In this guide I will give an explanation of the build and play style I use for Volibear. Now Volibear was not favorite character, but out of necessity I was forced to play him. I loved playing Alistar jungling and Malphite.. all kinds of different champs, but the ONE thing Volibear can do that the others can't is COMPLETELY CARRY THE TEAM.

His Q makes him so fast :}

Strongest attack relatively high cooldown
Low base magic resist

Now I have seen a lot of guides start out with armor and 5 pots or a vampiric scepter in order to grab a wriggles fairly quickly, but I do not see the need to get a wriggles lantern on Volibear. Wriggles is 1600 gold (half your warmogs) and it doesnt offer much in terms of early ganking potential.

Okay.. so maybe Wriggles if you can't seem to gank anyone and need to farm.... Check build #2.

I start with boots and 3 pots to improve clearing speed and the pots will keep you close to full health. The first think I upgrade is the boots before anything I like to get Boots of Mobility to help me get everywhere so fast its worth it trust me. If you think you need Mercury treads.. gank a lane with no hard CC. In team fights what is an extra half second when you've got 3500hp.

Volibear is a good fit for the current jungle. He has great gank potential with the speed from his Q and the slow from his E.

I grab my E first because it is on a short cooldown and fear will negate a lot of damage you take early.

Wolves > Blue Golem > Wraiths > Wolves > Red > Wraiths

This should put you at level 4 and now its time to gank. Usually you can just gank mid from the wraiths. Just start in with your Q you will have something like 502 movement speed making you very hard to escape from. If you notice your Q about to fall off just before you can hit them I usually drop my E as well. So you can catch and toss them. Otherwise I wait until after I toss them back.

After the first blue, you can give them all to your AP carry. Just remember that you're Volibear, even if the lanes aren't pushed if you have your passive you can make something happen even at a tower.
