Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Thanks to Searz for the awesome guide format! You can find it here.
Credits to jhoijhoi for the template, which you can find here.
I used 2 templates so credits goes to both of them
Hi! I go by the name Shouya in EU west and I decided to try and write a guide for Shyvana the most recent champion in League of Legends.
This is my first guide so comments on how to improve it is always appreciated.
English is not my main language so if there are some gramatical errors feel free to tell me.
(for any abbreviations you don't understand)
Pros / Cons
+ Can withstand quite a lot of damage
+ While on dragon form skills deal some kind of AoE damage
+ Ult can pass through walls
+ Quite fun to use
+ Deals some decent damage
- She´s a bit weak in her early levels
- Ult can be a bit hard to use
- Damage falls a bit late game if you don´t build AD items
- She can be kited quite easily
- She doesn´t have any kind of CC.
I personally go with a 15-6-9 mastery tree because I think that with it I have everything I need.
I don´t go farther in the offensive tree because with this build you are supposed to be an off-tank and putting more points is a waste in my opinion
I chose and to take more advantage of my armor and m.res runes.
Main rune set
Greater Mark of desolation Greater Mark of desolation
You are an AD champion so it makes your AAs and your Q hit harder. I take 6 of these to reach 10 armor pen and with Sunder you reach 16 armor pen which is more or less the armor of an squishy champ at low levels
Greater Mark of strength
I take 3 of these in order to help your early game damage since I don´t start with any offensive item
Greater Seal of resilience
Gives some armor in order to take cara of your squishiness early game
Greater Glyph of shielding
Gives m.res over time, since you are going to solo top and solo top champions are usually AD champs you don´t really need early game m.res glyphs
Greater Quintessence of Strength
Same reason as Greater Mark of Attack Damage.
Flash is one of the best summoner spells in the game and has a lot of uses.
Even though your ult can pass through walls having flash can save you in those moment when u dont have enough fury
I like to use exhaust because the damage reduction and slow helps in getting those early kills and with Cripple you take more armor from them so it works well with your runes
Lots of solo tops like to take this spell in my opinion is quite good since it helps a bit with that burst damage. Can take it instead of Exhaust.
You can take it instead of Flash since your ult acts like one. This together with Burnout will probably make u unchatchable.
Since you are going to solo top in most cases take this if you want. It has many uses like: getting back to the lane fast, helping other lanes, backdooring,...
- fury of the dragonborn: This is your passive. For each AA you do you reduce the CD of Twin Bite by 0,5 sec, extend the duration of Burnout by 1 sec to an maximun amount of 6 secs, deal 20% of Flame Breath damage as bonus damage to the marked target and gain 2 points of fury while on dragon form
- twin bite (Q): This one is simple it acts as an AA reset and you attack twice applying on-hit effect with each attack.
Dragon form In dragon form it deals damage to targets in front of you in a small cone.
- burnout (W): This gives you some Movement speed while dealing AoE damage around you while it last. The MS bonus gets weaker by each second. You can prolong the duration of the abilitie by using your AA up to a maximun of 6 secs.
Dragon form In dragon form it leaves a trail of flames that deals damage on every target standing on it.
- flame breath (E): A skillshot that deals magic damage and reduces the opponent armor by 15% at all levels. Thanks to the passive you deal 20% bonus damage with each AA. (the bonus damage is the damage of this skill)
Dragon form In dragon form it deals damage on a big cone in front of you applying the effect on everyone hit by it.
- Dragon's Descent (R): This is your ult and it turns you into a dragon. It can pass through most walls so it can act as an flash. It deals a bit of damage and you lung to the location you chose when activated
Like most champions you want to max your Ult first.
Then I max Burnout because at low levels your Attack Speeed is not that high and the AoE damage helps your Damage per second and of course it also helps in your farming. Also having more MS is always nice.
Next one is Twin Bite since this is not an Ap build this one will help you deal more damage.
Last one is Flame Breath because you only want it for the armor reduction and the effect with your passive so maxing ir earlier doesn´t help much
I build her with the typical Atmog´s build so it´s not anything new or special
: This are the boots I prefer because of the CC reduction and M.res. You are supposed to be an Offtank so this are the ones that suit you the best.
: This one is perfect for her: gives some nice AS while giving you more m.res.
: This one has lots of effects that benefits Shyvana. This will make your Twin Bite hurt a lot, since you don´t have any kind of CC the slow helps you catch up to those champions that are escaping.
: Since you will be quite durable at this point having some HP will help you get more tanky.
- : Gives some armor and its passive will give you some nico AD because of your Warmog's Armor.
Normally the game doesn´t last this long so I haven´t really thought about what to build her with after this so I will update this as I play more with her.
If you want some Lifesteal you can build a Wriggle's Lantern before building your Sheen since it gives some armor, damage, lifesteal and a free ward every 3 mins.
So when the game starts I usually grab a Regrowth Pendant and a Health Potion because since your early game is weak it will help you lane for a long time aside from being able to build it into a Warmog's Armor later.
Another way to start would be Boots of Speed and 3x Health Potion but you are quite squishy so the Health Potion won´t always be enough to sustain your laning phase.
If you are going to get a Wriggle's Lantern then you can start with a Cloth Armor and some Health Potion.
You want to take top lane since you don´t have any CC you won´t be of much help bot and you want to farm.
Recently I have seen some Shyvanas going bot with an AD carry and I must say that it´s actually quite good since once you hit level 6 you are quite durable and in dragon form you deal lots of damage. Your Flame Breath also helps with your carry´s damage.
Getting a kill is possible but remember that you are weak at this point.
Just concentrate on farming and try to get a kill with the help of your jungler.
Will update this later
In teamfight your role is to be in the middle of the fight and take out any squishies u can kill before they can kill your carries or Ap nukers.
You can use Dragon's Descent in two ways:
-Initiate the fight while isolating their carry or Ap nuker and taking them out fast and then help your team. Another possible target is the supporter of the another team.
-Have someone else initiate and protect your carry and Ap nuker by taking away anyone who is trying to hurt them.Another possible target is the supporter of the another team.
Remember that while you are on dragon form all your abilities deal some kind of AoE damage so make sure that:
-You use your Twin Bite when there are more than 1 champion in front of you, of course this is if you can.
-While your Burnout is active make sure that there are more than 1 champion around you and of course AA to prolong its duration
-Apply Flame Breath on more than 1 target to reduce their armor and make it easier for your teammates to kill them.
Will update this later
This guide is not finished yet.
Will try to start jungling with her and add a jungling guide.
Thanks for reading up to this point and will try to update it soon.
