 150 HP per minute
-
(Maiden has 1050-1600 HP in lane, so it takes 10 mins for her to heal to full HP or 5 minutes for half her HP, or 2:40 minutes for 25% of her HP, which is how long her rank one cooldown is, so the regen is trash :D)
Maiden’s Pros & Cons
Pros
-
Doesn’t expire or Despawn unless she dies
-
Great pushing power, can match supers
-
Ranged Top abuser as a Pet, can harrass enemies
-
Magic DMG, making it hard to itemize against Yorick
-
Always Ghosted, can’t minion block you, Can Facecheck
Cons
-
3rd Longest cooldown in the game at 2 minutes and 40 seconds..
-
Perma Spawns Ghouls, making it hard to freeze or manage minion waves
-
Cannot be fully controlled, can cause tower aggro if you’re not paying attention, or Spawn ghouls that trigger tower to attack
-
Very Stupid, Very Dumb, Very Buggy, Cancels her auto attacks 24/7
Maiden is very tricky because you have false control over her, just like your ghouls, but hers is a bit more easy to control and manage, as long as you learn her AI and behaviours and play accordingly to it, I could list out her AI Training now..
But I think it’s better if lay them all out as Tips & Tricks you can use to your advantage, then list them out anyway incase there’s some you can’t use :T
Maiden Tips & Tricks (AI Training)
Maiden when Spawned will stay around Yorick’s 100-500 range then attack the closest unit but focus what Yorick attacks for 3-5s, then will leave the target if Yorick gets 1200 units away from her and will mimic Yorick’s movement staying behind him.
Ranged Champion
Because of this, you can turn your back and let Maiden can farm for you, attack the enemy in lane or deal DMG to tower, collect tower plate gold and harass.
You can use this to break freezes or turn your back or simply have her focus the minion wave as you recall so she can give you “Passive Income” just like how the ghouls can as well, or just make sure the wave crashes as you recall or drop ghouls as you recall to make a “Shadow push” happen.
What’s most important is to learn how to abuse the Maiden Control
Maiden “Control”
This is the same tech, but while diving..
The tower won’t focus Maiden while she attacks an enemy under tower, while there’s ghouls also attacking the enemy champion, sometimes though if not regularly the tower will ignore Maiden and let her attack the enemy for free (bug)
Outside of this bug we can still use this trick of turning around and letting her focus the enemy champion under tower, how do we let her focus enemies?
By understand her AI, Maiden will attack the closest enemy unit:
Tower, Minions, Champs, whichever 3 is closest to her range she will attack it
She’s on tower and you want her to continue? Just hold your position and not walk out of her 500-1200 range, want her to swap to minions? Then walk away.
The trick is to let Maiden walk up to attack while the enemy champion is the closest, this can be done when they go to CS minions under tower, since their wave is usually further back or not close enough yet.
Here’s some examples of how this looks like:
In this first clip I move back and forth once Maiden has attached her focus unto camille, if Camille walks away, I walk closer so Maiden can chase, if Camille walks forward, I walk away which makes Maiden kite while attacking her.
In the second Clip I explain how it’s done, so less reading for you this time:
And lastly in the 3rd Clip you can see my black *** abusing this tech to harass a ranged toplaner like Nidalee
she will hop out and look to attack Maiden, luckily she has no CC (crowd control / stun) therefore I can just pull Maiden out and let her kite, so be careful when doing this against enemies that have targeted or AoE Stuns that can affect Maiden, so she doesn’t attract tower aggro under tower and then dies..
Anyway once Nidalee chases her I fully kite away, I could chase her down but she has her dash and can bait me or look for a point blank Q or put traps so she can then burst me, but because Maiden herself is like a ranged champion I simply beat her at her own game by pulling maiden in and out of Nidalee’s range before clapping her with our E’s pocket sand to secure the kill :DDD
Hopefully these 3 examples show you all you can do with Maiden’s Control took a while for me to get good at this, considering I didn’t always do it and mainly saw other more aggressive Yorick mains such as one of our Goats Slogdogs do it
Alongside other Yorick main members such as Ninetales, Shepherd of Elo, etc.
