Avoid trading into him. When he has his axes spinning, he'll burst you down before you can proc PTA and Silver Bolts. You can win all-in fights if you land your stun, however.

Champion Build Guide
+ %Max health as true damage + Good dueling potential + Repositioning with + Invisibiltiy with + Useful even behind + Powerspike arrives earlier than most ADCs Vayne is a high risk, high reward champion who excels at shredding tanks of all shapes and sizes. She can easily 1v9 games thanks to her insane damage & mobility. She can also win most duels against other ADCs with her invisibility and stun. |
- Weak early game - Short-range - Stun is conditional - Lackluster waveclear - Seiging can be difficult - High skill floor Vayne's most notable weakness is her inability to clear waves. Nothing in her kit allows her to AoE waves, nor does her items, because of the lack of synergy between her and runaan's huricane. She's also a difficult ADC to play, with her inherent short-range and weak early-game. |
TUMBLE (Q): Using this ability allows [vayne] to reposition herself and acts as an auto-reset. While she does gain increased damage from the ability, it's nothing drastic like a Draven . It has a reduced cooldown when your is active, and makes you invisible during the duration of the tumble. |
SILVER BOLTS (W): THis is a passive ability that synergies well with . After your third consecutive attack on a target, you'll deal an additional percent of their max health as true damage. This will rip through anyone regardless of what they build, so it's important to proc it whenever you can. It also applies to monsters, so you can take drakes and Baron with speed. |
CONDEMN (E): Useful for both engage and disengage, you can use to either pin people against walls for a stun or knock enemies away who are diving onto you. You can also use it to proc the third hit of , but it does cost a lot of mana, so be sure not to spam it. |
FINAL HOUR (R): With a relatively short cooldown, you generally want to use this anytime you commit to a fight. Granting slightly increased movement speed and ad, the ability's strength comes from giving Vayne invisibility on casting . Anytime you get a takedown when is active, you will extend it's duration by another 4 seconds. |

When trading in lane, you'll win most trades if you can proc your
because it will simultaneously proc your
. You can also buffer your . By pressing E before the enemy is in range, when the enemy gets in range, you will instantly knock them away. You can only recast your after you auto attack a target, so if you're looking to run away, don't hesitate to auto an enemy if they're in range so you can recast your . |

