Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Attack speed runes for healing.
Dodge runes for dodging and proccing the mastery ability.
Ability cooldown= more taunts and saving people.
Health obviously your a tank so it helps, but also helps with atma's impaler later on.
Shield for the health and health regen bonus at start helps. Pot when really low on health so you don't fall behind. Take advantage of shen early game he is usually more durable than enemy champions and a gank can usually be achieved around level 2 when you have your taunt.
Boots next, ninja tabi's are the most helpful as they give you movement speed when you dodge, however if majority of people on other team or the 2 in your lane are casters consider getting the Mercury Treads as they block spell damage.
Sunfire cape next as it rips through minions to level and farm with, and with your taunt adds up damage, especially since your tank you will generally be in the middle of team fights and be surrounded.
I personally like the spirit visage as it makes you regen health really fast, gives health and most important ability cooldown so you can use ulti to jump lanes faster as well as taunt enemies more often (or if need be get away easier).
Flash use it to get away, or flash behind an enemy and taunt them back to team away from tower, or to prevent them from running away.
Teleport is easy, in case you need to b quick way back, if you ulti to a different lane it's an easy and quick way to come right back( this usually catches people off guard as they expect you to have to run back), or in case ulti isn't available just an easy way to support team.
Towards endgame don't be afraid to push turrets with just you and another champion without minions as you can easily take enough damage to do so, just run away after. Kill dragon and Baron often to as you will take minimal damage after healing from vorpal and the damage negated by feint
Now you have a decision to make if the casters are causing you more grief buy the Force of Nature, if your not finding yourself dying to fast just continue onto warmog as health will still help. Warmog is next as it sets up the next item, the health increase from this item really set up the damage output atma's impaler offer.
Atma's impaler pretty self explanatory, start whacking the #$%^ out of people now, especially when ki strike is ready and vorpal blade, a lot of burst damage can be done quickly.
Now is a good time to go grab one last item. But generally your game will be over by now.