Don’t save her, She don’t wanna be saved
Despite all of this Maiden’s AI is still very stupid and hard to manage and she’s very squishy in and out of lane as well, you will find yourself ganked, escape the gank only to look back and see the enemy JG and Toplaner stomping your Maiden out, because she’s the only Ultimate in the game that’s infinite..
Luckily Smite doesn’t deal full DMG to pets
Anymore and only deals 40 DMG to them

Wall them off
Your best tool to save Maiden is Yorick’s W
Use this wall to place it around the enemies or
Better yet in front of Maiden, where she will be
Or path to get to you, Maiden and all allies can
Walk through our walls but the enemy cannot
So this will save her.
Do not press E
Outside of this DO NOT PRESS E WHEN YOU
ARE RUNNING AWAY AND WANT TO SAVE
MAIDEN, If you hit E, She WILL aggro them
So the slow won’t matter if she’s not running
And this aggro will last for 4 seconds and she
May remain attack them for an additonal 2-3s
After the mark is gone as well..
Do not look back
Your last ditch effort to act like the man in the
Bible “Lot” or “Orpheus” from Greek Mythology
DO NOT LOOK BACK, this means just run because remember, the further away you are from ALL of your pets, the more bonus movement speed they will gain while coming back towards you, Ghouls may lose this Bonus because they get into combat with Monsters or Enemy Minions, but Maiden is always set to follow Yorick by default, therefore even if Teleport away, blastcone over a wall, Flash over a wall, Hextech gate very far away, the more likely she is to survive..
Unless you release Maiden, which can be useful as well..
Maiden Splitpush / Double Splitpush
Double Splitpush or Maiden splitpush is when you release Maiden solely on the fact she can push a lane by herself and grant you pressure or passive income or in some cases Shadow Push assuming the enemy team is blind like Lee Sin
This is my most favorite part about Yorick, how you can double splitpush by releasing Maiden in key moments that I will surely go over in the next chapter about game plan during Laning Phase, Roam Phase and Splitpush / Late Game
Video:(Watch later)
Yorick is unique in the sense where in his own Champion Spotlight Riot Phreak mentions how he can Push 2 Lanes at once..
I always loved this and tried to do it back when Maiden wouldn’t follow Yorick and did it even more when she could follow Yorick but then was given the option to be released as well by re-casting your R, meaning just press R again once she’s out
(this does have a 10s cooldown when Maiden is spawned)
When released Yorick’s Maiden will apply the same rules ghouls do when they enter combat with lane minions, she will just push the closest lane and not look back, you can leash her back a bit by hitting E or attacking an enemy champion or monster, but after their dead or out of range Maiden will go back to the closest lane, which is determined based on where she’s released, luckily there’s a map for that made by a fellow Yorick Main [Nervous_Apartment464] on reddit:
Maiden Release Map

The Why and When to Release Maiden
Why release Maiden?
Because games will not be played perfectly on either side, macro ( game decisions) and Micro (champion mechanical mistakes) will happen, we’re all human and we have a limit of 5 champs on both teams but with Maiden your team can have 6 and make the Splitpush a 6v5, usually teams will do a 1-3-1
1-3-1 is when One person goes top, 3 push mid and another goes botlane to split up the enemy before they all converge back mid or flank mid or keep pushing depending the champions, but in this case you can do a 1-4-1, have Yorick in top or botlane and have Maiden in the opposite lane, your team can group as 4 and push and the enemy cannot win if they match you or maiden, because they would be left with 3 mid against your 4 allies, if they hard engage mid as 4 or even 5 then Yorick and Maiden will take the sidelines and we as Yorick can recall to hold midlane for a bit while Maiden will keep pushing and so will the ghouls where Yorick once was, no matter what the enemy is in a lose lose situation..