Doran's Blade Doran's Blade gives all the stats Vayne wants - extra AD, HP, and some lifesteal. This may seem like it gives less health than a Long Sword and 3 Health Potions, but the extra starting HP and lifesteal make this item more useful in early trading. |
Health Potion This item will let you to recover from trades and stay in lane so you don't miss cs. It restores 150 health over 15 seconds, so be aware that you don't get all 150 health at once. |
Blade of the Ruined King With a useful active for dueling, this item provides a bit of AD, lifesteal, and attack speed. It also provides a decent amount of on-hit damage, which works especially well when dealing with tanks. When building this item, buy for the AD and lifesteal, along with the active. |
Berserker's Greaves ADC's scale will with attack speed, and so these are the usual choice for Vayne in order to finish more often. This will also help with last hitting minions, which is a key component to the success of any ADC. |
Guinsoo's Rageblade Although recently nerfed, this item synergizes too well with Vayne to drop. When attacking, you'll build up stacks for each attack you make, maxing at six. Each stack grants an additional 8% attack speed, and when fully stacked, every third auto attack you make will have it's on-hit effects doubled. This works really well with , so it's a core pickup for Vayne. |
Phantom Dancer With this item, you'll gain a shield whenever you take damage that would put you below 30% health. It's one of the few defensive options for ADCs, which Vayne takes advantage of due to her low range and being a high-priority target for the enemy. |
Mercurial Scimitar You can think of this as your get out of jail free card. This item is basically the Banshee's Veil for AD users. Upon activation, it will cleanse the user of cc and grants a short movement speed bonus. It also has a bit of magic resistance and 10% lifesteal. |
Guardian Angel This item will revive you when you die, and often can buy time for your team to group and defend you so that you don't immediately die after you revive. If you're the only carry on your team this is an important item to build becuase it will give you a second chance if you accidentally overextend and get killed. |
Wit's End Giving you extra on-hit damage and attack speed, this item is useful into heavy AP teams, due to 50 its magic resist. It also heals you for 33% of the on-hit damage dealt when you are below 50% health. It doesn't come with any extra AD, but most of Vayne's damage comes from her . |
Mortal Reminder This item is great against teams with a healer ( Dr. Mundo, Soraka, Vladimir, etc.) because it applies grievous wounds. It also comes with 25% armor penetration to help you further in taking down enemy tanks. |
Maw of Malmortius This item provides some AD, 10% CDR, and most importantly, 50 magic resist. Also, whenever you take magic damage that leaves you at less than 30% health, you'll get a magic absorbing shield for 5 seconds, as well as 10% lifesteal and 10% spell vamp until you exit combat. I build Maw of Malmortius when the biggest threat is a magic damage dealer, like LeBlanc or Karthus. |
The Bloodthirster This item gives tons of healing off of basic attacks, which is your main source of damage as an ADC. It will give a shield from overhealing which can be the differnce between being instantly bursted down by an assassin and surviving. |
Frozen Mallet This item makes your attacks slow enemies, which is pretty helpful when kiting them at such short range. also provides health for safety and a bit of AD for more damage. |
Dead Man's Plate This item allows you to build up stacks while moving, which grant you increased movement speed. And when you attack an enemy champion, you will consume the stacks to deal extra damage based on how many stacks you have at the time. It's really good on Vayne for the health and armor, because Vayne honestly doesn't need to build AD to do damage. |
✦ Focus: Farm Your most important job is to stay alive and get cs so you can scale into your powerspike and go crazy. Make sure you can last hit minions reliably. If you need practice, feel free to go into a practice mode game and just focus on last-hitting minions. Vayne doesn't have the strongest early game of the ADCs, so it's important to avoid extend fights unless the enemy overextends. A typical trading pattern would look like autoing twice and then getting your third attack off with either or . You can set up plays for your support if you catch an enemy loitering near a wall with . Watch for your jungler coming to assist you and take jungle objectives when you can. Make sure you ward! Getting vision down is vital in staying alive. |
✦ Focus: Objectives Mid-game usually begins when after first tower blood. This usually happens in bot lane. After this, you should lane swap with either your top or mid laner. Once all the outer turrets are down, you can look to take more important objectives like dragons, rift-herald, and baron . Make sure you stay with you support, as being caught out alone will most likely lead to your death (unless you got super fed while laning. In teamfights, You'll want to focus whoever is nearest to you, trying to proc your to deal the most damage. Your has a relatively low cooldown, so you'll definitely want to use it whenever a teamfight breaks out. Dodge enemy skillshots with your , and know that they won't know where you are due to granting invisibility. |
✦ Focus: Nexus It may seem rather redundant that you're trying to take the nexus but it's important to keep in mind that's the only way to win a game. The easiest way to end the game is through the baron buff. Killing the baron will grant you a buff that gives adaptive stats. More importantly, it gives all of your minions a stat boost whenever you are near them. The baron buff allows you to siege towers more effectively, but is dangerous to get when the enemy jungler is still alive. While you don't have it, you can siege towers by slowly poking them down. Slow-push until you have a large minion wave, then chip away at the tower. Because Vayne doesn't have a strong siege presence, it's important to get baron if your team is trying to siege the enemy base. |

Vayne is a fun ADC who has an early two-item powerspike. With her mobility, invisibility, and damage output, she offers a ton of outplay potential. You'll need to practice last hitting minions to do well, as her innate waveclear is less than most ADCs. I recommend you pick up Vayne in the bot lane. When you master her, you'll be able to 1v9 your games once again. Thanks for taking the time to read my guide. Any comments are appreciated! |
