A different approach

Shyvana is a good tank but played correctly you may also make a good assist in battle. Taking this build you will grow fast your levels taking an advantage over your enemies. This will make you stronger than them and will give you lots of health. The items bought will help you most when you are level 11 you can get some aces with your team and use the dragon's descent to persecute them and the burnout(while dragon's descent is active) to make a gank with your team where you will be main target. (the fly in dragon's descent should be short so that enemys are close then use the burnout)
The thornmail or the warmorg's armor is a personal desition here you are building a tank cause your enemys will be as strong as you and you will have their attention. If you can buy them both selling your starter item. (order depends on the enemy's team power.)

TIP: "Throwing burnout to enemys minions will help you to carry"

TIP: "Use the revive last time before 20 min. then you will have to use it on a critical situation if enemy team scores an ace, this recomendation is only if you are having a discent enemy."

On a 5 vs 5
This build will help you to get minions fast since lvl 3, mid would be the strong recomendation, once you carried you gotta take the mid jungle. Burnout will let you move very fast arround the match convined with the boots and boost of phantom dancer which will let you get minions and jungle same time still helping your team once in a while.

On a 3 vs 3
Taking top will allow you to have a better chance to jungle, but taking bot will let you have more kills. This is a personal desition, in which you will have to decide to play defense top, playing for a long game, or aggressive bot, in which you will use the burnout to run heroes and get your kills.

Items

Exp is more important than your items get it and just go back when you are ingured or if you know you can`t take your enemy any longer. Press tab to see your enemy´s build.

Doran's Shield will give you more defense health and regeneration which will let you to stay on battle for a longer time, when you are low health you may still want to be there to get exp.

Berserker's Boots will give you agility moving and fighting, as you are winning more exp you will be stronger than your enemies.

Continue to improve your agility burnout convined with zeal will make you run fast for jungle and to persecute your enemies.

Oops your enemy is going OP, don´t worry chain vest and your fast exp(which gives you more life) will be enough to take him.
If the enemy team is damaging you with magic take the Negatron Cloak this item will help you to resist magic and after this buy chain vest, the Negatron Cloak will replace your Thornmail later on.

Finish building phantom dancer and it wont be so difficult to build sunfire cape, minions will die automatically cast once your burnout and check.

The Bloodthirster will regenerate your life and will make your enemys think you are op, if they target another cast dragon to move them and they will run or attack you. They just didnt know they cant run from you. Cast burnout, fire your blame breath and make a twin bite, if he was slow health that is a critical convination.

Finally the tricky part you got to decide if you have enough armor or if you have enough health, for example against tryn I would recommend thornmail but against tanks or carries I would take warmorg´s armor.