In this clip you can see the example of this:
When to release Maiden
Best time to release Maiden is during these situations:
You need to group, but want to actually push a certain lane, release her
Release her at your inhibitor tower 42-50s before Dragon Spawns
Same situation but when you think both teams are about to fight for Baron\
You need to recall and defend? Release her, Maiden dies very easily while you’re defending or in big team fights,it’s better to have her push instead
You plan to Ride Rift Herald into another lane (mid/bot) after crashing it into one tower (toplane), the enemy will chase you to the next lane(mid/bot), while maidens stays in the current lane (top) pushing for free
To defend super minions, release her close to your base so the enemy can’t go and kill her as quickly, this means you don’t need to worry about supers adding pressure into your lane and super minions have less magic resist, therefore Maiden is good at clearing them because she deals Magic DMG but also keeps spawning ghouls which can still till your ally minions spawn and help defend, which will result in Maiden out pushing supers..
Your midlaner cannot sidelane (farm top/bot safely or will group up after pushing or clearing one wave, usually AP champs do this), because of this you have a second sidelane you can farm, allowing you to gain more Gold &E XP due to the passive incoming you’re going to gain overtime :D
(video showing example of how quickly you can lvl up due to this)
Your team is trash and you need all the Gold & EXP you can get =n=’’
Enemies are blind and she may backdoor as they chase you
Divorce Maiden
But of course while splitpushing solo you could find yourself being chased, thus releasing Maiden then could save you, otherwise the enemy may chase maiden and track you even if they lost vision of you in the JG but can still see Maiden, this is where it’s best to cut your losses and drop her off, divorce her and run..
This can also be done while you’re doing Baron and you get very low while your team is still not there, you can release her and she will stay on it and take full aggro, you can recall and even TP back and continue, same can be done during Dragons and other epic monsters.
Triple Splitpush / Multitasking
Double Splitpush is the norm, what’s expected but triple Splitpush is where you can shine, this can be done by combining Maiden Release and Shadow Push
Basically you can release Maiden top, Have some ghouls bot, then group up mid to have all 3 lanes infested with your ghouls pushing, this way you can “group”
Triple Splitpush
Example of a triple splitpush, except I was the only one in their base in this case, but still managed to have all my pets pushing all 3 inhibitors, rare but still possible and there’s no big risk in it, so the reward is always good :D
While still doing your job, just make sure to play defensive and to peel, you cannot die when Maiden is released, just like when you splitpush you don’t want your team to die so the enemy is free to come stop you, if you die in this case Maiden will die and the map pressure is almost instantly relieved, of course you’re weaker without Maiden so it’s better to play as a bouncer or body guard and just look to E enemies to debuff their armor and slow them while trapping petty divers trying to get to your backline.
Multitasking
Multi tasking on Yorick is basically sending ALL your pets on tasks to do on the map, have some on scuttle, drop some mid, then rotate to dragon and leave some there, then raise some bot before going back on dragon, or double splitpushing while having your pets push a sidelane only to go sneak a baron, or like the last clip, have some on the inhibitor while you go to another tower, the possibilities are ENDLESS, but here’s what Peak Yorick Multi tasking looks like:
In this clip I had Maiden released Mid already because my team was grouping and I wanted her and the ghouls to help, meanwhile I brought 4 ghouls with me to dragon and left them there while I went to push bottom.
Sadly ghouls aren’t able to tank monsters as much anymore but you get the point, be creative, Yorick is basically a Dota or RTS champion able to do infinite amount of macro decisions with his pets, the more you practice this the better!
Laning, Roaming, Splitpush
Laning Phase
Yorick’s early laning phase is rough in a lot of matchups, so unless I have The Grasp Rune I usually start E and let the enemy push me in to avoid ganks since I don’t take flash on Yorick, this keeps my lane consistent, I know I will be mostly pushed in under tower and once the wave pushes back at the center I must:
-
Crash the wave into their tower and recall
-
Have a good trade then look for a kill or recall
-
Recall after they crash the wave to buy a cull or doran’s item
-
(usually the enemy also recalled, so I’m recalling to buy as well)
Starter Items
-
- Armor Cloth into Black Cleaver and then Liandry. (Shen, Sion)
Lastly keep who their JG is in mind, if it’s an AD JG + AD Top that can gank early I may start armor cloth just for them, since it can work against the enemy Top & JG, even if I’m just fighting a tank top like Sion.
