WHY SONA
sona is the best scaling enchantress with an ultimate that wins games.

however, sona is very squishy, mana hungry and scales slowly. you're vulnerable to early dives and at your weakest before getting your first few items. you have to play around your enemies cd's to position well. if you get caught, you have no way of escaping without burning flash.

in this regard, sona is undeniably weak. arguably even a poor pick. but she has to be that way because if they were to buff her, she would be outrageously broken. master+ sona mains have figured her playstyle out and it's being highlighted by her 54% winrate (last season), making sona the 4th highest winrate support in high elo.
LEAGUE'S MOST MISUNDERSTOOD CHAMPION
sona is NOT a passive backseater!

every little bit of utility she gives is mirrored onto herself — she can't heal an ally without healing herself, she can't speed her team without accelerating herself too.
this is because her kit forces her to put her own neck on the line.
you have this self-peel because you’re meant to play sona next to your carries, not behind.

you need to get a bit frisky with sona ifykwim.
you must be in range to hit her passive autos because her whole kit is her passive.
and her passive is massive.
if you aren’t hitting power chords constantly, you’re not playing her properly.

a W chord on the enemy carry is like hitting them with exhaust.
an E chord slow cycled into another slow is a death sentence.
sona's debuffs are also on a low cooldown, and in her famously strong late-game, she can have insane uptime on them.

and the best part?
she's insidious!

there's no loud sound effect, no big flashy "hey, your damage was just cut by 30%" visual cue.
teamfights swing because enemies don't even realize what just hit them.
(unless you let them know with arcane sona skin.)

after level 6, sona is supposed to be hard to dive.
rengars, zeds... whoever jumps her sometimes just tickle when you W chord them.
you can totally shatter their mental when they realise they couldn't one-shot the squishiest little support!

in fights:

- sona is constantly hungry for flash R angles.
- sona is always weaving in and out of range.
- sona is always looking for who to hit with what chord — because that is what wins fights.

sona's midline role is shared by no other support. not even renata really.
people who play sona like yuumi ruin her reputation.
this is why people think sona is bad.
because so much of her value is invisible.
but i also want to thank you all who play sona like that because you lower her winrates just enough so that she doesn't get nerfed.

HOW DOES HE DOES IT
passive
♡ hit enemies with Q or heal allies with W to stack your passive (up to 120 stacks)
♥ at max stacks, you'll have 60 ability haste on basic abilities
♡ at max stacks, every Q or W use reduces your ult cooldown by 1.5 seconds

power chord
♥ Q: deals 30−360 magic damage
♡ W: reduces damage by 25% for 3 seconds
♥ E: slows target by 50% for 2 seconds
hymn of valor (Q)
♡ you are ideally looking to hit both the enemy adc and support with Q
♥ usually only the other is in range which means your second bolt will target the closest minion
♡ you might mess up your adc's farm and mental because of it
♥ look to hit Q's when enemy adc walks up to farm.
♡ against hookers like blitzcrank, play safe and focus on helping your adc farm
aria of perseverance (W)
♥ costs a lot of mana early
♡ use W right before damage hits you or your adc to shield it and heal past damage
♥ W chord is your priority — use it on the enemy who deals the most damage
♡ W projectile reveals stealthed allies, so don't cast W near teammates waiting in a bush
♥ you might accidentally heal clones like wukong's, neeko's, leblanc's and shaco's
song of celerity (E)
♡ always store an E chord when moving on the map
♥ cycle for back-to-back E chords, giving the enemy a 4 second 50% slow
♡ so fast
♥ take E at level 4 if you have pressure, otherwise level 3
crescendo (R)
♡ does your team have health/mana?
♥ does your team have ultimates?
♡ can they follow up if you flash R?
♥ learn to observe when's the best time to use it in your games