Reserve your mana
Yorick usually spikes at lvl 3-4 so after this is when I try to fight, but if the enemy is super aggressive and is zoning me will be farming with my E, when doing this it’s important to conserve your mana by trying to CS with E but also hitting the enemy with your E, this way you can regenerate mana with Manaflow band or Presence of mind and not run out of mana too easily..
Yorick’s E costs 50 mana, which is used to poke / engage / farm safely
Yorick’s W costs 70 mana, which is used to engage / disengage / stall wave
You can use his wall to trap enemy minions and prevent them from getting close
To your tower, this will ensure that you can get a temporary freeze or even stop the enemy’s recall if they try to deny this, but Yorick’s mana pool is very low..
Yorick’s mana is 300 at lvl 1 at lvl 4 it’s 435, by that lvl you’re not going to be at full mana and one basic combo of E+W alone is 50+70=120 Mana, So one trade is like 30% of your total mana before your first or second recall so be very careful
Max Order
Depending who the enemy is, you should decide whether you’re going to put 3 points into your wall to cheese them by lvl 6 with a wall with 3 HP or just put 2 points by lvl 4 then continue maxing Q, if the enemy is ez to trap it’s essential to take advantage of this by lvl 5 and then put a 2nd point into your W and the 3rd at lvl 7, by this time you can force them to flash and have an advantage for Grubs
Lane Game plan
Consistency is key this is how I learned most of this by trying the same strategy over and over again till I found one that worked, with different runes, items, starting items, etc. it will all add up and make your gameplan easy and consistent
At lvl 6 Maiden will spawn and basically permanently spawn ghouls, this is where you will mostly lose all your wave management agency, because we can’t stop her from doing this, so you either look to abuse Maiden’s range if possible or look to poke them out of lane to proc demolish or prepare to do Grubs with your JG
(if JG isn’t around and their JG is also away, take 1 Grub and return to lane)
Most enemies will let you just push them in and get intimidated by Maiden or your ghouls, but the higher you climb the more enemies will know when they can beat you in your wave, especially if you missed your E or didn’t get to clear the wave yet, therefore you could have Maiden but without 3-4 ghouls you are nothing and this is the window where enemies will fight you, before you get 3-4 ghouls with Maiden or with your Q and it’s crucial to stay alive and survive this by walling them off AFTER they dashed or putting the wall where you’re going and save your Q for when you are at your lowest HP.
Items needed to win X lane matchup
To win lane you have to build correctly, there’s a few items you can rush to make you win lanes or win trades or survive these lanes:
-
Sheen Rush for Iceborn Gauntlet and win short bursty trades
-
(Works into: Jax, Fiora, Renekton, Kled, Yasuo,Riven, etc)
-
Tiamat into Titanic hydra (or DMG item like Shojin if you’re into Trundle) to clear wave early on and deny the enemy plates when you can’t kill them.
-
(Works into: Trynd, Trundle, Sett, Riven, Renekton, Yone)
-
Shojin into Black Cleaver for DMG Amplification and Armor Shred
-
(Works into everybody else for the most part)
-
E max into Eclipse & Shojin with Comet or Aery Rune
-
(Works into range top: Teemo, Aurora, Akali, Kayle, Gnar, Quinn, etc.)
-
Sundered Sky Rush with Second Wind into Shojin
-
(Works into Poke and some range tops: Jayce, Gragas, Gangplank, etc)
-
Shojin or Black Cleaver into Liandry Second item (Works into HP stacking Tanks or any Tank: Cho’Gath, Mundo, Sion, etc.)
-
E max with 2 AD Starter items (longsword, Cull, D blade) into Liandry
-
(Cringe Ranged Tops or APs your ghouls can’t see even if you hit E: Akali, Aurora, can also be used into most ranged tops like Teemo)
-
Adaptive Build - Just a mix of these builds, example: Quinn, Panth, Shen, Ranged, Fighter, Tank champs but they all roam or leave lane, so we rush Tiamat, into the item that works best against them, Shojin or Eclipse for Quinn, Iceborn or Shojin for Pantheon and Black Cleaver into Liandry for Shen.
There will be a deeper build section later on so I won’t go any deeper than this
(You're reading this on Mobafire so the builds will just be above this wall of txt)
but I do figure out my first 2-3 items before the game starts and adapt it based on how the lane is going, for example, Tiamat into any DMG item is way stronger than just rushing Titanic Hydra, but if I start to lose lane after getting Tiamat I will almost always Rush Titanic and slowly get my real DMG item or a Tank one..
Small victories, wins lane
As you continue laning, you will look for small wins by getting plates, recalling always after pushing a cannon wave if you have the advantage or recalling when the next wave is a cannon wave when you don’t have the advantage, since the cannon will tank the tower long enough that you will not miss too much CS
While if you push with a cannon wave before you recall and the enemy cannot defend it or isn’t there, the tower will be melted by your pets due what the tower attacks first and last..
Tower Attack Priority:
1. Enemy Champion attacks an ally champion
2. Enemy pets attacking an ally champion
3. Rift Herald
4. Cannon Minion
5. Yorick’s Wall
6. Void Grubbies (Grubmites)
7. Yorick’s Ghouls and other Pets
8. Melee minions
9. Ranged minions
10. Yorick’s Maiden
Because of this when you have a cannon wave, the tower will attack the cannon first, thus keeping your ghouls alive longer letting them actually hit the tower, since otherwise the tower would attack them first, you can also stall their deaths by spawning Yorick’s wall, it will get one shot just like the ghouls but keeping them alive even for 1 second is worth it, because the tower shot is wasted!
This makes it easy and almost guaranteed to secure plates with demolish almost every time, which you should try to proc demolish once before you recall, even if you don’t get a plate on the first back, later on it will always grant you a plate and secure you gold, small victories that can easily add it and let you get your items.
Wave manipulation
We always spawn ghouls with maiden or automatically push every time we fight the enemy even without her, this makes it hard to choke the enemy out of gold and resources, therefore it’s important to use what we can to manipulate the wave in our advantage with our wall stalling it or maiden creating minions to stall a crash, or using the free pushing power to roam and ward the enemy’s JG or where you think they would try to gank you from..
But most importantly is to abuse your W when you’re on blue side, because you can place your W on this side of the map to block off the minions from pathing to tower, this will make them walk around the whole wall and eventually flank your own wave, making sure the enemy can almost never freeze it or hold it because their wave will hit your backline minions and force it to push back into you

Here’s an example of this trick in action:
This cannot be done as easily if at all on the otherside, would delay the wave at times but will never make the minions run around the whole wall, only possible on blue side of the map, which side is Blue? Bottom Left POV, Both start with the letter B, that’s how I remember, if you’re on red side Top Right POV it won’t work.
Roaming Phase & Grouping
Once you get a decent lead toplane and get the first tower or get demolished and lose your tower, there’s somethings you can do depending what happened..
Roaming Options
Won lane / Took first tower?
-
Look to ward and rob the enemies JG while looking to Gank or help push midlane to proc demolish and get additional gold
-
Walk midlane to push for demolish, your midlaner may roam bot or go hold top if the enemy toplaner starts to push
-
Roam down for drake or botlane gank / pressure pushing for demolish again or just ruin the enemy’s lane, you can also just look to TP bot
It’s dangerous to still be pushing past the first tower, that’s why warding their JG or taking their JG camps is important, if they come top and don’t see their camps, they are more likely to go back bot or look mid / top to gank then leave, by warding we can see this and avoid it, this leaves the enemy toplaner isolated again and we can try to push for a bigger lead by trying to chunk out their tier 2 tower, as long as we get it around 50% HP it’s okay and perfect, because the next play will be for Rift Herald..
When Rift is about to Spawn be there early and make sure you have a pink ward incase you need to do it alone because your JG and team are doing dragon or setting up for a dragon that’s about to be up in less than a minute..
This is where you start to multitask if possible, if there’s still time you will send Maiden bot 42-50s before Dragon is up, release her around your bot inhibitor tower, then prepare to Rift toplane, don’t look to fight the enemy toplaner though, just push a wave and leave..
This will make them think you’re pushing to then group up at dragon without needing to TP, you can trick them even more by showing up midlane and pretending to group, this will gaslight and deceive your team and the enemy..
Pretending to “Group”
As you are now midlane or even toplane still just hiding in a bush waiting for the enemy top to TP down or a fight to happen near dragon, you will hold Rift Herald and wait patiently..

But if you are midlane pretending to group, you can just sit mid and pressure the midwave, people love to push our nearby lanes like midlane or botlane before dragon is up, midlane more often than not, so as you stay mid you will pull pressure, the moment the enemy gets close you must leave and run away, you cannot die, especially if you did release Maiden and you still need to go back top or prepare to just Rift down midlane OR just push mid if you did not get Rift Herald this game, it’s all about always having a back up plan and something to fall back on incase a play will fail, because actually grouping on Yorick is tough..
Maiden is Bait
If Maiden is released botlane around your inhibitor tower, when the timer gets to 30-20 before dragon is up, she will be exactly in the middle of botlane, so if anyone is trying to push out botlane for pressure before dragon, they WILL try to kill Maiden, which they can, but this will take time and they will lose some HP and in some extreme cases they will even die or lose so much HP they can’t group up
You can tell your team to just hover or kill anyone who tries to kill maiden because she is bait, she is a decoy, you win the pressure the moment they pay her any attention, once that happens it’s time to push, just like when you are being attacked in the sidelane when you are splitpushing you would want your team to push and fight then because it should be a 4v3 for them right?
Well when they focus Maiden it’s a 6v5 but only if you take advantage of it, that’s when I would spam ping my team to attack / push / force dragon as I push mid or I’m heading toplane to if I’m not there already to summon rift herald..
Rift Herald Driveby
If Maiden lives or is ignored after using Rift to crash into the tier 2 tower, then I have 2 options, I can either steer it around their base’s wall into their tier 2 tower midlane, or I can ride it INTO their base and steer it botlane into their tier 2 botlane tower instead, where Maiden already pushed a wave to secure both sidelane towers for 1000+ Gold, without having to fight anyone..
This can also be done without needing Maiden bottom or a dragon fight, as you push on the opposite side of the map like toplane, if your midlaner or botlaners are bot, you can ping them to push there, so you have a wave and can cash out a lot of money, but this can still be done even without a wave, Rift Herald will lower the tower’s defenses so you can deal full DMG to it!!
But once the Rift Dies the tower’s armor and DMG reduction will go back to normal, this is why it’s important that the tower you do crash into the second time is at least half HP, because you can proc demolish after using Rift Herald to secure the tower, this is why you should also save demolish the first time you crash the rift herald, unless it would die, then it’s best to just use demolish..
Alternatively if the enemy’s midlaner tower is half, then it’s better to ride the rift midlane instead and take it, all of this is risky so as you summon rift, before you get inside of it and ride it, Ping to push and the on my way ping to let them know where you’re going to go so they are not surprised and you’re not caught out..
Actually Grouping 🤮
If you ever do Group, your job is not to flank, what you can do best is just wall off enemy divers that are trying to kill your carries like your midlaner or botlaners.
Sometimes you can catch their carries off guard but that’s usually because it’s not a 5v5 yet, which is why Yorick is best at “Grouping” when HE starts the fight with 3 enemies around, if there’s ever more than 3 people as you go in, it’s dangerous, but if you catch one person and there’s only 3 enemies around in total it’s usually fine, especially if your JG / Midlaner can follow up with burst and CC, but it’s generally hard to flank or find the enemy caught off guard, so I usually counter engage or hide trying to predict where the enemy JG will be..
Because in all fights with objective the one with the most agency is the ones with smite, so protect your JG and attack theirs, once they die or get too low, any dragon, baron, rift, etc is yours, but as you “engage” and “tank” it’s best to trap one person aggressively or defensively, see how your team reacts and try to draw the enemy’s attention and aggro, but once they lock unto you, run..
YORICK IS ONE OF THE FEW CHAMPIONS IN THE GAME WITH ZERO REAL DEFENSIVE TOOLS FOR A TEAMFIGHT DO NOT THINK YOU CAN ACTUALLY TANK ANYTHING EVEN IF YOU BUILD TANKY ITEMS LIKE I DO
Why do I say this? Because all we have is our Q for sustain and our wall to trap, but half the champs these days have dashes and we do not have hard CC like a stun to stop the enemy’s DPS or DMG, we do not get Big Heals or Shields, or Bonus HP, Free armor or magic resist or mobility, so once we’re in we cannot get out, so it’s important to just bait and get out, only worth it to keep going if one of your carries is actively popping off and killing everybody, because you do not want to just group up and die, you’re better off splitpush and we all know that so when you do group.. There’s a few things you should know..
Yorick’s pets will get demolished by Auto attackers, and those with AoE DMG, so if you group most will die, especially Maiden so if you find a chance it’s best to release her where you WISH you could be, as you group up, especially if you’re defending your base, because all it takes is for you to hit E and all your pets will die to the enemy, so Maiden is better off pushing the sidelane as you try to stall waves with your wall or poke them off with your pets.
Splitpushing Phase & Late Game
This is where we shine, some games there won’t be much of roaming because your team lost too hard or it’s hard to force towers or ganks to help midlane or bot, so you just splitpush the whole game, this will revolve around you deceiving both teams into you “Grouping” and gaining an advantage in the sidelane in Gold and Experience, making sure that even if they win the dragon fight they can never push and win, here’s some simple plans and strats you can do:
Where to Splitpush & When:
Dragon Spawning (Bot) - Release Maiden Botlane, 42-50s before dragon is up around botlane inhibitor tower, go push top slowly.
-
Ally midlaner is grouping midlane - Push Top or Bot and Release Maiden in the vacant lane
-
Dragon is taken - go push botlane till dragon is back up while robbing the enemy’s JG or looking to flank mid if possible
-
Baron is up - Splitpush bot again and prepare to pressure so your team can do baron 4v3 if their toplaner + someone else comes bot
-
Baron is up - Release Maiden bot and pretend to group mid or push top slowly and carefully while looking for their JG, if he’s dead we can baron
-
Baron is up - but I can’t splitpush (bad matchup like Trynd) so I’m defending him botlane, so I release Maiden mid with my team or Top
-
(Trynd will eventually flank my team midlane through our bot JG, this is when we push botlane or TP to Maiden if she was ignored or help our team AFTER making a shadow push with 3-4 ghouls pushing botlane)
-
We got Baron and dragon is spawning, try to convince your team to NOT DO DRAGON DURING BARON BUFF, If you WIN or Lose drake, you may be too low to push and even use Baron, I just go top / mid and push
-
Enemy Team got Baron and Dragon is spawning - use that time to push sidelines so they only have midlane available to push and have to go kill Maiden toplane
-
Your team has Dragon Soul - Attempt to group or just release Maiden bot and run it down midlane, midlane because if you go top your team will spam ping your TP (which you will not use) and enemy team may force a 4v5 and team will tilt if they lose the soul, I do this especially if we have baron, I will not go to any dragon with Baron buff, not even Elder..
-
Elder dragon is up - I walk down mid while having Maiden push top, as long as the fight is slow you can end the game or pressure them before they get to use Elder or fight for it, they will panick between defending their base and getting elder and just collapse under the pressure, even if they get elder, you got inhibitor can release Maiden to push 1 sidelane and just defend their siege till the elder buff is gone or Baron is coming back up, which then you will pressure sidelines with Maiden as bait Mid or top to secure Baron buff, it’s a back and forth strategy, almost always works~
Once you are inside the enemies base and you’re alone, drop a ward outside their base, or inside of it as you take a tower, the sound of demolish or the visual effects from towers falling will disguise you placing a ward, therefore they usually won’t notice you, thus it makes it easy for you to leave a ward inside and out
They can use ward sweepers to remove them, but usually they will only find 1 ward, one inside or one outside, rarely do they find both, then you just collect 3-4 graves or wait for Maiden to respawn AND wait for Minions to push outside their base, see if your team is in position to stop their recalls or simply wait for the fight to start and TP for the backdoor end 😀
If you TP and there’s minions, your pets will not attack the nexus with you or even inhibitor, only Maiden will, the small ghouls will ignore you, that’s why it’s important to wait for the wave to be gone, of course you will just TP in if a fight starts, otherwise your team may lose too quickly and they can then recall.
